<div>With a heavy heart, My nephew, Jeremy Knapp, passed away unexpectedly on October 3rd 2024. Jeremy was a sweet, kind-hearted individual, the life of the party. He was a generous soul and would do anything for anyone. With such a sudden passing, anything would be appreciated to help towards Jeremy’s funeral expenses. There will be a viewing in Jeremy’s honor. Updates of a time and place will be given when known.

<div>At 6:50am on Saturday, February 4th Mel’s condo complex went up into flames. The 6 unit building has been dealing with major safety concerns from a neighbor of theirs for years. Recently, it has gotten very frequent putting the Palatine Police Dept at their unit sometimes 3-5 times a day. Since Covid, evicting someone has become extremely hard… somewhat impossible. Although the effort from everyone including the association has most definitely been there. Yesterday, the man lit the building on fire for the third time in a year. This time, he refused to leave. Bill passed in his home Saturday morning. Thankfully, Mel and her gorgeous dog, Cami got out of the building safely through the back door in just enough time. They sat in their cars with their neighbors watching their lives fill with smoke and fire. 39 firemen from Palatine and neighboring towns arrived at the scene to diligently put out the fire. Mel’s brother, Jimmy has been living with her for the last year. What this means for them… they are unable to be in possession of ANY of their belongings. Her, Cami, and Jimmy have been displaced from their recently remodeled and beautiful home for the foreseeable future. There are huge projects that need to be completed before being able to return to their home safely. The restoration company and insurance anticipate months. Unfortunately, staying with friends and family isn’t an option as our Cami goolie doesn’t get along with other pups, so they will work fluidly with her to find a place to stay and figure out reimbursements. However, there are so many unexpected upfront costs that we want to be able to help Mel, Cami, and Jimmy with. I can’t imagine the feeling of having… nothing and hope we can give them some sort of peace to start over.

Help the Northwest Suburban Bar Association give local needy families something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving in the Second Annual NWSBA Thanksgiving Turkey  Dinner Distribution Last year the Northwest Suburban Bar Association made a huge difference for over 100 hungry families by giving them a warm turkey dinner on Thanksgiving during the worst pandemic in our lifetimes.  While people were suffering from unemployment, health issues and a lockdown, the Northwest Suburban Bar Association helped local community members by providing a fresh hot meal for their families last Thanksgiving .  The NWSBA broke its goal of feeding 100 families and fed a total of 110 needy families in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago last year.  This year the Northwest Suburban Bar Association's goal is to top last year's result and help more needy families during this pandemic.   Please help the Northwest Suburban Bar Association and Northwest Compass feed our local at risk community on this exceptionally hard Thanksgiving.   For $50 you can provide a warm turkey, piping hot stuffing, refreshing cranberry sauce and other fresh, delectable dishes  for a needy family of four in our local community on Thanksgiving.  All the money raised will go to providing local at risk Northwest Chicago community members the warm food they need for their hungry families this Thanksgiving.  Please donate today and show the local community that there are people who care about the hungry kids, adults and seniors in their own community.

Northwest Suburban Bar Thanksgiving Fundraiser

Help the Northwest Suburban Bar Association give presents to local children and families this holiday season.  Because of the pandemic, many more kids and families do not have the means to give their kids holiday gifts this year.  NWSBA is partnering with Northwest Compass Inc., The Bridge Youth and Family Services and local schools to make sure everyone has a happy and joyous holiday season.   All the money donated will go toward kids whose parents will not be able to get them gifts this holiday season.  We fed over 130 families with our Thanksgiving fundraiser and we aim to  get help more families this holiday season.    For $50 you can give a gift to help a child this holiday season.  Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help100 children and families in the local Northwest Suburban Community this holiday season. NWSBA Holiday Fundraiser for Underprivileged Kids

Delivering local eats to Chicago's frontline heroes!  Our goal is $100,000! Support the best restaurant community in the USA while showing love to our healthcare workers! As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we have partnered with 35 independent, family-owned restaurants to feed hundreds of doctors, nurses, and medical staff risking their lives to save ours at 15 different Chicagoland hospitals. We met our initial goal of $25,000 after 3 short weeks. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed, in so many different ways, to this effort.   Now it's time to go big!  Our new goal is $100,000. Why not? Fuel the Fight Philadelphia has raised $110,000.  Brooklyn for Life made it to over $300,000. Chicago has thousands of restaurant owners and employees who don't look like they'll be getting back to work anytime soon... and the medical staff at our dozens of hospitals are slugging it out against Covid-19 day after day.  Let's take care of our people!  We use 100% of all donations to purchase proper, nourishing meals from Chicagoland restaurants and deliver them to Chicago area hospitals.  So far, $0 has been spent on 3rd party delivery services, and 100% of the funds have gone directly to the restaurant &amp; their employees. Our GoFundMe spends $250-$1,000 on each meal delivery that feeds 20-60 hospital workers. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/43188224_1572990861910037_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="43188224_1572990861910037_r.jpeg" />Lauren Graham, daughter of Jeanine Graham, narrowly escaped a fire when she and her room mate jumped from the 3rd floor of their apartment building in Schaumburg, Illinois on October 5.   Each of them sustained injuries and have undergone surgery to repair broken bones. Lauren is improving physically but she lost all of her physical belongs.  Lauren is currently living with her mom but hopes to find alternative arrangements in the near future. Lauren will need to find new housing, furnish her apartment, buy new clothes, shoes and personal items.   Everything was lost in the fire!! Cash donations would be greatly appreciated to cover costs and to assist in getting her new living arrangements secured and replace lost items.   Please join me in contributing to this very important cause.

Lauren Graham Fire Recovery Plan

My name is Caitlin and I have created this Go Fund Me to support my little sister, Colleen, and her family in their time of need. On Monday, June 10’th Colleen woke up with an extreme headache that would not go away. She had a neighbor drive her to the hospital where a CT scan came back normal. While still at the hospital, Colleen, a healthy 25 year-old, began showing signs of a stroke. At 11pm that night, Colleen underwent brain surgery where doctors found an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM). She was likely born with this malformation unbeknownst to us and extreme stress may have caused it to rupture. Doctors were able to remove it and stop the bleeding. The left bone flap of her skull was removed to allow for swelling, it will not be put back until 6 weeks after her initial surgery. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/39876530_1560309505855548_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="39876530_1560309505855548_r.jpeg" /> Currently, Colleen is sedated and on a ventilator. We are told brain swelling will continue to increase for 72 hours following surgery, level out for 96 hours then begin to decline. Doctors test her motor function every 6 hours. So far the right side of her body has not responded, this may be because her surgery was so recent. She does, however, recognize her mom and husband when sedation is lifted, and for this we are grateful. The road to recovery will be long. She is facing one more major surgery, weeks in the hospital, and months of physical therapy. The results of the AVM will likely be life altering. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/39876530_1560309529824500_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="39876530_1560309529824500_r.jpeg" /> Colleen gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on May 11’th. She has an amazing 4-year-old who is loving being a big brother. Her husband, Vince, was scheduled to deploy with the Army Thursday, June 13’th. He has been granted leave in light of recent events. Colleen is a cosmetologist, and a damn good one at that, who has been on maternity leave since mid-April due to complications with her pregnancy. She was looking forward to returning to work in the next couple of weeks as she does not receive paid maternity leave, or paid time off. This growing family cannot survive on a single income. I am collecting funds to assist with medical bills, of which there will be many, but also to keep her kids living life as close to normal as possible. We don’t want Vince to worry about everyday expenses such as rent, utilities and groceries or larger expenses like child care while he is at the hospital with Colleen. Help me to help my sister and her growing family. Leenie's Road to Recovery from Brain Surgery

<div>In December of 2021, I took over Tuscan Market. Meeting everyone and learning the business was exhilarating, but just three weeks later, I had to leave for Florida to support my mom through a life-changing surgery. Her diagnosis was terminal, but treatments have given us more time together, even if life has changed for all of us. Since then, I’ve divided my time between Florida and here, always working remotely to keep Tuscan Market running while my incredible staff—Paul, Meghan, and Mark and the rest—managed the day-to-day. Their dedication has allowed me to be with my mom when she needs me most, and I’m deeply grateful for their support.

<div>Balancing these priorities hasn’t been easy. In our fourth year, as the economy shifted, Tuscan Market was hit with rising costs and declining sales. I always hoped things would turn around, but we’ve had more tough days than good ones. Recently, we lost our license while trying to gather funds for taxes and the license renewal. December was especially hard, and our rent has increased dramatically due to local property taxes. Right now, our top priorities are paying the taxes and license fees, then catching up on rent and vendor payments. I’ve always put my staff first, and while I don’t regret it, it’s brought us to this difficult place.
