<div>My mom is Betty Murphy and I am her daughter, Sherry. I am one of five siblings. Prior to my father's passing, he said to me: "Sher, you have more compassion in your pinky finger than all the rest of 'em put together." He was referring to the other 4 siblings. I will always cherish those words because my dad called out the truth.

<div>My siblings placed our mother in a poorly run nursing home without my knowledge sometime within the last 5 months or so. My brother, SEAN DAVID MURPHY, was not allowing me to talk with her, did not tell me where our mom was and still refuses to allow mom and me to communicate. Mom and I spoke at least twice a month and most every Sunday. (she would 'talk me under the table' at 96/97 yrs young!) He took her out of her apartment where she was doing well and possibly brought her to his house where he was able to gain POA, etc. (That is when she began to have falling issues, broken bones, and a mini-stroke.) She has been hospitalized and transported back to the nursing home where a staff member said she was being given .25 of oxycodone AND hydroxyzine in combination, which could put her into a high fall risk category and, to my knowledge, has had no follow-up care by a doctor.

<div>Mom was placed in a nursing home where she has been languishing and losing the will to live. They took her dog away from her and her phone. My brother was not allowing us to communicate with each other. However, I spoke with my mom on her birthday a few days ago. She is 98 years young and still has quality of life to live. They are trying to make her believe that she has no rights and is completely dependent upon those who may be tired of waiting for life insurance? IDK. If<strong> my mother does not get a good lawyer to represent her and if she continues losing hope, she will wither away and die in this bad place.</strong>

<div>I asked my mom a question that would tell me how sharp her mind really is, and it was like a miracle. I asked: "MOM... What does your great-granddaughter always say?" She sounded a little groggy, exhausted, kind of like she has this give-up sound in her voice, but she began, almost in a timid way: "Never?" I said: "YES MOM! NEVER GIVE UP! THAT IS WHAT YOU KNOW AND REMEMBER!" I told my mom, "STAY STRONG - GOD IS IN CHARGE!"

<div>The first time I spoke to our mother was on August 17 at the nursing home. She knows that my brother and sister are NOT telling me where she is. She said to me with happiness and relief, "SHERRY, HOW DID YOU FIND ME? HOW DID YOU KNOW WHERE I WAS?" She said: "Why am I here? I love you, Sherry. I don't want to be here." I promised my mom that I'd do anything and whatever I can possibly do to get her out of there and home with us where she will feel safe and protected and cared for and loved 24/7 unil God calls her home. No elder should have to live in fear of their environment or who's care they may fall into in a nursing home.
