The Sam Rogers Project

Donation protected

It is so much more than a generator...

It is where my chapter begins.

One year ago, our son started playing competitive soccer for a remarkable person who is now a part of our family. This amazing coach has touched not only our lives, but so many others and his story is what this gofundme project is really about!

Meet Sam. He is a coach, a teacher, a mentor, a friend, a humble and loving human.  He cares deeply and has a give back spirit.

Three years ago he started a project to help bring light to his birth village and provide basic school supplies for elementary school age children.  He fled his country ten years ago due to a civil war.

To give back to his community, he started a generators project to provide electricity. It isn't the best or cleanest energy, although this is what he could afford for his community.

The project has been successful in so many ways. Before starting the generators project, villagers used to walk up to one mile to get clean drinking water. Now with the generators providing power to pump water from a water well, this small project has made a huge change in their lives. Instead of walking a mile to get water, it now takes about a minute to get water.

The generators also provide electricity at night for students to gather together under a light to work on homework.

Sam not only has volunteered his time but also used his own finances to make this project a reality.  So with all projects, there are bumps in the road and this where my chapter begins to join in this amazing project.

Sam received a phone call that three of the generators are not working.  His heart just sunk after receiving the phone call. He visited his village last summer to check on the project and will be back there next summer. Power is something we have an abundance of and Sam truly understands the circumstances and struggle the people in his village of Cotton Tree, Liberia experience. The rainy season is the worst time to be out of electricity in a third world country.

My goal in assisting with this project is to help Sam raise the needed funds to fix and/or replace the non-working generators now and work on developing a donor plan for the future.

Sam has given so much to the community, our schools he has worked with, and our children.

Ready, set, give.  THANK YOU.!
