I first met Finn six years ago on the side of a busy highway on a freezing night. He was so thin I could see his ribs, his fur was matted, and he wouldn’t meet my eyes. It took me hours to coax him into the car, but once he was home, I promised him he would never be cold, hungry, or unwanted again.
Since that night, Finn has been my shadow and my best friend. He’s also the reason I started taking in abandoned dogs over the years, keeping each one with me and giving them as much love and care as I possibly can. Finn has a gentle, patient nature, and he makes every new rescue feel safe and loved.
Last week, Finn became suddenly ill. The vet’s diagnosis broke my heart: parvovirus. Parvovirus is a highly contagious viral infection that attacks a dog’s intestines and immune system. It causes severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and weakness and without prompt treatment, it can be fatal, especially in older dogs like Finn. His treatment, IV fluids, medication, and close monitoring, is estimated at €2,600.
I’ve already put in every bit of my own savings toward his care, covering the majority of the cost. The amount I’m asking for here is just what’s left to get him through the full course of treatment. Time is critical. Every day counts in giving Finn the best chance to pull through.
Finn has fought so hard for the life he has now, and I can’t bear the thought of giving up on him when he needs me most. Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to us. If you can’t donate, even sharing his story could make a difference.
Thank you for reading about Finn and for caring about his fight.
