<p>Let me introduce you to a wonderful husband and a dedicated father. Ryan Gullett was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. It is an aggressive type of cancer. He recently had a craniotomy to remove as much of the tissue as possible, however, parts of the tumor had to be left due to their location. The pieces of tumor left are attached to healthy brain function tissue so they had to stay. 
</p><br />
<p>He will be starting a treatment plan that includes chemotherapy and radiation treatment. He will be out of work for the immediate future. The prognosis is not bright, but we believe in miracles and positive vibes. 
</p><br />
<p>Ryan has been the primary income source for our family. Without him working like he previously was, we are facing a financial hardship with paying the monthly bills and also the medical bills that will be coming due to surgery and cancer treatment. 
</p><br />
<p>That is all the technical stuff, so let me tell you about Ryan and our family. Ryan and I have been together for almost 23 years. We have faced many issues and every time we have found a solution. He is my person. He is the father of our daughter and the stepfather to two sons. Ryan is also a grandpa to two wonderful boys! He has been that quiet stoic person who is constantly there and ready and willing to do whatever is needed for anyone. Ryan is also a veteran of the US navy. 
</p><br />
<p>Ryan is a workaholic, not just because he pays the bills, but because he truly loves his job. I mean he loves his job. He is a supervisor and is the first person to volunteer to go in when there is a shortage of workers or extra jobs to do or even to cover working at a mill in another state. He helps train new employees and will help others with fixing machinery. 
</p><br />
<p>With this diagnosis, it will be difficult for him to work at the level and capacity that he previously was able to accomplish. 
</p><br />
<p>We recently bought our home that we waited 20 years to purchase. We were just starting to see a future that was going to be the life we always were trying to achieve. We were planning on celebrating our 25 years together with a cruise or vacation. Then on July 30th, he had a seizure and it was discovered that he had a brain tumor. Not just a brain tumor, but one that is aggressive enough that his life timeline is being cut short. How short we do not know but I am hopeful that it is many more years. 
</p><br />
<p>Ryan adores animals and is the animal whisperer in our family! He can be around any animal and they instantly love him and roll around in front of him. We established a love of Saint Bernards. We have had the luck to have had 4 in our lives. Our current Saint is Betty. She adores Ryan and attempts to jump on him to hug him every time she sees him. Our other pet is Teddy. He and Ryan are a constant. He sleeps with Ryan, eats with Ryan, watches TV with Ryan and guards Ryan from Betty. 
</p><br />
<p>I never imagined in any version of my life that Ryan got ill or was not able to be my rock. I am his rock now and am pushing him to fight. Fight like literally his life depends on it. I do not want him to have to constantly worry about bills or payments while he is going through this challenge. I am asking for any assistance to help him ease his mind and body so he does not have to spend his last remaining months/ years worrying about us.

<p>I am not sure if I have truly said how much Ryan means to everyone he meets. He truly is a wonderful person. My person who I will do anything for. Please help us with this newest burden we are facing. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.

<div>My name is Naomi. I am writing this on behalf of my Best Friend Aisha Rabanal, and my God daughter Alisi Filikitonga. Aisha is born and raised on the island of Maui, specifically Lahaina. They lost their first home together due to the Lahaina wildfire, after much hard work and effort to get under their own roof. Seven months of pure bliss, and love was spent in their home... we are heartbroken to have this loss. Things can be replaced, and lives cannot so we are blesed to have Aisha and Alisi safe, but I kindly ask that you take the time to hear our story below..

<div>On Tuesday August 8th 2023, the unimaginable happened to the historic town of Lahaina. There was a fire which originated from the mountain brush area, that rapidly burned and tore through an entire town. On a usual basis, these fires are able to be eliminated and controlled in the brush area— but due to unusual wind due to Hurricane Dora which was south of the state caused the fire spread through the town within a few short hours. There were no warnings, no evacuation notice, no cellular service to warn others…. They knew only to leave by natural impulse, and word of mouth that they needed to leave, and leave as fast as possible.

<div>Aisha was only able to leave lahaina and not return to their residence with the clothes she had on, a debit card, and her phone. Thankfully at this time, Alisi was with her dad in Kahului and was safe from the fire… Unfortunately, Alisi’s kitty named Diamond and bunny named funny, passed away in the home as Aisha could not return to rescue them.

<div>Aisha along with other family were evacuating to the area known as ‘front street’, which ended up being traumatizing overall. There were cars everywhere, people running, and overall mass havoc. The skies were dark, and everyone was unable to make clear decisions due to the nature of the event. At this time, they all went into fight or flight mode and had to do what they needed to do to survive. They were able to successfully flee. As a family they were able to detour and find a way out of Lahaina and the burning area within a safe amount of time…. meaning minutes. The flames were large, and bright orange/red… something that will forever be engraved in their minds. The smoke was vast, and thick and dark…. Something once again that’ll be forever engraved in their minds. We pray that this memory is something that can remembered, but not have detramental effects on everyone involved.

<div>I humbly ask on behalf of Aisha and Alisi for your contribution to help them get back on their feet, to allow aisha to be able to purchase a car as her vehicle burned in the fire, to get a roof over their heads, to allow for various essential items in which are needed to comfortably survive. Aisha and Alisi are currently staying with family in a temporary housing situation, but we would like to find her a permanent solution that is safe, and will allow her to continue to thrive as an individual, and most importantly as a mother.

Support for Aisha and Alisi - Lahaina Wildfire

<div>PEPTOC is a project by artists Jessica Martin and Asherah Weiss, and the wonderful students at <a href="https://www.westsideusd.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">West Side Elementary</a> in Healdsburg, California. This project includes a public art poster project as well as a hotline that Martin created, featuring pre-recorded life advice and words of encouragement by the students, aged 5-12. Within days of going live, the hotline went viral, receiving <strong>60,000 calls an hour</strong> from all over the world.

<div>Three years and 18 million calls later, these kids have launched a movement for joy. Young people from all over the globe have participated in the poster project. Their creations are featured in a new book compiled by Asherah and Jessica, called "You Are Amazing Like A Rocket," (a phrase coined by a West Side 5th grader)!

<div>We are absolutely astounded and so very moved by the outpouring of support, and we are so proud that these kids are providing so much joy and light in a very difficult time in the world.

<div>On 9/29/2022, Hurricane Ian struck Central Florida and devastated many places, including their apartment complex, The Place at Alafaya. The water quickly filled the parking lot, submerging Pepper, their car. As the water entered the apartment, they called 911 and were advised to seek higher ground. After gathering a few personal items, dog food, and one crate, they escaped through a window with Winston and Willa to a second-floor balcony to await rescue. While evacuating, Hailey lost her phone in the flood waters.

<div>The water continued to rise quickly. An email was sent to evacuate immediately, so they borrowed a neighbor's surf board, waded through waist-deep, disgusting flood waters and floated the dogs to safety. They then walked 3 miles to their friend's apartment, where they are currently residing.

<div>As you can see by the photos, their home, car, and all personal belongings are submerged. Everything they worked so hard for was destroyed. As a mom, my heart hurts for them. The apartment was deemed uninhabitable, and they have been released from their lease. Renter's Insurance denied their claim. Many of you have asked how you can help, so I created this Go Fund Me. Your donations will help cover the costs of finding a new place to live and replacing personal belongings destroyed in the flood. Hailey and Teagan are both outstanding young people who balance school, work, bills, and 2 dogs. As Cast Members of Walt Disney World, they create magical moments for guests daily. I hope that with your support, we can do something magical for them.
