Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with lung cancer and heart failure. Because of my health, I had to move in with my son and his family. Before my diagnosis, I had started working on enclosing our screen porch to create a small living space for myself, but my health challenges have made it impossible to finish the project on my own.
After having the entire upper lobe of my left lung removed, I learned that my heart failure prevents me from receiving any further treatment. I’ve exhausted all my savings and had to take early retirement, which means my income is very limited. I’m currently applying for SSDI, but in the meantime, things are very tight. The space I’m living in is unfinished—it’s very hot, with no windows and only a screen door, making it uncomfortable and difficult to manage day-to-day.
Completing this living space would give me and my family a comfortable, safe place while I’m on palliative care. It would make a huge difference for my comfort, health, and peace of mind. Any support would mean so much to us during this difficult time. Thank you for considering helping my family.
