<div>A non-profit project to assist Foster Care Youth “aging-out” of foster care.

<div>Foster Care Furniture is a 501-C3 non-profit corporation,  We provide foster care youth aging out of foster care training in woodworking. They help us make furniture for sale.  We sell the furniture and all the proceeds go to help aging-out foster youth survive through their difficult transition into adulthood.

<div>In most cases, foster care for children ends when the child becomes 18 years. However, the National Opinion Research Center reports that the full transition to adulthood does not happen until the age of 26. With no committed adult to assist them to overcome obstacles, it invites many problems. This program is designed to assist with the struggles these youths face in transitioning to adults.

<div>We need a Van to transport building materials and finished products.  Go Fund Me funds, and proceeds from the sale of furniture will be used to buy a Van and get us closer to profitability.  Once Foster Care Furniture gains profitability the program will be able to contribute funds to help foster care youth on a continuous basis.

<div>FOSTER CARE FURNITURE will request guidance from the Department of Health and Welfare, the Idaho Department of Labor, and the U S Department of Labor, and the Department of Health and Welfare to set up assistance to provide foster care young adults with counseling, and career planning.

We raised $2500 thanks to you guys.  </strong><br /><br /><strong>Updates : We are still hoping to raise more funds, so please feel free to support us by donating or volunteering to the project. </strong><br /><br /><br /><br /><strong>Women Empowerment Democratic Republic of Congo ( WEDRC) Hope Project</strong><br /><br /><strong>Location : Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equateur (Mbandaka)</strong><br /><br /><strong>Estimated start date of the project :  September 5th 2020</strong><br /><br /><strong>Estimated budget : $ 3000-$5000</strong><br /><br /><br />About 830 women die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related complications every day — 99% of these deaths occur in developing countries, with more than half of them in sub-Saharan Africa. According to the World Health Organization.<br /><br />Poverty, lack of access to quality health care and education, and distance between health centers all contribute to these statistics [CQ1]. <br /><br />The lack of sex education from parents and schools in the city of Mbandaka is afflicting. In some aspects of Congolese mentality, providing adolescent girls with sex education is considerably a taboo. Many perceive it as a way to grant knowledge and permission to practice sexual activities, instead of viewing it as an opportunity to educate and protect their communities from sexually transmitted disease and teen pregnancy.<br /><br />As a result, many are deprived from understanding the importance of contraceptive methods and safer sex guidelines, leading to high rates of adolescent and unplanned pregnancies, as well as sexually transmitted infections. Essentially, those teens, mostly from low-income communities, do not receive prenatal care due to inadequate health care services and funding, opening doors of continuous health issues for the mother and child.<br /><br />Mission<br /><br />Our mission is to help advocate for women’s health, education and equity, and the approach of maternal and child health in the city of Mbandaka. We strive to promote health by educating and empowering young women from disadvantaged communities, between the ages of 13-20, and serving as a bridge connecting them with the available resources provided by NGOs and governmental services to assist their needs.<br /><br />Goal<br /><br />Our goal is to support a group of young women throughout our program by providing a safe place with educational seminars, which will cover: female reproductive health and rights, safer sex guidelines and sexual transmitted infections, contraceptive methods, gender-based violence with an emphasis on mental health, finding a voice through empowerment, and the idea of learning as a lifestyle. <br /><br />Objective:<br /><br />Over the course of 3 full days,  our guest speakers, healthcare professional volunteers, will present on the subject closest to their field of experience to educate our group of  selected participants, and also organize interactive learning activities to initiate community conversations. ( Seattle- Kinshasa, Kinshasa- Mbandaka, Mbandaka-Kinshasa, Kinshasa- Seattle)<br /><br />$1000  will take care of the expenses for the seminar during 2 days. ( Food, Materials such as;  notebooks, flyers, posters markers, and other materials. The $1000 will also take care of space rental<br /><br />$1700  will pay for the transportation and accommodation for two consultants/speakers. In many rural communities, girls are still exchanged for livestock and married off as children, often becoming widows by their teenage years, left with no education, income, or support.

<div>To break this cycle, WECO is raising $25,000 for two key projects in 2025:

<div>-A Community Farm that will provide nutritious food to the local school and widows’ village—and generate income for families through market sales.A Mentorship Program for junior secondary girls to keep them on the path to academic success through workshops, peer support, and community role models.

<div>-Our volunteer group will be staying in a traditional Maasai camp and working side-by-side with the community—helping prepare land for farming, assisting with school improvements, and contributing labor to move these projects forward.
