 One day while I was driving through an urban neighborhood I saw this tiny kitten cross the street. He was dirty and alone. He didn't look like he would survive on his own for much longer. So I pulled over and watched for a while to see if a mother cat or human would show up. After about fifteen minutes I got out to get a closer look.

 It was love at first site. I had to take this helpless little kitten with me.

 After cleaning him up and a few days of feeding him he already started looking a lot better. He was much healthier and definitely happier. He quickly became part of our family and with his new life he gained a new name: Spade!

 Things were going great but after a few weeks Spade seemed to be having health issues. His breathing was becoming a problem. We visited our vet to treat what we thought was a return of a respiratory infection but things kept getting worse. Eventually our vet realized it could be something more. We need to see a specialist. We suspect Spade has polyp(s) in his nose. Removal is possible but expensive. Spade needs to be seen and treated by a specialist. My family can't afford these expenses. We're looking for some help in getting Spade treated. These funds will cover some vet costs we've already accrued as well as the estimated costs for treatment. Any overage will be donated to the KC Pet Project.

I wake up every day to work my dream job, advocating for people and spreading truth. This community we’ve built is truly so special; which is what makes me so unbelievably honored to be writing this.

<div>I’m turning 26 years old on August 19th, and I had an idea: what if we all chipped in with a goal of raising $26,000 toward a non-profit organization for my 26th birthday? If 2,600 people were willing to give $10, we’d be able to make it happen!

<div>When I started researching which non-profit to pick, I knew I wanted to choose one that supports survivors of domestic or sexual violence. Given that so much of my platform has been built by advocating for survivors, it felt especially aligned. That’s when I thought of <a href="https://www.freefrom.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FreeFrom</a> — a queer, BIPOC, survivor-led organization focusing on ending gender-based violence by building economic freedom and safety with survivors. FreeFrom gets cash into the hands of survivors, giving them the financial foundation they need to build a thriving life on their own terms. Immediately, I knew it was my first pick.

In addition to amplifying the stories and news out of Minneapolis, we will be spending time getting into "<em>good</em> good trouble", and contributing funds and resources to local on the ground organizers who are on the front lines.

Support some GOOD good trouble in Minnesota

<div>We are looking for help to <strong>have a VERY large fatty tumor removed from our dog, "Bowie", a male Catahoula</strong>. We have had numerous veterinarian appointments and biopsies and they determined it was a fatty tumor. They said he was in good health and so far the tumor is on the outside of his ribs. We had hoped to wait for surgery so we could save up some money after all the vet bills. Unfortunately, the tumor is growing faster and needs to be removed. It's now close to the size of a volleyball on his side. <strong>We are hoping to get some help so we can have this removed as soon as possible</strong>.

Our greatest needs are Tidy Cat Scoopable Litter, Purina Cat Chow and Purina Kitten Chow. We always need help with our vet bills too!!
