<div>As many of you know, Alan lost his right leg to an amputation (aka the "chippity chop") in 2017. Although the reasons may be fuzzy, and the stories you've heard range from a rusty bear trap to a shark attack, it's actually a tad more complex than that, and less exciting. After several failed surgeries and procedures, Alan underwent an amputation to avoid many more lengthy recoveries and severe, unmitigated pain. Several years later he remains the most ridiculous amputee most people have ever met, and has the worst dad jokes possible.

<div>Unfortunately, earlier this year he began experiencing pretty severe foot and ankle pain in his left leg. It's been months of pain medication, ankle injections, opinions and second opinions, ankle braces, and more. He has severe edema, arthritis, and bone spurs, caused by an underlying issue with his ankle joint and enormous flat foot. It has been recommended that he undergo a triple arthrodesis, which is the final surgery that he started with on the right side before needing an amputation so long ago, and has an intense recovery period (12 months), with no guarantee of any success As you can imagine, the thought of a surgery that provides no guarantees and with a history of amputation that could repeat itself, this is pretty terrifying. It's also not sustainable to continue with the current pain management and limited mobility either.

<div>We are excited to have found an alternate option that would allow for a bone marrow transplant and injection to reduce pain and create regenerative growth. This procedure is unfortunately not covered by insurance, which brings us here to ask for community support. As you can imagine, Alan is horrified by the thought of asking for help, and yet, after being someone who has spent years supporting others, I can't think of a more deserving human! <div>Caslon, one of our two resident felines, was behaving strangely today, and we realized that he accidentally ingested some human medication. (I imagine you're curious. It's the stuff I occasionally take for intermittent pain in my toes and knees. And I can't tell you the name of it because I'm 2,548.6 miles away from home.)

<div>My wife, Susi, can no longer drive because of complications from functional neurological disorder. A friend stepped in and rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital for us, where he was admitted and where he likely will be staying for at least two days.

<div>This fiasco could not have come at a worse time for our family and our wallets. Last month, I lost a lot of my freelance work time to Covid. I am at a conference where, though I'm affiliated with the organization, I have had to foot the bill to get there, and it is not an inexpensive journey. We're paying out of pocket for Susi's care while I'm at the conference. And Caslon already had another recent surprise vet visit, which wiped out our emergency funds. What was once a cushion is now an empty pillowcase.

<div>Susi and I were never lucky enough to have kids. This cat is beloved and lights up our home with his puckish mischief. He's eight years old and has what our friend observed as “little brother energy,” to the chagrin of his sister, Ghiva, who gives off vibes that are decidedly more adult. We adore both of these critters.

<div>When I posted an update on Cazzie's condition, several friends immediately suggested that I pass the hat via GoFundMe and, while ordinarily we are both by disposition and profession wanting to be the people who help others, this time around we genuinely need some help to get the proper emergency medical care to a beloved member of our family.

<div>The costs are hard to determine right now — it looks like we're starting at about $4,000 for a few days at VESH. Other measures might be pricier — if his condition worsens, we might be looking at far more. Any funds not expended will be donated to one of our local animal shelters.

I ended up with some major gut issues and got diagnosed with a heart condition (POTS) and am definitely in a Lyme flare up. Yikes! <div>Hi there! My name is Ruth Creamer. I'm looking for some financial support for supplements, appointments and labs for my ongoing chronic illness and autoimmune health issues to cover the next few months. Some of these expenses are a one time only (Labs), but they are pretty pricey (yet, important!)! Luckily, some of it is covered by health insurance, but a lot is not unfortunately. <div>As many of you know, I've had chronic Lyme and other viruses/ coinfections and autoimmune issues for quite a while. I used to be a fully functioning and very physically strong person up until the fall of 2014. I was a gardener and farmed. But, I was diagnosed with lyme in the winter of 2015 and went through a long bout off and on with antibiotics, but it didn't fully work. Ive worked with many modalities over the past 7 years. Some helped and some did not. I've healed a lot, but never fully “normal”. I've had time of being completely debilitated and other times where I can garden for a few hours per day.  So, why am I not better you're asking? There are underlying pathogens and health issues that are keeping my immune system busy making it hard to really fight off the Big L. I also have been healing from trauma and have had a lot of loss and emotional stress over the years, which has kept my body from fully healing too. There are a lot of other factors too like mold, allergies, even acute colds, and so forth! In other words, it's complicated!

<div>For me, I have approached healing on multiple levels- emotional, physical, energetic, genetic, and spiritual. This healing journey has changed my life in many ways- some difficult and some truly amazing.  I've had some of the hardest times of my life being ill for sure, but there have been a bounty of gifts that have arisen for me. It can be very discouraging, but I do have faith that I will get better and better in time. I have felt huge shifts and big strides toward health and healing. Healing chronic illness is not linear- it's definitely a winding journey.

Support to pay for Ruth’s medical bills

I'm starting this gofundme to help my dear friend Heather laughton and her family. <br /><br />They just lost everthing in a fire but worst of all they lost their beautiful little daughter Leena. This is such a hearbreaking time for this family and we all need to come together to help this beautiful family! ALL donations will go right to this family to help them get back on their feet and pay for the funeral costs for little Leena. <br /><br />The fire was yesterday in orange ma, starting in the early evening and consuming the entire house. Little Leena and her friend were sadly trapped in the closet and did not make it out of the house. Vinny who is heathers husband is being treated in the ICU with serious 2nd degree burns and smoke inhalation after heroically trying to save the little girls. Heather and Anthonly thankfully made it out with only minor burns, however the heartbreak is beyond any physical pain this family will ever endure. <br /><br />even a small donation of $5 will help tramendously! <br /><br />Thank you all and bless this family in their time of need. On Saturday, December 5th, Steve Cartwright passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.  Steve was the voice behind the Brit from Brat.  Due to the sudden nature of his death, Steve did not have any time to make arrangements for his services and to make sure expenses he normally covered for his teenage daughter, Hayley, were paid.  Now in addition to Hayley losing her father she has to figure out how to lay him down and how to make ends meet.  Unfortunately this responsibility falls on her shoulders as Steve moved to the United States from his home country of England as a young man twenty-five years ago and she is his only relative in this country.  His brother and his brother’s children still live in England.<br /><br />His daughter has one of the closest relationships with her father that anyone has seen a teenager have. Hayley believes her father would want to be cremated and have some of his ashes spread here and some in his favorite town in England, which he always considered to be his home.  Therefore, she is trying to have a service here and in England.  She simply does not have money for even the basic parts of his funeral expenses.  The money requested in this GoFundMe would be used for cremation, services and to bring her father home.  In addition your generous donation would help cover her every day expenses, such as health insurance, which her dad would normally help pay. Please donate as generously as you can.<br /><br />Steve was an amazing man who was loved by all and who loved all.  He had many friends and was one of the most caring people anyone could ever meet.  He also was endlessly funny and generous beyond words!  Steve was one of the best friends and fathers any person could have.  He held positions throughout his time in Vermont at Mt. Snow, The Brattleboro Reformer and Holiday Inn Express.  He had a strong relationship with all of the many programs his daughter took part in and was a beloved parent at each of these.  Steve made clear in his life that his daughter Hayley was the most important thing to him and nothing ever would come before Hayley.  He was an incredible father to her and a fantastic role model for many children and adults throughout his life.  He leaves behind his daughter Hayley and his relatives in England who will be named in his Obituary.<br /><br />Service dates and times will be set in the weeks to come. For now, please consider donating generously so that Hayley can focus solely on grieving the loss of her father as she should have the liberty and freedom to do, especially so close to the holidays- his favorite holiday.   The goal in this campaign is the minimum of what Hayley needs to cover expenses that her father would have and in reality the costs will be more then this!  Thank you so much for your loving support!
