You ever have someone that you would risk your entire world for? For me, it's my mom. I am starting this fundraiser for my 43-year-old mother, Tammy Hayden. After a heartbreaking change in her health back in 2022, at just 39 years old, my mom suffered multiple CVA strokes. Inland Hospital initially shrugged off her symptoms and sent her home with Halidol. The very next day, she suffered another stroke. This left her unable to use her right side. She used a brace for her right leg and walked with a quad cane while she slowly relearned how to walk. Unfortunately, that brace has since broken, and we are unable to replace it. She's been solely in a chair now for two years, maybe more. I've been scratching and clawing to get her help this whole time with zero relief. Since then, she has not received the medical attention she needed for proper recovery. She does not qualify for MaineCare or Social Security. Now she has zero medical coverage and has been left to the wolves. She had a primary care doctor through Inland Hospital to get her medications at the very least. Then they closed down. She now has none of the meds she needs to live comfortably. They strongly recommend blood thinners to prevent another stroke. Baby aspirin for her heart. Tammy was put on muscle relaxers to help her body not be in so much pain from the aftermath of the strokes. Baclofen to help with spasticity and clonus in her leg. She took blood pressure meds. Gabapentin for depression and anxiety. Now she's out of everything. It's 2026 now, and she is wheelchair bound and is living day after day with the same old routine. Tammy rarely leaves the house, and when she does, it causes her pain. She needs professionals that know how to treat her, people to help her move and exercise. I, as her daughter, can only handle and do so much. Watching someone so loved go through this has been incredibly hard on the whole family, especially knowing that more care and support could help improve her quality of life tremendously. I just can't do it alone. I've exhausted all my resources and gotten nowhere. I do not like asking for help, but my mom deserves the best care, and I want it for her so badly. She didn't lose any brain functions. Somehow, that makes it worse, knowing she fully understands her situation and not being able to move in the way she desires. It shatters my heart. Her emotions are more unstable, but that's to be expected. It's said after the first two years of recovery that's probably where you'll be the rest of your life. Sadly, she never made much progress where doors kept getting slammed in her face. I want to give her her best chance, and that is this. She's such a lovely woman. She deserves the chance to be whole again. Any funds raised will go directly toward getting my mother the medical attention, rehabilitation, and medications she needs. This support could help her take important steps toward comfort, stability, and a better daily life. I am 24, working hard, and simply want my mom to have the chance to live her life with dignity and hope. Instead of being filled with sadness, watching her completely give up. Anything helps. Every donation, no matter the size, will be deeply appreciated and never taken for granted. If you are able to give or share this fundraiser, your kindness and support will mean so much to me, my mother, and the people who love her.
