Wheelchair Van for JJ

Thank you for visiting our GoFundMe page! We would like to introduce you to our son, James Joseph ("JJ") Barber.
JJ is a fun-loving, big-hearted child with a contagious laugh. He is also living with both Autism and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and has recently undergone double-hip surgery due to a fall at school which has now made him completely wheelchair bound - something we had hoped was still 2 years away. Due to this recent development our car is no longer sufficient for getting him to school, doctors’ appointments, or hospital visits and we are in need of a wheelchair accessible van as well as a number of assistive devices (lifts, ramps, etc).
We have put all of our savings towards this and have sought additional funding through sources such as Easter Seals of Canada and others, but find ourselves still considerably short for the type of vehicle we need for JJ and our family.
With your help, we will have the new van by the end of March. With JJ's current and ongoing medical appointments, we are in need of the van immediately, however are able to make alternate transportation arrangements for the next 2 months. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe efforts, this will truly be life-changing for us as JJ's DMD continues to progress. JJ and the rest of our family are extremely gratefull for any and all donations received as this will allow us to resume a normal life again.
