The word Ark is used for a big boat and the name “Critter’s Ark Welfare Organization” is an inspiration from NOHA’s (Prophet Noah A.S.) ark which gave shelter to every kind of living being and saved them once and for all by the will and order of almighty Allah.

<div>Critter’s Ark is an animal rights organization fighting for the rights of animals in Pakistan. We run a small shelter in Islamabad. We rescue both Domestic and Wild animals.

<div>At our shelter, you will find rescued performing monkeys who had been snatched from their mothers as babies and forced to walk on the hot streets of Pakistan, beaten into submission to perform for humans. We also care for native eagles who’ve been injured, mostly by the invisible, cutting threads of children’s kites.

<div>At Critter’s Ark, we also rescue the most desperate creatures from animal markets around Islamabad and the neighbouring city of Rawalpindi. Those markets are not policed or regulated, and it's where poorly-breed dogs, cats, and birds are sold. These animals are kept in the most horrific of conditions crammed into cages, often left in sweltering shops or in the hot sun.

<div>We work day and night advocating for the rights of street animals and are actively involved in ending the cruel practice of dog culling. Promoting the method of TNVR so that street dogs can exist in our society without fear of being murdered in cold blood.

<div>We desperately need funds to keep our animal rights work going in a country where animal suffering and abuse are widespread, and where activists like us are doing the best that we can. We’ve rescued and are caring for more than 250 animals, all of whom need care, food, and medical checkups. We’d love to do more, but we need your help.

HELP STRAY ANIMALS IN PAKISTAN

<div>Todd's Welfare Society (TWS) is a small registered non-profit organisation, based in Lahore that came into existence in 2016. TWS aims to save, rescue, and treat the street animals of Lahore and also works to promote animal welfare in Pakistan. Our work to protect these vulnerable animals is extremely difficult in a country with no animal welfare laws or provisions. The condition of stray animals is pitiful as animal abuse is rife, with dogs being routinely starved, shot, and poisoned. Dogs such as Mercy, whose leg had to be amputated after being beaten mercilessly.

<div>We at TWS are trying to save these animals in a society where these animals are considered unclean or a nuisance, not worthy of life. These animals have no one to turn to, but we try to help as many as possible by providing them with shelter, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and searching for forever homes.

<div>In 2021 / 2022 we ran fundraisers to help secure funds for a bigger and better sanctuary. Our current sanctuary is too small, and due to lack of space, we cannot help as many rescues as we want. We were over the moon when the target was achieved, but we met a significant obstacle. We planned on purchasing one acre of land but with time we realised that one acre would not meet our needs. After a great deal of legwork and research, we have finally found the land that will be perfect for our hospital and sanctuary.

<div><strong>We are now actually purchasing extra land on which we will have the donkey sanctuary – this will be the largest donkey sanctuary in Pakistan. </strong>

<div>The lifespan of a healthy and well-looked-after donkey is 25 – 30 years, but that is not the case in Pakistan, where the life span of a working donkey is 10 – 12 years. They work day and night without proper access to food, water, or medical treatment. And after all these years of hard service once too sick or injured they will be discarded like rubbish and left to die.

<div>Tiny and weak, she had several open wounds on her body and was suffering from rectal prolapse. Her chances of survival were low but we felt she deserved a chance. Sadly, April did not make it but she made us realise that we have to do more for these poor creatures. Life had not been kind to April but we have to help all the others like her suffering daily.

<div>Our kind supporters will know that we carry out TNVR projects within Lahore. This has shown us how desperately we need a separate TNVR facility with kennels, a clinic, an operating theatre, and post-op kennels. A separate TNVR facility will mean that we can spay and neuter as many street dogs as possible to reduce the population humanely and protect them from being culled.

<div>We also have no post-op areas for dogs to allow them to recover fully and without mixing. We need a separate area exclusively for puppies. Sadly, a common occurrence in our work is having to rescue orphan puppies, tiny babies who have lost their mothers to dog culling.

Help TWS build Pakistan's Largest Animal Sanctuary

<div>Many years ago, when ACF was just a small team with a big dream, this very GoFundMe became our first real lifeline.

<div>We were a fledgling rescue trying to save a handful of animals on borrowed time and borrowed space. There were no animal rights in sight. No support systems. No public understanding. But we had a mission: to rescue, rehabilitate, and restore dignity to the forgotten animals of Pakistan.

<div>Back then, we only had 4 animals in our shelter. Today — thanks in large part to the support we’ve received through this very campaign — we are housing over 1,800 rescued animals on 1.25 acres of rented land while actively building Pakistan’s first-ever dedicated animal rescue sanctuary on our very own 2.25 acres of purchased land.

<div>To continue saving lives, we have secured land to build a large-scale animal sanctuary. This project will provide:

<div>✔️ Medical care &amp; surgeries in a dedicated hospital block
</div>
<div>✔️ TNVR facilities to humanely control stray animal populations
</div>
<div>✔️ A sustainable rescue center using solar power &amp; biogas
</div>

<div>Spacious, secure kennels where rescued dogs can heal in a stress-free environment. Once recovered, they’ll move into sanctuary to live freely and safely.

<div><strong>Cattery (Capacity 1,500+ cats)</strong>
</div>
<div>A dedicated sanctuary providing care for rescued stray and abandoned cats.

</div>
<div>A safe, enriched space for rescued birds needing long-term care and rehabilitation.

</div>
<div>Shelters for donkeys, horses, and mules rescued from abuse, abandonment, or harsh labor.

<div>Housing for cows, goats, sheep, and other farm animals rescued from neglect or mistreatment.
