I am reaching out for help because I’m currently stuck in a rut and struggling to get back on my feet. My license is suspended due to an unpaid seatbelt ticket, and without reliable transportation, it’s nearly impossible to get to job opportunities or take care of basic needs. I’ve tried to do what’s right and follow my convictions, but the cost of groceries, transportation, and eating out is overwhelming when I don’t have a place to prepare meals. Paying people to drive me is expensive, and my jobs don’t pay enough to cover these extra costs. With your support, I could buy a decent car, get my license back, and finally be able to get to work on my own. Recently, a multi-agency task force led by a natural resource manager and dozens of law enforcement officers descended on the island camp where I was staying along the Chattahoochee River near Valley, Alabama. Without any prior warning, a written notice, or an eviction order, I was abruptly told to leave. Before I could pack up or secure my belongings, officials immediately set fire to my camp, burning everything I owned. My essential survival gear, including my tent, clothing, bedding, and my heater, was completely reduced to ash. I am left with absolutely nothing but the clothes on my back. I am setting up this fund to help me replace these basic, vital necessities so I can rebuild my life and get back on my feet.
