What they care about

SAVE MANLY: STOP THE SEP — URGENT CAMPAIGN UPDATE The proposed Manly Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) is NOW ON PUBLIC EXHIBITION. ⏰ SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 22 NOVEMBER 2026. Our campaign has entered a critical new phase. We are opposing the declaration of the SEP itself — not simply asking for lower noise limits. Approximately 8,000 residents live within the proposed precinct, and the implications go well beyond entertainment noise. ⚠️ THE STAKES HAVE INCREASED Our independent acoustic review has already identified more than 50 issues, including 14 critical flaws, in the proposed sound framework. Now, proposed NSW Government planning changes raise additional concerns about local planning control, residents' rights and opportunities to object to certain developments. These planning changes are not yet finalised, but their potential consequences for Manly are significant. HELP WITH YOUR FORMAL SUBMISSION We've prepared three FREE resources to help residents respond to Council: 1️⃣ 22 Reasons to Say NO — Simple Version 2️⃣ 22 Reasons to Say NO — Detailed Version 3️⃣ HOW TO NAVIGATE THE HAVE YOUR SAY FORM — A step-by-step guide to Council's online submission process. More resources, including a submission template, will be added shortly. Find these resources through our newly rebranded Facebook page. Search Facebook for: SAVE MANLY: STOP THE SEP Please share these resources with neighbours and encourage everyone to make their OWN submission. WHY WE URGENTLY NEED MORE FUNDING The next stage requires further independent professional expertise in three critical areas: 1️⃣ SPECIALIST LEGAL EXPERTISE — OUR TOP PRIORITY ⚖️ We need specialist legal advice to examine the consequences of declaring Manly an SEP, the implications for residents' protections and the legal avenues available to challenge the proposal and related decisions. 2️⃣ ADDITIONAL TOWN PLANNER HOURS Further expert assessment, reports, submissions and professional representation at meetings with Council and relevant authorities. 3️⃣ ADDITIONAL ACOUSTIC CONSULTANT HOURS Further technical analysis, supplementary reports, responses to Council's evidence and expert representation at meetings. TWO BIG THINGS WE NEED EVERY SUPPORTER TO DO 1. SHARE THIS FUNDRAISER ACROSS MANLY! We need to reach all 8,000 residents living within the proposed precinct. PLEASE SHARE THIS FUNDRAISER with your friends, neighbours, WhatsApp groups, local community networks and strata buildings. If everyone shares it just ONCE — and encourages others to do the same — we can reach thousands of residents who may still be unaware of what's proposed. 2. LIVE IN A STRATA BUILDING? HAS YOUR OWNERS CORPORATION DONATED? Thousands of Manly residents live in apartment buildings that may be directly affected. If you're an apartment owner, ask your strata committee whether your owners corporation has considered contributing to the campaign. PUT FORWARD A MOTION for your owners corporation to consider making a contribution, subject to the required approvals and its legal powers. Contributions can be made through this GoFundMe fundraiser or directly to the Manly Community Forum. Contact the campaign organisers through our Facebook page or the Manly Community Forum for details about direct contributions. Imagine the difference if Manly's strata buildings came together to help fund the expertise we need. ❤️ HELP US REACH OUR $45,000 TARGET With $24,795 raised so far, we need another $20,205 to reach our target. This funding is essential to support the next phase of legal, planning and acoustic work. Our main fundraising description is also being updated to reflect these latest developments and priorities. PLEASE SHARE. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN. PLEASE HELP US REACH MANLY. SAVE MANLY. STOP THE SEP. YOUR HOME. YOUR RIGHTS. YOUR MANLY.
Manly SEP Update – Important September Meeting Our work on the proposed Manly Special Entertainment Precinct continues, with an important next step on 23 September. Northern Beaches Council has engaged an independent acoustic consultant to undertake the peer review requested following Council’s May resolution. On 23 September, resident representatives and our independent acoustic consultant will meet directly with the peer reviewer to present residents’ concerns, evidence and experiences of entertainment noise in Manly. Councillors have also been invited to attend. The cost of having our specialist consultant attend and represent residents at important meetings like this is funded entirely through your donations. Thank you! This is exactly why our fundraising remains so important. We still need to raise further funds as the process continues, both for specialist meetings and advice and for the specialist legal advice we expect to require going forward. We are also expecting the NSW Gateway public consultation to open following the 23 September meeting, although Council has yet to confirm the timing. Once consultation opens, our town planner who has already been formally engaged through UPCR will begin their detailed work on behalf of residents. There are several critical stages still ahead. Every contribution helps ensure residents have access to the independent acoustic, planning and legal expertise needed to properly scrutinise this proposal. Thank you to everyone who has donated and continues to support the campaign.
