Aloha, Mahalo again for all of the support being sent my way. Progress is slow but moving in the right direction! I'm so excited to report that this morning, I put down a deposit on a trailer to build Riptides 2.0 on! This is a huge step putting us in the right direction. The trailer is on order but wont arrive until the end of November. This obstacle is the biggest issue we face by living on the most isolated island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean... things take time to get here! In the meantime, I became a project manager overnight and need to stay organized. Theres lot to do before the trailer arrives! I have piles of paperwork to submit to the Dept of Health to get approval to operate once again! When I purchased Riptides in 2020, it was a turn key business. I didn't have to do any of the things I am currently doing. I am learning alot and have a lot of help when needed. I'll need to order all of my appliances to ensure they get here in a timely fashion. Usually its 6-8 weeks for anything to arrive and hopefully it doesn't come dented which happens quite often from the tumultuous journey at sea. I'm struggling with my creativity on how I want Riptides 2.0 to look. I loved how original Riptides was looking but I want New Rips to look different. I figure that will come to me as we start to build. Thats my update for this week. Remember to be kind to one another and to apply self care! Much Aloha, Mindy :)
Aloha, It's been a few weeks since hurricane Lowell and life is definitely different. Our beautiful island is still in the recovery phase but trying to get back to some sort of normalcy as well. Shops are reopening and struggling to stay afloat as our visitor industry feels nonexistent. We are all doing our best to support local businesses so they can keep their doors open. As for myself, this is quite a journey i'm on! it took me a few weeks, but I'm starting to see the light. I've started the process of making Riptides 2.0 a reality. Riptides was an 8 x 8 colorful little shack built on a trailer that sat oceanfront in Poipu for the last 25 years. I've had so many people approach me and tell me it just doesn't feel right without Riptides there and I couldn't agree more! Although the area where Riptides sits and the resort I am affiliated with have a lot of restoration to do, it is a priority to get Riptides back to her original location ❤️ My goal is to have Riptides 2.0 open her doors by mid December! Hopefully we have a busy holiday season and Riptides can thrive once again! Mahalo from the bottom of my heart for caring enough about myself and Riptides to make a donation. We are so close to obtaining our goal! As we start the build, I will continue to update everyone. Our first and biggest goal is to purchase a trailer so that we can build the structure on. We have raised enough money to do that and for that, I am so so grateful. It all starts there!! Mahalo again for lifting me up, for showing so much kindness, love, and support, and for cheering me on from the sidelines. I am humbled by all of your generosity ! Aloha, Mindy ❤️ ☀️ ️
