I’m Carole, and I’m a school teacher who never expected to be in this position. Because I don’t get paid during the summer months, I usually plan carefully to make it through until the school year begins again. This summer, though, I was hospitalized for most of it, and everything changed. Along with trying to recover, I’m now facing a heavy stack of medical bills on top of my regular household expenses. It has been overwhelming to carry all of this at once, especially after being unable to work during the months when I already don’t receive a paycheck.

 The support from this fundraiser will help me catch up on the bills that have piled up while I’ve been out. Specifically, it will go toward paying down my medical bills, covering my house note and car note, and fixing the AC that went out while I was in the hospital. I’m a very independent person and I don’t typically ask others for help, so this is not easy for me to do. But right now, any amount would truly make a difference and help me get back on my feet.

Support Cocos fight against cancer

<div>On Tuesday morning, June 30, I was still waking up when I heard my goat Bertie screaming outside. Bertie is our tripod goat, and I immediately ran outside to find a white husky mix attacking her only hind leg. She was bleeding and in distress. I chased the dog off the property and called animal control, the vet, and my daughter to help me load Bertie for the hour-long drive to our vet. We then discovered that Butter, our most recent rescue and smallest resident, had also been attacked. She was bleeding from her back and hindquarters and was in shock.

<div> Vet bills are mounting, and neither goat can walk—especially Bertie, who cannot stand now because of the injury to her only hind leg. We need specialized care for Bertie, and both goats will be on extended stall rest. With temperatures over 100 degrees, we need to find a solution for keeping them safe and comfortable, as the barns are too hot during the day. I have a contractor coming to assess what can be done for the barns, and my vet said they could refer us to NC State vet hospital. I have purchased several wheelchairs to see if any will work for Bertie, as well as portable kennels with shade.

<div> Any donation will help offset the costs already incurred and support upcoming vet visits, specialist referrals, and possible surgery for Bertie, whose knee may have been injured in the attack. The vet suspects torn ligaments, and advanced imaging is needed to confirm. Your support will help us give Butter and Bertie the best chance at a full recovery after this brutal dog attack. They're both so loved and have already been through a lot in their short lives. Butter is a rescue we adopted from Red Dog Farm sanctuary, and Bertie was adopted back in 2020 with her mother Lumos, who is also so worried about her kid.

Robert Lee Camp was the kind of man who could walk into any room and instantly make it brighter. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, he was a proud West Charlotte Lion — wearing #33 as a first-string defensive end on the team that went undefeated and reached the state finals at UNC Chapel Hill. But football was just one chapter of a life overflowing with love, laughter, and music.

 Music was Robert's language. As a member of the 90s vocal group Perfect Blend, he helped the group win the Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, DC in 1995. His deep bass voice — inspired by his beloved Boyz II Men — could move a room to tears, especially when he sang It's So Hard to Say Goodbye. But as much as Robert loved music, he loved his people more. His mother Gail, his son Taylor, his brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, and the countless friends who became family — they were his whole world. He had a heart with no limits and no conditions, and he made every person feel like they truly mattered. And no matter what you were going through, Robert could pull a laugh out of you and remind you, gently and hilariously, that everything is going to be alright.

 On May 7, 2026, we lost him suddenly. His family now needs help covering his funeral and final expenses. The funds raised will help his mother and family say a proper goodbye and ease the financial burden during this difficult time. Any amount you can give is a true blessing. Celebrating the Life of Robert Lee Camp

<div>Hello everyone, I'm Emerson Easley. I'm currently a resident of Gem City Rehabilitation Nursing Facility. I've been in the nursing home for over 6 months due to physical circumstances that completely changed my life all at once. In the middle of 2025, I started getting extremely sick. I developed pneumonia, blood clots in my lungs, and later found out that I also had a hernia that will require surgery. On top of that, I also have degenerative joint disease, where I have no cartilage in my hips that will require hip replacement surgery as well.

<div>By God's grace, I've been recovering and mostly healed, but still dealing with the aftereffects of both issues. Also, while in the nursing home, I had an emergency scare. I started throwing up blood and bile, and they had to run a tube down my nose to my stomach to drain the blood and bile. On top of that, I can hardly walk, and I'm currently homeless with nowhere to go if I did get released!

<div>I was receiving disability benefits, but my benefits were cut off and I'm now in the process of an appeal. <strong>My goal is to raise enough money to be able to comfortably start over upon my release.</strong> I will need to get a new place and most likely will need a custom vehicle to assist with my disability in order to continue driving.
