<div>Nina Griffin has proudly served her community as both a paramedic in emergency department at Boulder Community Health and as a paramedic in the field for well over 20 years in Boulder County, Colorado! She has been present for countless of emergencies and showing up for people, whoever and wherever they are, when they were in need.

Caring for Nina Griffin and Her Children

Ken Bradley is a lieutenant with Berthoud Fire and is well-known in the fire community as a dedicated teacher and leader. He and his wife, Carol, have three children, and their family has always been active in supporting others. Now, they are facing an unimaginable challenge.

 On Sunday, while driving to work, Ken was critically injured in a head-on collision caused by a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the HOV lane. The accident left Ken with multiple fractures in both legs, fractures to his left arm, a dislocated right shoulder, several broken ribs, a pneumothorax, a significant leg laceration, and a concussion. He has already undergone several surgeries and will need more in the coming days to repair the extensive injuries. Despite the severity of the accident, Ken’s resilience and the support of his family have been remarkable.

 Carol and their children are making daily trips from Colorado Springs to Denver to be by Ken’s side. The road to recovery will be long, and the family is facing mounting medical bills, travel expenses, and the challenge of supporting their children during this difficult time. Donations to this fundraiser will help cover medical costs, travel expenses, and provide much-needed support for Carol and the kids as Ken heals.

<div>On December 3, 2024, Boulder Police Officer Alex Kicera went to the Colorado Spine Institute for a post-MRI follow-up appointment initiated by back pain. The radiologist discovered slight aggravation in two of his disks but revealed the true reason for his lower back pain. Alex presented with numerous masses through his pelvis, abdomen and chest. His back pain was attributed to two of the masses near his kidneys, and he was sent immediately to the hospital for formal diagnosis and treatment.

<div>After he was admitted, he was taken to surgery, where a stint was placed in his kidneys and a biopsy was taken from a separate location in his pelvis for pathology. Alex was formally diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer that has metastasized through his pelvis, abdomen and chest. A port was placed for the oncoming aggressive chemotherapy regiment that he began on December 16, 2024.

<div>Alex just turned 32 years old and followed in his father’s footsteps and is currently serving the community as a Boulder Police Officer. Alex’s selfless bravery was most recently recognized by the Boulder Police Department with the presentation of the Medal of Valor for his acts of heroism during the 2021 mass shooting at the King Soopers in the City of Boulder. Alex preserved the lives of multiple victims and witnesses by quickly attempting to confront the suspect upon arrival on-scene, and then by ushering victims and witnesses to safety.

<div>Alex and Lacey are raising two boys, ages 6 and 7, as they navigate this challenging journey. Lacey also serves her community as a Dispatch Supervisor with the Boulder Police Department, so both Alex and Lacey are currently on leave to fight this battle together. Medical bills and related expenses are placing additional strain on Alex and Lacey in this journey, so any monetary contribution will undoubtedly help calm the storm. <div>Most of you know my mom, Robin Papale aka ‘Ally’s Mom’ or 'Robert's Wife'. She has always made my friends, and their families feel supported and loved. She is well known for making the best food, being kind, geneneous, and without fail decorating for every holiday. She is truly my best friend and anchor.

<div>Unfortunately she has been battling for her health and the severity of those issues have been not only affected her physically, but financially as well. My mom is in ongoing treatment for her chronic illnesses. These conditions, Fibromyalgia, Cardiomegaly, Hypokalemia and most recently Atrial Fibrillation have depleted my parents’ savings. This has resulted in my dad having to work extra shifts and pick up side jobs just to make ends meet.

<div>/23 an extreme medical episode resulted in us spending several days at Longmont United. During our stay multiple tests were ran inlcuing CT scan, EEG, MRI, and more. Thankfully, they were able to get her stable and back home, but none of the tests were able to find answers.

<div>Two weeks later 7/8/23 we found ourselves back at Longmont United and admited to ICU to moniter her most recent diagnoses Atrial Fibrillation.

I have been joining the visits to the neurologist, cardiologist and internal medicine doctors to help in finding answers. My father needs to be there for my mom in this great time of need but and has had to cut hours out of his work week to be home with her every night. My parents are both very private people who don’t rely on others to make ends meet.

<div>My dad has worked decades to provide for our family, but due to the nature of the U.S medical billing system, getting proper care for the love of his life has left them in financial strain. <div>Last October, she was diagnosed with AGASACA, a cancerous tumor on the anal glands. We proceeded with surgery to remove the mass and have been doing ultrasound rechecks every three months to check for any spread, all of which have come back clean until this most recent one.

<div>Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that the cancer has metastasized to the lymph nodes. At only 8 years old and not showing ANY outward signs of sickness, I'm determined to do whatever it takes to continue fighting this for my girl. Our time together just isn't close to being over. <div>The suggested treatment is a fairly aggressive radiation as well as ongoing chemotherapy. As we all know, our own healthcare costs can be outrageous and unfortunately it is the same in the veterinary world. I don't have a total estimated cost yet, but I do know I can’t do it on my own this time.

Piper Is A Fighter

<div>On Friday, September 30, Nico Garavito was tragically hit while riding his motorcycle by a reckless driver who ran a stop sign coming off of the highway near Nico's home in Minneapolis. The vehicle's driver fled the scene, but fortunately, Nico was not alone and his companions called for help, and he was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Nico suffered severe injuries to the skull, brain, face, eye, hips, leg and arm and has already undergone multiple surgeries.
</div>

</div>
<div>Nico remains in critical condition, and it is too early to know the extent of his brain injuries, but we know that he is a fighter and the doctors are cautiously optimistic. Despite the extreme circumstances of his trauma, he has been able to move his arms and legs, which we believe to be a positive sign. It was also initially thought that one of his legs may need to be amputated, but doctors have been working to set the main bones in his leg that were broken and it appears that blood is still flowing to his toes and he will be able to keep his leg.

<div>During this extremely difficult time, we ask for your support and prayers as we put Nico's care in God's hands. Currently, he is in critical condition and under intensive care. We pray that the angels will keep their eyes on Nico, and that he will fight through this. But even so, his injuries will require a multitude of follow-up surgeries, followed by a long rehabilitation and recovery process. We do not know how long Nico will be hospitalized, so we humbly ask our community to support Nico and his family during this absolutely devastating time.

Fight for Nico

<div>Dakota started working at Stevinson Hyundai when he was 18 as a lube tech. Over the last two years, he has learned much and has become one of Hyundai's most productive techs.<br /> <br />During the July 4th weekend, through no fault of his own, a careless truck driver struck Dakota while he was on his motorcycle. Fortunately, he was wearing his protective gear and the flight for life was able to get him to the emergency care he needed. Dakota suffered multiple breaks, a torn aorta, and other serious injuries. Dakota Casey Motorcycle Accident

Kyle Spencer was in a snowmobile accident on Friday May 3rd. He was air lifted from his yearly Spring Fling get together over to Loveland. <br /><br />He will be here for a while. He is currently stable, but has a long list of injuries and problems that need to be addressed and fixed through various surgeries and rehab. The main issues are a broken back, a severed liver, 9 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken wrist, and internal bleeding. The emergency teams that have been helping him have been incredible, and Kyle has not forgotten to bring his sense of humor to entertain them all with along the way. <br /><br />Both his liver and  back surgery went well and he now rocks new hardware stabilizing his spine allowing him to be more mobile. He can walk!!! They got him up and moving for the first time and he did great! Neurosurgeon is amazed he didn’t have any spinal damage or further complications considering the internal back injury. Wrist surgery is next on the list  and that will add some more hardware to the collection. His lungs are still very fragile and healing, not to mention all the broken ribs that make every breath and movement even more painful. He’s still in the ICU but making progress. It will be a long road of rehab and he looks forward to visits once he’s beyond surgeries and out of ICU. Still too fragile and drowsy for visitors (sorry guys) but they are sharing all your comments, messages, and texts with him.<br /><br />If you reach out to them and they don't respond right away, please know that they are very appreciative of all the good vibes and support. Faby and his sister Katie are with him 24/7, and are relaying the messages onto him. There is just so much going on and when there isn't they are all trying to rest. <br /><br />They have all the important things taken care of at the moment. Their dog Ellie is staying with a friend, and their house is being checked on weekly. It's going to be a long recovery, but they will get through it.  <br /><br />Thank you for all your love and prayers. Much love.

Kyle Spencer - road to recovery!

Zach was involved in an accident at bandimere speedway 9-17-16. A car flung a spark plug and it hit him in the mouth causing a lot of damage to his teeth, gums, lip, and even broke his jaw. He doesn't currently have health insurance and he's the type of person that would give his last dollar to help someone out. It's time for us to help him!
