The Hardest Ask
Last January, this year, my wife and I opened a brick and mortar frozen yogurt shop in the town I grew up in, which we love so much, and under very favorable terms. It’s been a lifelong dream, preceded by a lot of heartfelt prayer on our parts, and ongoing hard work, except for a slow-ish winter start. Amazingly, yet as expected, the business health continues to improve at a self-sustainable rate, and promises a bright future!
Problem is, we now need to come up with a sizable amount of money to keep the roof over our heads. Our residential landlord passed away, and the new landlords (her extended family) have terms we now simply cannot fulfill. Our former landlord became our cheerleader, and chose to extend a temporary moratorium on rent. We accepted her kindness.
We are now being evicted, however, we can stay if we come up with all the “back rent”. While it is a large amount, this is our greatest hope, since the rent is now affordable, the neighborhood safe, and accommodations sufficient. Further, a $6,000.00 judgement would be beyond devastating on so many fronts, at this juncture.
Asking for this sort of help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. We men "provide for our own". I know we are not the only ones standing on the ledge. And we know some have much steeper ledges, greater losses. My hope and prayer, is you might take pity and help me help my wife and two precious children, once with special needs, remain in a stable situation. We simply cannot do it without you.
Thank you in advance, for taking the time to read this, and God bless you for anything you can offer, if even heartfelt prayer. Our court date is coming up on Wed., May 24th just a few days away. Somehow, some way… WE PROMISE, we WILL find a way to give back to our loved ones and communities for such kindnesses.
