Education for all in China

Hello there! My name is Morgane, and I’m currently studying International Relations and History at King’s College London, and this is my plea.
As the world is increasingly becoming interconnected and globalized, and developing countries are integrating the global sphere, I am writing this letter with the hope of convincing you in supporting my cause. While these countries may be experiencing a high increase in their GDP per capita, the income is not evenly distributed and thus creates huge gaps in achieving the satisfaction of basic needs. In fact, besides vital requirements lays a very important aspect which must not be left aside as it has unfortunately been in most developing countries over the last forty years, that is education. Children, especially in these countries with an expanding worldwide significance and role, are the future. These new generations must be given the chance to access education if we ever want to make the world a better place, since I strongly believe it is the basis to any global improvement and peaceful evolution for mankind. As Nelson Mandela once said, education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.
This is why this summer, and for a duration of six weeks, I am going to China to volunteer as a member of AIESEC, the world’s largest non-profit organisation youth-run.
I will be staying in Shanghai and will give English and French lessons to local communities deprived of education, while promoting the importance of cultural preservation. This mission is for me a great challenge but I am sure it will easily be counted as one of the most rewarding experiences I ever had.
I hope that you will understand the importance I give to this project and the impact I hope to have on the world at my little scale.
Yet, as every volunteer, funds are necessary for me to be able to cover the costs that my savings will not be able to meet, as such a trip is a true investment.
