Raising BIG Money for Big Brothers-Big Sisters

Who We Are

We are a group of English 255 students from the University of Tennessee Knoxville working to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, a nonprofit that mentors children and greatly impacts our community.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of East Tennessee is an organization on a mission to provide children in Knoxville facing adversity with a one-on-one relationship with a mentor to help them with school, provide them support, and simply be a friend they can always talk to. The mentor 2.0 program is dedicated to guiding children through freshman year of high school to graduation and helping them complete some form of secondary education.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of East Tennessee is dedicated to helping children navigate through school and life to help them become outstanding members of the community. A great amount of children’s futures have been impacted by Big Brothers-Big Sisters, making it vital to our community.


What We Need

We are seeking donations in the amount of $2,000 in order to match two underprivileged children with a mentor who can help guide them through school, life, and simply be a friend. A $1000 donation includes all fees to make a match including an essential background check, cost to connect the matches, and continued support including activities for the mentor and child to attend.

A multitude of children are currently on the waiting list to be matched, so all donations would be greatly appreciated to help Big Brothers-Big Sisters impact our community through enriching the lives of children. We are seeking to change kids life one child at a time and your donation will allow us to accelerate that mission. Your simple donation today can mean lifelong success for a kid in need.


How It Helps

Your donation will give us the funds to match more children with valuable mentors that will help the children become successful in school and life. It takes resources to run the organization and keep the mission alive. Giving these kids an opportunity to have a mentor to look up to not only sets them up for success but also creates valuable members for the Knoxville community.

Each match is $1000 and includes the cost of background checks, recruiting more mentors, providing supervision for the matches, and cultural activities for the children to take part in. These activities include field trips, school tutoring, and holiday parties to name a few. We desire to raise a minimum of $2000 and fully believe that you can help us reach our goal. Your donation will allow you to be apart of the mission to impact the lives of underprivileged kids.


How Else to Help

If you cannot make a donation at this time you can help in a variety of ways. You can share this campaign with friends and family on social media, volunteer to help in the organization, look into becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister to change a kids life, or donate items to help in the fundraising efforts.
