<div>Hi My name is Fiona. Im a Support worker in Nambour. I came across a post on Facebook about a gentleman named Robert (Bobby) Aitken wanting to swap his vehicle for small van to live in once his wife goes into a nursing home. Bobby wont be able to afford rent by himself on a pension when this happens.

<div>Bobby has been an integral part of the Noosa Community. He first visited Noosa in 1961 and fell in love with the area and the great surf. He moved to Noosa in 1962 and has lived there ever since. He has had over 100 jobs including working at the Beach House Guesthouse, managing Tingirana Motel, the Woods Caravan Park and Munna Point Campground, shaping surfboards with Trevor Hewston, fishing with the Massouds, dredging Hays Inlet to create Noosa Sound, running the riding school at Hoffman’s Ranch, and driving the school bus. He has been involved in competitive surfing and boardriding clubs and is a devoted longboarder. For a number of years, he was involved with the Noosa Coastguard. Over a period of sixty years, Bobby has made friends with and met a wide range of local characters. He has been involved in youthful high jinks, suffered tragic events, and witnessed some unexplainable phenomena.

<div>Since this fund-raiser started I have become great friends with Bobby and Gail. When the donations come through i send them straight to Bobby and Gail and they have used some of the donations so far to purchase a van!! Bobby is now looking a sprucing it up inside to make it liveable and using funds to pay for registration, insurances and to help Gail with nursing home costs.

<div>Ballymore’s Resources has a pending application for a Gold Mining LEASE (ML100351) at Dittmer, Whitsundays.
</div>
<div>This means full blown production at Dittmer; for a project proposed as the ‘Next Ravenswood’ (biggest gold mine in QLD) on the edge of Kelsey creek, in the hinterland of the Whitsundays.
</div>

<div>Dittmer/Kelsey Creek falls into 2 water catchments Great Barrier Reef and Peter Faust Dam (drinking water for the entire Whitsundays). Dittmer and the proposed mine site and production plant is home to 4 federally endangered MNES species.

<div>We aim to contest the approval of this mine.

<div>WHY?
</div>
<div>•	Ballymore has done no EPBC REFERAL (MNES)- this needs to be done by the mining company prior to any action or activity with any potential to harm federally 'protected matters' such as 'threatened species and vegetation', 'water resources (under the EPBC precautionary principle)' and 'Great Barrier Reef'
</div>
<div>•	NO EIA-baseline environmental studies and data
</div>
<div>•	NO EIS-advanced environmental studies mixed with risks and mitigation of said risks to water, humans, threatened species and ecosystems, Great Barrier Reef
</div>
<div>•	NO first nation’s consultation- DOR has not answered our 'right to negotiate' questions, they chose to advertise the notification of this mine lease in two out of town papers and call that fair notification
</div>
<div>•	They aim to use 'cyanide' not safe in such a high rainfall elevated area and cyclone zone, imagine all it takes is one wet season storm and all that cyanide is downstream at the reef just 30 mins away, on the way it lands on important agricultural land
</div>
<div>•	They aim to 'backfill waste rock' not safe causes 'Acid Mine Drainage' poisons water, DEE RIVER AND WALSH RIVER IN LINKS BELOW ARE CLOSE TO HOME THIS EXAMPLES OF EXACTLY THIS
</div>

Save Whitsunday Water-Dittmer in the Proserpine State Forest

<p>While supporting and caring for my beautiful and amazing partner and soulmate Mikko as he graciously and diligently battled Synovial Sarcoma (a rare form of soft tissue cancer) we were pleasantly overwhelmed with the support of our friends and family who often asked the question 'How can I help?' During this often stressful and busy rollercoaster we couldn't even think of what we needed help with or time to accept those generous offers. <br />Mikko came to Australia from Finland and spread love and light everywhere he went. I made a promise to him that I would return him once the time came that he would move on from this world. As he has recently passed away I found the answer to that often proposed question from friends and family.<br />With the reduction of income due to my important role as carer, I need to raise funds to cover travel expenses so that I may return the ashes of a beautiful soul to his native and much loved Finland. Please help me to bring Mikko home by donating whatever you can afford. You will be doing something very special for a man who touched so many and gave so much. Please share with friends and family to help bring Mikko home. Thank you!</p>
