On May 17, 2019 the City of Denver provided community notice of an application for a Certificate of Non-Historic Status for the Googie-style, classic diner originally one of 9 White Spot restaurants, today known as Tom’s Diner, located at 601 E. Colfax. When a Certificate of Non-Historic Status is issued, it allows the owner to apply for demolition. The parcel is under contract with a developer who plans to scrape the Mid-Century Modern diner for an 8-story apartment building.

You know the building. Cinematic in both appearance and spirit. Each time you pass it, or walk in, you are flooded with memories of days and nights passed. Of the random, friendly encounters and the veritable rainbow of people and personalities who find their way to Tom's.
It's an icon of Denver.
A place that is community. Holding space. Welcoming all who walked through the door. No judgement. And whether you sought that at 4p or 4a, it was there for you.
Now it is time for US to be there for Tom's (White Spot - historic name).

1. Give: The first step is raising the needed $875 to file the application for historic designation by FRIDAY, JUNE 14th!
2. Write: Collect memories using this form . We want to gather as many moments from people about why they love Tom's/White Spot and send these to Tom to help him understand a bit more about why this place and space is so important to the community of Denver.
3. Share: Post this to your social media networks. Get the call out to friends. Connect your networks.
