I'm Rochelle, and I care for a community cat colony and rescue dumped cats at my work, a commercial horse training facility.
Two of the community cats I care for need dentals with extractions. Both have stomatitis, an extremely painful condition in their mouths. I've been having them treated with steroids while I tried to get the funds together but... people keep dumping cats off and I'm not getting far myself.
Tom is a senior cat who's already had most of his teeth removed previously and needs the rest, plus senior blood work. His estimate is up to $1000-$1200 to finish his extractions plus $350ish for bloodwork.
Stella requires a lot more dental work as she has all her teeth so it's going to be more $2000-$2500.
Unfortunately, these conditions are too painful to leave untreated and don't get better on their own. But there's a treatment option for stomatitis after dentals and they can live full, happy lives!
But without treatment, euthanasia is the only humane alternative for this painful condition.
I've made a general estimate of total cost with follow ups and pain management visits prior to dentals.
