<div><strong>My neighbors and longtime JP residents' homes caught fire Wednesday morning, Feb 18, 2026.</strong> Everyone is okay, but 13 people are displaced. The family that owns the house (Caleb and Cheryl) has 2 girls. They managed to grab their coats and winter boots, but they need changes of clothes, backpacks, school supplies, etc. The other two families need essentials as well: socks, underwear, sweaters...

<div>The neighbors next to the house that caught on fire were also displaced because the fire spread to their home as well. 13 people total were displaced.

<div>There is a donation drive collection at Spontaneous Celebrations for winter gear, shoes, sweaters, etc.

<div><strong>A total of 13 people were displaced.</strong> Having assistance in this time when almost everything is lost is crucial. Please help however you can. This is an effort to help everyone that was affected.

<div>All funds raised will be distributed among the families who lost their homes in this fire by household. I (Daniela) am working with the folks impacted to provide them the funds. (13 people/total funds raised x no. Ppl /household) and then distribute that amount to each household. These funds will help them cover their immediate needs (clothes, toiletries, cookware, perhaps security deposits for their next place to live, etc.) Let's come together to help our neighbors!

The Jamaica Plain Music Festival!

<div>As you may have heard, Boston music producer Brian Charles suffered a devastating loss with the massive fire that destroyed Zippah Recording Studios in Brighton today (December 17). He has been working in the same building for the past 33 years, and the studio held a lifetime's worth of memories, art, and equipment.

<div>The unique instruments and all of the recording equipment at Zippah are likely destroyed or damaged beyond repair. Many vintage and one-of-a-kind items resided within the walls of Zippah, a collection that Brian curated over a lifetime of creating beloved recordings.

<div>In addition to being a heartbreaking and crushing event emotionally, this fire has created a massive financial burden for Brian and his family. His primary income came from the studio. It will be very hard to recover from this tragedy, and the road ahead will be difficult. We'd like to help him begin on that journey as quickly as possible. If you can help in any way, we hope you may do so. Thank you for your kindness and consideration.<br /><br />NOTE: Actual damages far exceed the $50,000 goal set in this fundraiser, but we want everyone to know that any amount you could contribute is very much appreciated! <p>Hi friends, Chris’s sister Beth Carey Filloon, has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her prognosis is good but she will require surgery and a period of convalescence. As you may well guess, this presents her young family with a period of financial uncertainty. Support for ONCE Somerville

On February 2nd, our friend Justin McCarthy was running on a treadmill at Planet Fitness. The next thing he knew, he woke up in an ambulance with an EMT telling him "you were dead!". <br /><br />He had a heart attack. Luckily there was a defibrillator on the wall and someone who knew how to use it. He was shocked twice and brought back to life. <br /><br />He was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he underwent a triple bypass a few days later. <br /><br />He is very lucky, he is going to make a full recovery. In the meantime, the recovery process will be long, and he will be out of work for at least 3 months. <br /><br />Unfortunately, 3 months without a paycheck can be devastating. You could lose everything you've worked for your whole life. <br /><br />We all need a little help sometimes. Thankfully we have a wonderful community of friends and neighbors who come together to help each other out. <br /><br />Please donate if you can. Every little bit helps. Please share as well. <br /><br />A little bit about Justin -<br /><br />A 30 year resident of Dorchester's Ashmont Hill, Justin McCarthy is a founding board member of the J P Music Festival, and the creator and designer of the Festival's mascot, the famous albino squirrel. <br /><br />Justin was the proprietor of Velouria Espresso, formerly of Jamaica Plain's Hyde Square. Also, with over 16,000 Boston area trips, perhaps you've had Justin as an Uber driver.

As some of you know, Nicky suffered a severe stroke on the morning of Sunday 12/8. She was unresponsive at home and rushed to the hospital. She was immediately brought into neurosurgery to relieve the pressure on her brain. 

She was then placed into an induced coma so she could heal and the doctors could assess the damage.

Starting this morning 12/11, they started to slowly bring her out of the coma. She started to move both of her arms, which is amazing news.

It’s still much to early to know much, and she has a long road ahead, but we all know what a fighter she is. 

I’m posting this with the permission of her mother. All money raised will go to Nicky’s future bills and expense.

Nicky’s Recovery Fund

A few days ago, our friend and neighbor, Lyndon Fuller, had an accident. He suffered 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung, and several other injuries. He's currently in the ICU at Brigham &amp; Womens. <br /><br />He's expected to make a full recovery, but he has a long road ahead of him. <br /><br />As we all know, bills don't care if you're sick or injured. On top of making sure Lyndon is getting everything he needs, the mortgage and other bills will still be coming in. <br /><br />A donation of any size would be a great help in this stressful time. <br /><br />Sharing this fundraiser will also go a long way.<br /><br />I will post regular updates from Relena here, and will let everyone know when he's able to receive visitors.<br /><br />All money raised will be given directly to Lyndon and Relena.

This page is in honor of our friend and colleague, Frank Galicia. <br /><br />On the night of Aug. 10th Frank was murdered while shopping in Westfield San Francisco Centre, not far from where he worked at Sons &amp; Daughters. Frank was only 28 years old. San Francisco investigators from SFPD are working to catch his killer.<br /><br />This sudden loss has devastated Frank's family, friends, and his team here at Sons &amp; Daughters. We were so lucky to have known and work with Frank. The restaurant industry in SF is tight knit and we collectively feel the loss.<br /><br />"Frank was a free spirit; his persona was very laid back," said his brother, Louis Galicia. "He just went with the flow; he never had any beef or disgruntled situation with anyone." Frank's family, from the Los Angeles area, has temporarily re-located to the Bay Area while the investigation unfolds.<br /><br />We can all help Frank's family by raising much-needed funds to help with the investigation, offer rewards, and cover expenses Frank’s family will incur. In Memory of Frank Galicia

Dear family, friends, loved ones,<br /><br />Following Saturday's tragic accident (<a href="http://patch.com/new-york/carrollgardens/brooklyns-mulvaney-family-suffers-tragic-loss-taconic-parkway" target="_blank">Patch Article</a> ), we are requesting your donations for Devan, Lucy and Don. These donations will go to supporting them at this time and moving forward. The hospital where Don is receiving treatment is over an hour from Devan and Lucy's home. Our hope is to allow them to stay near the hospital for as a long as it takes as well as providing them with monetary assistance for anything else they need (including missed work, car rental, etc.). <br /><br />For those of you who knew Ledell and Kat you know no words can describe the amount of light and love they filled the world with daily. They left us all with the gift of their music. The Mulvaney/Waterman family asks that along with a donation, you gather your loved ones and create music in any way you can (sing loudly along to a song in the car, bang a pot, play your favorite instrument, tap your foot along with a beat where ever you are, express yourself in music). While we can never fill the void that has been left with their passing, we encourage you to fill your hearts with the joy their music will forever provide to all of us. <br /><br />So many of you have asked, "What can we do to help?" Out Of The Blue Gallery is moving and expanding! <br />Our goal is to open an Art Co-Op that gives back to the community &amp; gives a safe productive environment to artists of many mediums. <br />The new space at 541 Mass. Ave in Central Square Cambridge,MA is 6000 sq feet with a public parking lot right behind the building. In this huge space we are planning to make mutiple studio share spaces for artists, a private multi-purpose room that will be able to be used for private shows, dance studio, meetings, workshops, ect., and of course a gallery that will be more than twice the size of OOTB's current home.<br />If you aren't familiar with OOTB gallery &amp; what they have been doing for the art community for the past 17 years, here is a list of some of the ongoing events we will continue to host.<br />Stone Soup Poets, The Story Space, Childrens art shows, The Dire Literary Series, Learn to Paint Creatively, Yoga/Meditation, Soul Sessions, Open Mic's, Music events, Exhibitions at Local Events, An Annual Farr Academy Art Show, and of course art shows for local &amp; touring artists.<br />Many new programs will be added such as workshops for struggling youth from all walks of life, with the aims of helping them discover self-confidence, direction with creative outlets through art, music and theatre.<br />We want to change the art scene in Boston by creating an environment that will build eachother up and make it easier to find a way of self expression for the creative minds in our comunity.
