That is the environmental equivalent of removing roughly 300 passenger cars from Florida roads for a year [1].Massive Energy Savings: Pushing these materials back into the circular economy saved enough industrial electrical power to run more than 4,500 homes for a full month [1].Protecting Our Local Waters: By diverting appliances and scrap metal, we prevented heavy industrial mining demands and directly shielded delicate local aquatic habitats like the Indian River Lagoon from toxic heavy metal leaching [1].The Crisis We Face Today:I teach about resilience and walking by faith through the heaviest storms, but today, I am facing a bottleneck where I must humbly ask my community for a blessing.At the worst possible personal and financial moment, our 22-year-old workhorse truck finally gave out at 300,000 miles with a blown head gasket. To make matters more complicated, the vehicle is severely underwater with negative equity. I owe $3,800 on it, it does not run, and I currently have no credit to lean on for a traditional replacement.Without wheels, our free community scrap pickup operations are completely frozen. My name is Stephen Cordes, and for the last 5 years, I’ve operated Scrapguyz with a simple mission: Keep Florida green by providing a 100% free recycling service to our community. To date, using only a 22-year-old 2004 F150, we have successfully diverted over 500 tons (1 million pounds!) of metal, appliances, and auto parts from ending up in our local landfills. 
 
The problem is that my veteran truck has reached its limit. The constant strain of pulling heavy loads is causing constant repairs, tire replacements, and high fuel costs. To keep this service free for everyone—and to keep that next 500 tons out of the earth—I need a reliable, higher-capacity vehicle. Scaling this movement is impossible if the truck is in the shop or unable to handle the growing demand from local residents and businesses. 
 
A new, heavy-duty truck and upgraded equipment will help us serve more people, increase our daily collection capacity, and keep more recyclable materials out of landfills. This will allow us to continue offering our free service and focus on growing our impact in the community. I love what I do, and I love the people on the Treasure Coast.
