Light Up Christmas for 400 kids in Peru

<div>On Friday, August 30, 2024, I was terminated from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Park Planning after alerting the public regarding a secret, fast-tracked plan to build golf courses, 350-room hotels, disc golf courts, and pickleball courts within critical habitats across 9 of our Florida State Parks. These atrocious proposals, which were not going to be released until the day before the scheduled public meetings, have been suspended for now, and we are all feeling great about that. As a state employee and single dad working a weekend side-job, I knew that sounding the alarm was a risky move. However, I saw myself as a public servant first and felt that it was the only ethical thing to do. This issue became far more important than any individual’s employment status with DEP. As I seek a path forward professionally in coming days and weeks, I would be incredibly grateful for anyone willing to lend a hand; any amount would be appreciated.

<div>I have been with the Office of Park Planning for over two years, serving with dedication while building my skills as a cartographer and specializing in maps of Florida’s mosaic of conservation lands, especially Florida State Parks. After the best two years of my professional career, where I built great relationships with Florida Park Service staff all over the state and enjoyed mapping out a significant swath of our amazing park system, I was directed to create nine maps depicting shocking and destructive infrastructure proposals, while keeping quiet as they were pushed through an accelerated and under-the-radar public engagement process. My decision to make my maps public, along with the accompanying proposal summaries, ended my career with the Florida Park Service. Whether I start my own business or join a more conservation-minded organization, I’m ready to get back to work as a professional cartographer!

<div>ever meet. Patricia Rengifo, 40, is the backbone of many peoples’ lives. She has cared for her parents along with raising an incredible daughter, Phoenix. She married her soul mate, Ryan, a year ago and bought their first home in the just recent months. Patricia is not only the backbone of her family at home, but she also carries the role of best friend, sister, and work mom at her current job.

<div>Recently Patricia had to undergo an emergency appendectomy, in which the doctors first noticed the “dark spot” in left lung on the x-rays. With the appendix out and a biopsy done of the area in her lung, we all wait. Her diagnosis is Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma.
</div>

<div>She will be undergoing surgery and chemo treatments 4 hours away at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Which is not an easy 1 day journey.
</div>

<div>My hopes here, are to help her alleviate even some of the financial hurdles that will be coming her way. Even if just enough to give her some relief on any other stress while she is tackling this.
</div>

Now we are working in provide daily food to more then 100 families in different communities in the north of Peru. And some times we are providing food to more than 2000 families. We know is hard to ask for help when everyone is in need but if you can your help will be providing food in the places where is most need it.<br /><br />COVID-19 está poniendo en aprietos a millones de personas en todo el mundo, pero siempre son los más necesitados los que están llevando la peor parte. Ahora estamos trabajando para proporcionar alimentos diarios a más de 100 familias en diferentes comunidades en el norte de Perú.  Cuando es posible estamos proporcionando apoyo a más de 2000 familias.  Sabemos que es difícil pedir ayuda cuando todos lo necesitan, pero si puedes, tu ayuda proporcionará alimentos en los lugares donde más se necesitan.

Food for families in Peru

Imane is a young Moroccan girl who is in need of our support and prayers! I received a call from a friend a couple of weeks ago who informed me about her situation; Imane was in coma for 6 months after a tragic car accident! it happened around a time in which we lost a very close friend to most of us down here( Reda allah yrahmo)  and her accident was kind of overshadowed by his death may his soul rest in peace. Doctors  told us that she has come a long way and she is really fighting to get on her feet again. Like many others, Imane came in pursuit of a better life, continuing education.. Yet God had other plans for her. Shortly after relocating from Orlando to Boca Raton, Imane was involved in a car accident which no one anticipated she would survive. But the strong person she is, she never gave up, she fought, went through dozens of surgeries.. Her mother came a long way from morocco to be by her side all this time. The hospital has decided that their job was done and Imane needs some extensive therapy and needs to leave the hospital today. In the past few days, the word spred out and the Moroccan community came together to show support and help. Imane left the hospital today. Her and her mother are temporary staying in a hotel till we are able to locate a rehab facility who would accept treating the "non insured Imane", after we do so, then we will get Imane and her mother a convenient place where they can stay. The mighty health system is being who it is, and the helpless Imane and her mother were teeth less knowing their rights in a corporate insurance greedy law. Let's come together as we should. It could have been any of us. Help with whatever u can, a deposit, a prayer, a word of mouth...  She needs us!!
