My name is Lindsey and one week ago, my husband rescued this sweet American foxhound that we named Molly in the freezing cold on Camp Mackall, a military base in Moore County NC. She was emaciated, low energy but loving and affectionate. She was unchipped &amp; unclaimed. I brought her to the vet the next day. We are currently treating her for many different parasites but we are heartbroken to say she is heartworm positive. The vet believes with after 3 different days of spinal injections and overnight monitoring, x-rays etc, Molly will be heartworm free and live a long healthy life. The shelters are full &amp; there are not many options for this girl in our area, but this sweety deserves a good life. We were devastated to hear that their quote of this procedure ranges from $2200-$2500. I also priced out 2 other Vets and it was the same. This was all very unexpected but hoping to raise money for this procedure scheduled for January 6th. Thank you so much. As you may know, we recently and unexpectedly lost our beloved Auntie Lupe, known to most of you as Lupita, and her son Michael, known to us as Mikey. She was a mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend, and neighbor to all. Lupe meant so much to so many and we're all extremely devastated by this enormous loss. We're starting this gofundme to help alleviate some of the overwhelming expenses her surviving son, our cousin Cameron, has incurred thus far. While preparing to lay his mother and brother to rest, Cameron has experienced unforeseen delays in death benefits and overwhelming expenses. Therefore, he is now faced with the enormous burden of covering the mounting costs in order to avoid further delay. Our precious Auntie Lupe was a beautiful spirit who loved to help others in need. She was hardworking and always willing to lend a hand. After retiring with nearly 32 years at GM, she continued to work part time and continued to help others in any way she could. At this time, we are now asking for help with any blessings (financial assistance) you may be able to offer. Any contributions made will be used to help lay Lupita and Mikey to rest, no amount is too small. Lupita was my Auntie Lupe and Mikey was my cousin, therefore I'm Cameron's cousin.  Thank you doesn't seem like enough, in trying to help ease the financial burden/funeral expenses of the loss of my Auntie Lupe and my Cousin Mikey.  On November 19th my cousin Cameron was notified that insurance benefits to pay for the funerals would not be available, due to beneficiary issues, therefore there was no money to pay to lay my Aunt and Cousin to rest, as he/we had thought/hoped.  Cameron's Favela cousins (Lupita's nieces and nephews) did not want him to worry about any of the financial aspect and worry about coming up with money on his own for their funerals; we felt he already had a lot to deal with, with the tragic loss of his Mom and Brother, so we took it upon ourselves to start this gofundme, I as lead. The funeral home needed to be paid in full by Friday, November 22nd, and once we realized we wouldn't be able to withdraw the money and receive it in time from gofundme, I got a personal loan for the $16,500 to pay off both the mortuary for both my Auntie Lupe and Mikey, and the cemetery for both. I now need to pay that loan off and will do so with the gofundme withdraw, once it is finally approved and received. The money remaining that was generously donated from all of you, once received, I will send directly to my cousin Cameron to help pay for additional expenses that come up while closing my Aunt's apartment, closing her and Mikey's bills/accounts, etc. We were able to lay them to rest together, with the utmost love, respect, and honor, as they deserved. All food, flowers, and the mariachi that were at the beautiful service honoring and remembering my Aunt and Cousin, were sent as separate loving gifts/donations from friends and family of the Cullen's/Favela's.  I originally did not want to put any of this info, because I did not want my cousin Cameron to worry about it. A Family Tragedy; Lupita & Mikey Burial Fund

<img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33146236_1537519432166998_r.jpeg" alt="33146236_1537519432166998_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> Living abroad while at times a positive and enriching experience always carries some risk.  In the last couple of days a worst case scenario has become a reality for one of our own, with a medical diagnosis that changes everything in a nano-second. You may know Kristen from Bali, her native California or travelling abroad - but to us she’s family.  And if you are talking about a genuine, fun-loving, honest, and loving person you can’t get anyone more so than Kristen.  If you’ve had the pleasure of calling Kristen a friend, you’ll know this as much as we do.  She’s one in a million and is loved as much as she loves. On Wednesday 19 September following some symptoms and a chance CT scan, Kristen was presented with the confronting revelation that several masses in her brain were apparent in the scans. This initial diagnosis while worrying were nothing compared to the next morning’s revaluation.  Kristen has 5 visible masses on her brain and the largest, at the front right of the skull, is 5cm in diameter.  After ruling out some initial possibilities we were left with option of cysts or tumours. Unfortunately due to Kristen’s medical history - she fought and beating Melanoma in her early 20s - these new medical developments likely mean the melanoma has reappeared and at a secondary point to the first cancer. On recommendations from Kristen’s oncologist in the States and after consultation with specialists around the world - the safest immediate plan was to get Kristen home to the States and with a sense of urgency.  Unfortunately the large tumour on the right side of Kristen’s brain is impeding this, and we were offered advice that Kristin in unable to fly on a commercial airline to the States and will need to be sent private/MediVac’ed/air ambulance.  Due to the pressure this tumour is placing on her brain, the risks of flying on a commercial flight were potentially fatal. The reason Medi Vac presented as the most attractive option is due to the medical assistance by Doctor/Nurse available en route while flying at a considerably lower altitude. This means the pressure on Kristen's skull caused by the growing tumours was  considerably less &amp; safer to get our girl back to home-soil safely.  Travel insurance cover isn’t possible as this is a pre-existing condition and while there are options to medivac her to a closer country with appropriate Western medical attention, her oncologist in the United States has recommended Kristen’s immediate and urgent return.  Kristen is going to give this one a hell of a fight for her life, removing the large tumour and commencing what likely will be an intense &amp; invasive treatment plan - we just need to get her from a to b for that to happen.  Any donated funds will go directly to Kristen’s immediate journey home to the States, and ongoing medical costs. With an overwhelming amount of support we received 65K USD in private donations + an increasing number of GoFundMe contributions.    Kristen was transferred to a Singaporean Hospital under the care of a renowned brain surgeon after being transported on medical advice from Bali by Medi Vac air ambulance on the evening of 22 September. After discussions with both medical teams in Singapore and the United States it was decided to continue with the plan to Medi Vac air ambulance Kristen urgently to the States.  The response from around the globe has been overwhelming and we cannot thank you all enough.  We do need more support - and we are asking for all of your assistance.  Every penny is needed - help us continue this miracle operation and make the seemingly impossible happen. With the love, support and generosity of every single person out there we cried tears of joy confirming Kristen was flown home. With enough financial funds needed to secure a Medi-Vac air ambulance, Kristen was transported from Singapore to the United States arriving Sunday 30 September. A true testament of how the power of love can overcome challenges no matter how impossible they seem!  We want to thank each and every one of you for the helping hand - Kristen is now home receiving support from family and friends got her next challenge and the road ahead and this was made possible by the generosity of every person who donated.
