Parker is finishing her Sophomore year at The Center School and has been doing incredibly well. She’s had a plan to go to college and pursue a medical career for years, and has been doing everything she can to get there. Recently, Parker was accepted to a 2-week high school pre-med summer program at Yale University through Summer Springboard. She received a 15% scholarship, but there is still a large remaining balance, plus travel costs.
This program will give Parker the experience of what it will be like to go away for college and get a taste of a couple different medical education and career options. The first week focuses on surgery, and the second week is all about psychology and neuroscience. She’ll get to learn like a Yale pre-med student and explore her passion for medicine in a hands-on way.
As a single parent working two service industry jobs, I wish I could pay for this opportunity myself, but I just don’t have the funds. Life keeps happening, and I’m working hard to pay off debt with no savings to speak of. Parker lost her dad last year to cancer and has some social security money, but we’d love for her to keep as much of that as possible for when she graduates high school and needs money for college. Any support you can give to help Parker attend this program would mean the world to us. Thank you for considering being part of her journey!
