A few months ago, I came home from a long 10-hour shift to find my home of five years reduced to ashes. The fire took everything, and since then, I’ve been doing my best to get by—working as much as I can and covering daily living expenses. It’s been incredibly hard to save anything for a deposit or first and last month’s rent, especially in today’s economy. I’m fixing to be 59 years old soon, and starting over at this stage of life is not easy, but I’m determined to keep going.

 One bright spot in all of this has been my two little dogs, who were saved from the fire by the firemen. They mean the world to me, and I dream of finding a new home with a yard where they can play and feel safe again. Having my own little spot in this world would completely change my life and give us the stability we need to move forward.

 I’m asking for help to raise enough to rent a home for me and my dogs. Anything you can give will be deeply appreciated and will help us rebuild after this loss. Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can offer.
