I am a premedical student at Oakland Community College and Wayne State University. Part of my commitment to improving community health, I am leading a research initiative focused on providing safer drinking water for families in Detroit. My goal is dedicated to raising funds to help replace and provide high-quality water filtration systems for homes affected by lead and other harmful contaminants. Over 100,000 homes are affected by this in Detroit. The water infrastructure in Detroit needs drastic improvements and many families continue to suffer relying on aged plumbing systems and face concerns with chemicals that affect their health and well-being.
Access to clean, safe drinking water should be essential for every family. Through this project, I will reduce exposure to harmful substances, improve public health, and educate residents on effective water filtration solutions. Every donation directly supports the purchase and installation of water filters for households that need them most.
Your generosity would make a meaningful difference in the lives of Detroit families by helping provide cleaner, safer water and promoting healthier communities.
This fundraiser is supported by the Oakland Community College Biology Club, and all funds will be tracked and used for project-related testing, filtration, outreach, and direct support for participating households. I will constantly be posting updates so donors can see our progress, community events, and how donations are being used.
I sincerely appreciate your consideration and support of this important effort. A better future starts with us!
Sincerely,
Mishawn Cummings
