Help Horses of Gili Rebuild After Losing Our Stables
We never imagined we would be writing this.
In early December, Horses of Gili was informed that the lease on our main stable and clinic—the heart of our operation since 2019—would not be renewed. What began as a 30-day notice rapidly escalated into an immediate eviction, leaving us with one week to vacate.
This barn was not just a building.
It was where:
• injured horses were treated
• foals were born safely
• working horses received veterinary care
• rescues found a second chance
We built it in 2019 with limited funds, borrowed materials, and a lot of hope.
Despite exhausting every possible option, we were ultimately told:
• we could not expand on any existing land
• current leases would not be renewed
• temporary structures were not permitted
With no legal way to keep the barn standing, we had no choice but to tear it down.
Today, nothing remains but bare cement and piles of wood.
Why We Must Move and Rebuild Immediately
We care for 30+ horses, including rescues, injured working horses, pregnant mares, foals, and blind horses like Odin and Atlas.
Even as the barn came down:
• horses were safely relocated into paddocks
• daily feeding and care continued
• emergency veterinary care continued where possible
But without land and basic infrastructure, we cannot function—and the horses lose their safety net.
We have now identified new land (20 are) where rebuilding is possible, but securing and preparing it must happen immediately.

Where We Stand Now
We are incredibly grateful to share that $10,000 has already been pledged toward this effort.
To allow for:
• unexpected construction costs
• infrastructure adjustments
• material price changes
• transport and compliance expenses
we are setting this fundraiser at $15,000 USD.
This gives us the bare minimum buffer needed to rebuild responsibly and avoid another crisis mid-construction.
Why Your Help Matters
Horses of Gili exists so that working horses on this island have:
• veterinary care
• welfare oversight
• emergency support
• somewhere to turn when things go wrong
Without this rebuild, that safety net disappears.
If you can donate or share this fundraiser, you are helping us rebuild from the ground up—literally.
We are exhausted.
We are heartbroken.
But we are not giving up.
Thank you for standing with us and the horses when they need it most.
