Some Love to help Nelida dance again
Donation protected
Hey friends, co-workers, family!
So, this time I was in Peru, it was quite difficult for me to wrap my head around the different realities I was witnessing. As many of you may know, Cusco was my home for well over a year. I had my little friends, workplace, learned spanish and somehow grew. Now, my job with Backroads sent me back, which for many reasons I am unbelievably grateful.
It's not everyday that I reach out, but for now..I need your help. My dear friend from Peru, Nelida (the little girl in the pink sweater) has been sick for over a month. She is the most down to earth, spunky and responsible gal you could possibly meet. She has a large cyst on her lungs that needs removal. Unfortunately, the local hospitals are terrible, and have been pushing her back and forth because "they do not have beds for her". Recently she got pneumonia and they sent her back home. Her mother Julia lives with her 4 daughters in one room. They have 2 bunk beds for the 5 of them, and the room also doubles as their cooking area where they use gas and a burner, their apartment has no windows. Nelida has been waiting a month and a half for her surgery.
For a month and a half Nelida hasn't been allowed to go to school, and will need to repeat her grade. There are little resources for those in need.
But my hopes are that we can each pool together $5, $10, or whatever you can share so that we can help Nelida get into a real hospital where she will be treated properly. (For surgery, treatment and recovery, it is approx $3500) I have created a platform to collect any type of donations. https://www.gofundme.com/vc6hhkyk
Please, feel free to inbox me, ask me a million questions.
And if you can't support financially I completely understand, but I ask if you can send a little love and light her way
Muchas Gracias,
Isabel Lavandeira
