<div>I've been a Service Worker and Self-Employed Artist for the majority of my adult life, battling with the weight of poverty for my entire life, which means living without access to or the affordability of dental care for many very formative years. Even in this year, with rising personal costs, setting aside funds to care for my health, even preventative care, has increasingly become difficult, and I've pushed off asking for help for too long.

<div>Dental health is more than just cosmetics; it is life- and career-saving health care that our systems don't provide equitably, especially for growing artists.

<div>With time and the neglect of professional care, my teeth &amp; gum health have been failing, leaving me with more moments of pain, discomfort, and difficulty with eating, and I'm concerned about the future of my jaw and gum health despite the amount of home remedies that have kept them as healthy as I could with my resources. Several months ago, I had an old tooth removed that was causing flu-like symptoms and had hoped to start my journey towards a healthier mouth then; however, I was unable to afford to return to the dentist and continued to push it off until I had the excess funds to care for something so incredibly important. But I have not been able to build that foundation despite all of my efforts.

<div><strong>WHAT IS MISOPHONIA</strong>
</div>
<div>Misophonia is not simply being a bit bothered by chewing sounds; it is a condition of extreme, life-disrupting distress. My entire life has been deeply affected by it. Misophonia is not uncommon, yet it remains poorly understood, has no cure, and is critically underfunded. This is part of a huge lack of disability representation. The support and the desperate desire to see this short film made confirm how badly this representation is needed. So many people with misophonia feel isolated due to a profound lack of understanding. We often relate to a disturbing "Jekyll and Hyde" comparison, grappling with terrible intrusive thoughts and the guilt that follows. We isolate ourselves, avoiding movies, public meals, "normal" relationships, and even struggling to function at school or work.

<div>Misophonia is both comedy and horror. To us, it feels like the world is ending because someone has pulled out a piece of gum. The reaction is that dramatic. I feel the horror deeply, but I also see the absurd comedy in it. I want the audience to feel that same duality. I want to tell that story.

<div>Misophonia: a condition characterized by an intense dislike or hatred of specific sounds. These sounds, known as triggers, can evoke strong negative emotions, such as anger, anxiety, or disgust.

<div>As you might’ve read in viral posts in New Orleans and the surrounding areas in the last day, all (yes all) of the employees were terminated unjustly from Bank Street Bar, without any notice. 12 staff members were let go, during the slowest season of the service industry (summer) with no backup, no pay, and no notice.

<div>This fundraiser is in place to insure the members of our community can pay rent on the first and help them until they get more work. <strong>The goal is 1,000$ for each staff member while they get back on their feet.</strong>
