Our hearts are shattered as we mourn the unimaginable loss of our beloved Shakeela Martin, who was taken from us far too soon at just 35 years old.

Shakeela was a devoted mother to five beautiful children who were the center of her world. She was full of love, strength, and hope for the future. In a heartbreaking twist of fate, she was preparing to move her family into their new home the very next day. Wanting to celebrate this exciting new chapter, she took her children to get slushies at a BP gas station.

What should have been a joyful family moment became an unimaginable tragedy. Shakeela was struck during a shooting at the gas pumps, and her children witnessed the devastating loss of their mother.

No donation is too small, and if you are unable to give, we ask that you please share this fundraiser and keep Shakeela's children and our entire family in your prayers.

Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support during one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced. We will forever cherish Shakeela's memory and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.

Hope for Shakeela's Five Children️

***PLEASE HELP LAUREN'S ROAD TO RECOVERY!  ***Please SHARE AND REPOST! From Lauren's beautiful Mother's post:  PRAYERS PLEASE. LOTS AND LOTS OF PRAYERS PLEASE My beautiful daughter, who I just posted about her 25 birthday on Monday, was in a terrible car accident yesterday. She had surgery for bleeding on her brain. She will need another one for a broken bone in her neck. She is on a ventilator and heavily sedated. We are beside ourselves with fear and concern. My husband, who wants nothing to do with Facebook, asked me to reach out for prayers for her. So here I am. Please take a moment to pray for our darling Lauren. She is so hurt and in so much pain. Pray for her recovery. The doctors say the next 24-48 hours are very critical. Thank you UPDATE 2/20/2021 from Lauren's Mother: Here's my latest update... Lauren is getting better. She had a good night. Cat scans of her brain look good. Waiting for the neurosurgeon to call with the results of her MRI. That’s for her neck. She will have another surgery most likely on Monday to stabilize her neck. There is something with the C6 bone that they need to fuse together. My brother said it’s not bad. Football players hurt that and are fine. It’s a bone that helps turn your head. After that surgery, if all goes well they will take her off the ventilator. I saw her yesterday. It was awful. She is so banged up. She has tubes and things all over her body. She was just lying there so motionless. I just watched her chest move up and down. It was comforting to watch her breath. I held her hand and said a million prayers. I only stayed for about 45 minutes. It was just too hard. Keep praying for her. She’s better but not 100% yet. I will update as I hear things later -Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing or meeting  Lauren knows she is beyond words amazing. She was always the first to help and make sure you felt like you belonged. I can say it was genuinely an honor to go to school with her since elementary days and play on the same team as kids. Even at that age Lauren was always so sweet and wanted to make sure everyone was okay. She made everyone feel like they had a friend. Better yet, a best friend. A beautiful girl who would give you the shirt off her back.  Finding people as amazing as Lauren now in days is beyond rare. She is so sweet, humbling, generous and beautiful inside and out.She has the most infectious smile and attitude. You could never feel down when Lauren was around.  Everyone who has met Lauren knows she is the sweetest and has a huge heart and beyond compassionate. She has inspired so many of us and helped us become better people with her loving and generous attitude towards life. Showing us there is good in the world and to remain positive even in the darkest of times. She is such a happy person and brings so much joy to everyone around her's life.   She is an incredibly hard worker at everything she does and phenomenal with everything she puts her mind to! She is such a strong young woman who will let no obstacle get in her way. She is a determined young lady and genuinely just makes the world a better!  She is so strong and determined and an asset to this community! Lauren and her family are such a huge part of this community. They have been nothing but shining lights to this community. Lauren is fearless . She is #LaurenStrong and now is the time to help the most genuine and generous person  in the world and give back to the girl who has given us all so much! Any donation is beyond appreciated and don't feel bad if you cannot donate during these hard times. instead please keep Lauren and her family in your thoughts and prayers and please share and repost! Now is the time for us to help the beautiful young lady after how much she has helped us all.  We are #LaurenStrong  We all love you so much Lauren!!

<div>On August 23rd my son was shot multiple times in the back by a Kenosha Police Department officer, after my son broke up an altercation by an unrelated party. The shooting has now left my son critically injured as he fights for his life. The extent of my son’s injuries is unknown, but we remain prayerful as he continues to undergo multiple rounds of operations to save his life. This fund is established to cover my son’s medical expenses, mental and grief counseling for our family and to assist our family in the days to come, as we continue to seek justice for Jacob. A portion of these proceeds will also be used to benefit my son’s 6 children, some of whom witnessed this horrific act of violence. Justice for Jacob Blake

This is John and Tina Michaels, Daniel's Parents.  We thank you for your contributions during this difficult time.  Initially a classmate of Dan's set up the fund for our benefit.  We reached out to SUNY Oneonta to see if we could donate the proceeds to the school to set up a fund in Dan's name to benefit others. The funds received will be withdrawn by us to create a scholarship fund in Dan Michaels name.  We will be working with SUNY Oneonta Scholarship Administration to award students in the years Daniel would have been attending college between 2017-2021. We will be withdrawing the funds into a bank account where they will be allocated to the school.  It is our hope that many students will be able to financially benefit due to your generosity.

In the wake of the deadly shooting in New York City, the Sergeants Benevolent Association has created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the Widows and Children’s Fund, which will be used for education for the children and other needs of the family of slain NYPD Sergeant Paul Tuozzolo. On November 4, 2016, Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo and Sgt. Emmanuel Kwo, of the 43 Precinct in the Bronx, spotted a vehicle that had been used in an armed home invasion just minutes earlier. After a short pursuit, they and other officers were engaged in a gun battle with a career criminal. Sgt. Kwo was shot in the leg and is recovering. Sgt. Tuozzolo, a 19-year department veteran, was mortally wounded and passed away at Jacobi Hospital. Sgt. Tuozzolo, 41, was the married father of two young children ages 3 and 4 . All monies raised will go to the Sergeants Benevolent Association Widows and Children’s Fund and will be used for education for the children and other needs of the family of slain Sergeant Paul Tuozzolo. Donations made are given with the understanding that such funds will be a gift to the family.  Please keep Sgts. Tuozzolo and Kwo and their loved ones and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely challenging and heartbreaking time.

When I was pregnant with my first child Dad asked me "not to let him call him 'Grandpa' "for you see, my Dad was not an old man. We decided from then on that every grandchild would  call him " Papi " and that's how its been ever since. My Daddy is the most amazing man I have ever met. Everybody loves PAPI ! He is funny and he is very smart. As a little girl I always say I had the 'WORLDS GREATEST DADDY '. He taught me how to ride roller skates when we had wheels underneath instead of blades. He taught me how to ride a bike. He would hold on to the back of my seat as I pedaled and he ran behind me. I was never afraid until the day I looked back and realized Dad had let go. Of course I fell flat on my face and when I asked him ' why he had let go? " he told me he had let go many times before I just did not realize it because I never looked back. He walked me down the aisle on my wedding day and most recently asked me to dance with him at my brothers wedding. I cannot dance so I said ' No Daddy" and boy do I regret that now. I would give anything to dance with Daddy right now. Dad has endured a rough almost four years. First my mom passed away unexpectedly after a short illness , then he suffered his third heart attack shortly after during a stress test. He suffered a stroke two years ago which did not cause paralysis but did affect his vision. Daddy already suffers from End Stage Macular Degeneration which makes him legally blind. He cannot see what is in front of him but he can see what is around him. I find it so sad when he has to turn his head to the side so he can watch what is on the television  screen. As limited as his sight is, Dad has mastered using what vision he has left. His will to live as productive a life as possible despite his limitations is incredible. Dad is just a barrel of fun. He is always inventing something whether its putting a motor on a bicycle or taking apart things just to see how they work. He tells me he cannot see well but his hands see for him because the mind always remembers. He always has the ability to make us laugh. We have tons of crazy videos to prove it. One night he started laughing for no reason and he set off a domino effect of giggles from everyone in the house that lasted for almost an hour until we were all in tears. His grandchildren just adore him. He has taught all his children and most of his grandchildren, those of driving age how to drive and its sad that he can no longer teach the next generation because of his poor eyesight. He was recently teaching my youngest granddaughter how to walk. Last year my Daddy grew ill and battled diverticulosis for months. He lost about 40 lbs and was so sick he could barely leave the house. He had three hospital stays in a period of three months which ended with him having a colon resection around Christmas when they discovered he had Stage 2 Sigmoid colon cancer. He survived that as well and to date is cancer FREE. My daddy is a walking miracle but shortly after Fathers Day he wanted to return to his beloved Florida. Since my children would be there for the summer and I was planning a visit as well I agreed to it. I called him all the time to make sure he was okay and he even went to Disney with his grandchildren and great grandchildren just a few weeks ago. He went on all the rides and he even went down a huge water slide a few times. I of course was terrified when my children Face-Timed me from Florida to show me what Dad was doing. He just laughed it off telling me to 'leave him alone, he was having fun '. As I watched the photos they took I could not help but smile. My 78 year old Dad was having as much fun as a 7 year old kid. Cancer was behind him and he was happy to be home. A few weeks ago he spent the day with my son who is pictured in the photo above. It was as normal a day as any other but by nightfall his stomach began to hurt. My son called me in New York and I assumed he had eaten something that did not agree with him. As the pain persisted I suggested taking him to the ER just to check him out. He had his colon resection 7 months earlier and I wanted to make sure nothing else was wrong. Thus began this nightmare. Within 48 hours my Dad was rushed into surgery because he had a bowel obstruction and a twisted colon. I was in NY at the time and as I spoke to him via IPHONE face time as he was wheeled into the operating room and I could see my Daddy was not fine. I asked him ' how he felt ?' and his " not good " reply sent chills down my spine. I was on the next plane out of New York to Florida. My dad had perforations in his intestines and the surgeon worked quickly to repair them. Unfortunately he developed peritonitis and for a 78 year old  man with a weak heart who had endured such a horrid year of intestinal issues, this was not good. The first 24 hours were touch and go. All we keep hearing was how Dad was critically ill and not going to make it but he survived. My mom passed away of the same thing three and a half years earlier only a few doors down from Dads ICU room. The next 48 we were told his extremities were losing oxygen and his circulation was poor so he was going to most likely have amputations of some fingers and toes. For awhile I witnessed the bluing and dusking of his feet but by the morning they were rosey pink in color. The infection was still raging so they had to operate two more times to clean his intestines out . During one of those surgeries they found his gallbladder was non diseased but was showing signs of gangrene so they removed it as well. Finally his fever broke and though in a medically induced coma showing no signs of life neurologically the surgeon was able to close up his abdomen and declare him peritonitis free. As of this writing Dad has made progress though he has a long way to go. We have kept everyone updated via Facebook throughout the entire ordeal. We are hopeful that his vitals are back to normal. We are saddened that he required a trach but grateful that he has begun to breath for a few hours per day minus a respirator. He is no longer in a medically induced coma but he is not totally responsive. He has swelling of the brain which may be from all the fluids/med's given to him to save his life or from the infection itself but today he actually moved his head a little and moved his toes. I also witnessed a tear in his eye. Subtle signs that put a smile on my face. For weeks he laid there stone cold as his body swelled up like a balloon. Dad still has a long road to full recovery. Everyday is a challenge. He is almost ready to be discharged to a long term care facility where hopefully in a few months they will be able to wean him from the respirator for good and he can eat on his own again. Right now he has a feeding tube. I walked away from my New York life three weeks ago but I must return to it soon. I need Dad to come with me. You see a long time ago when mom was ill she told me ' if anything ever happens to me, you take your father and take care of him ' and that I have done since 2011. When Daddy does not feel well I am the first one who he calls. I take him to doctors appointments, I chase him with his pill bottles to make sure he takes them in a timely fashion, I even spent weeks playing nurse at home administering his infusion therapy while he battled diverticulosis. He is like my baby and its me he looks for me when he does not feel well. Even today his heart rate was a bit high and after I stroked his head and spoke to him the nurse commented on how my touch and voice seemed to have a calming effect on him. Even though he cannot communicate I know he knows I am there. I know if Dad ends up in a care facility here all alone in Florida that he will not make it. For the last few weeks my home has been the chair bed next to his hospital bed in the ICU. I sleep right beside him the same way he was right beside me when as a child I had a bad dream. I tell him its just a bad dream and one day soon we will wake up. I cannot leave Daddy behind. I have enlisted a social worker to help me get Daddy to NYC where I will be close by and if they allow me I will spend the night by his side no matter how long it takes until my Daddy is once again the way he was before this entire ordeal. While he still has active insurance in New York City and emergency insurance in Florida to cover his stay in the ICU the insurance does not cover the transport needed to get him to New York. As of now he can be flown to NY VIA and ICU equipped airplane. They also have a medic ICU ambulance but its a long trip that he is not ready to make but he has been approved to be flown to NY if possible . The problem we face is the cost not covered by insurance is anywhere between 10,000 and 18,000 dollars out of pocket. Unfortunately we do not have that kind of money nor does anyone we know but we do have faith that we can create a network of people who can help us with whatever they can donate to our GoFund me page and help us bring papi home, home to NYC where he will be surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who adore him and by me who will fight tooth and nail to help him recover to his fullest . I have so much faith in my GREAT God who has brought him this far to help him recover 100 percent. Won't you help us bring PAPI home? I am asking all of you to please share this link on your Facebook page, your Twitter feed or any other social media you use. If you cannot donate then please send a prayer, all the prayers that have come our way have worked in Dads favor. A man who should have died is still very much alive and improving every day. God is great and as my favorite verse Romans 8:28 states "allllllllll things work together for the good of those who love the LORD'. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be making updates as soon as I have them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
