Hello, my name is Ronnetta, and I am asking for support as my husband fights through one of the most difficult battles of his life. In August 2025, my husband choked on food and was rushed to the ER with his oxygen level dangerously low at 40 percent. From that point on, he was unable to swallow and had to rely on blended foods. For three months, doctors treated him for what they thought was acid reflux. But his condition never improved. We pushed for another scope, and that is when we received the devastating diagnosis: stage 4 esophageal cancer, along with neuropathy and type 2 diabetes. Around this same time, he lost his job after his company lost their contract and chose not to retain his position. He was our sole provider, and losing his income while facing a life‑threatening illness has put us under tremendous financial strain. His treatment began immediately and has been extremely aggressive. Every other Monday, he undergoes a grueling 9‑hour chemotherapy session. He then comes home with a chemo pump and continues treatment for another 48 hours until the pump is removed on Wednesday. The side effects are severe — constant pain, vomiting, exhaustion, and weakness. Because he cannot swallow anything, not even water, he had a J‑tube placed into his small intestine two months ago. This tube is now the only way he can receive nutrition. Anything he attempts to swallow comes right back up. His surgeon is currently unable to remove the tumor because it has spread outside of his stomach and is not centralized. Despite this, we’ve had a small glimmer of hope: after six rounds of chemotherapy, his PET scan showed no new growth and shrinking spots. This means the treatment is at least partially working, and we are praying it continues in the right direction. But financially, we are struggling. The constant doctor visits, copays, medical supplies, and everyday bills have stretched us as far as we can go. With him unable to work, we simply cannot keep up. Anyone who knows my husband knows he has always been a hardworking man. Seeing him in this condition has been heartbreaking, and asking for help is incredibly difficult for us. But right now, we need support to stay afloat while he continues this fight. Any donation — no matter the amount — will help us cover medical expenses, bills, and essential living costs during this long treatment process. Even sharing our story means so much to us. Thank you for reading, for your kindness, and for helping us through this incredibly hard time.
