Tests revealed stage 4 Sarcoma affecting his head, jaw, and lungs, compounded by his ongoing battle with Type 2 diabetes. Despite having health insurance, the costs of MRIs, CAT scans, specialized medicines, and upcoming chemotherapy and radiation treatments are quickly overwhelming the family. Von’s selflessness is evident—he worries about his children and grandchildren, often putting their needs before his own, even in the face of serious illness. Von’s family is close-knit and deeply shaken by his diagnosis. They are holding onto hope as they await the results of treatment, but the financial strain is growing.
