  1. Our centre’s priority is to bring people together. Isolation can be deeply damaging, so we strive to create a safe, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported. The Veterans Operating Base (VOB) is not only open to veterans, but also to family members and friends who may need help, recognising that when one person struggles, those around them are affected too. Understanding the diverse needs of those who have served, VOB provides a wide range of vital services. These include mental health support, financial guidance, job placement assistance, NVQ training, and computer skills development. We also act as a transition centre for personnel leaving the military, helping them navigate civilian life with confidence and stability. We organise activities that are crucial to veterans’ wellbeing, such as military vehicle restoration projects, WW2 barrack restoration, and regular social events. These hands-on and community-focused activities help restore purpose, build camaraderie, and support mental healing. Our holistic approach ensures veterans receive both practical support and a strong sense of belonging, while prioritising their safety and the positive impact they can have on the world around them. We focus not only on veterans, but on their environment. When someone is in distress, it affects their family life, relationships, and work. By supporting veterans, we strengthen families, educate communities, and help society better understand how to support those who have served. Our site also allows veterans to work on military vehicles as therapeutic projects to improve mental health. Once restored, these vehicles are donated to local museums, supporting their preservation and benefiting the wider community. In addition, we help veterans find employment in regional areas. We have already successfully placed several veterans into work, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from employers. Many companies have returned to us requesting more veteran employees, recognising their strong work ethic and dedication. We also host public events, including community cricket and football tournaments, 4x4 driving tours, and barbecues. These events bring veterans and civilians together, reduce isolation, and strengthen community bonds. At its heart, VOB exists to unite people, restore purpose, and ensure no veteran feels alone after service. We are asking for support to keep our hub open and running every day. As a full-time centre, we rely on funding to continue the work we do and to be there for veterans whenever they need us. Our Website Instagram Facebook Linkedin
