I’m posting today with an urgent plea to help my sweet dog, Rocky, who is in desperate need of medical care/surgery. He suffered multiple puncture wounds during an unexpected attack by an unknown loose dog that wandered onto our property. Rocky was taken to the vet immediately on Wednesday after it occurred. While he’s currently on antibiotics, pain meds, and receiving wound care, his condition has taken a turn for the worse. The wounds are now oozing and have a foul odor—signs of a serious infection. Without continued treatment, Rocky’s health and quality of life are at serious risk.
 
He has been to our primary vet, and we had to go to Valley ER Vet on Friday, July 4th, due to his wounds taking a turn for the worse in 48 hours. 
 
The ER vet did a debridement procedure on Rocky Friday but said his wounds are severe. She stated: Rocky's wounds are quite severe, and there are two large ones on the chest that have extensive pockets underlying them. 
 
Unfortunately, the more superficial soft tissue underlying the skin in those pockets is now necrotic. 
 
Referral to a surgeon to extensively open and debride these tissues, and wound vacs to continuously drain any discharge, follow up with primary vet first thing Monday. Staged procedures or hospitalization may end up being necessary to resolve these now infected wounds.

Rocky is fighting so hard to heal, and I’m doing everything I can for him, but the cost of vet visits, medications, and potential procedures has become more than I can afford alone. 
 
Used Care Credit so far for his ER procedure, which is now maxed just from this incident occurring. 
 
Rocky is my 12-year-old's ESA for her anxiety and past trauma. They're extremely close, and both need each other just as much as the one. Rocky is an all-around rockstar who loves everybody, 2-legged and 4-legged.
