What they care about

My children, healing, compassion, spiritual growth, and creating a safe, stable home where my family can rebuild and thrive.

Thank you everyone who has helped with this GoFundMe. Just a little bit to go! If you think you may know someone who can help, please share the campaign. I appreciate you all so much. Richard
❤️ A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped. We’ve reached $11,365 of our $12,000 goal, and I am deeply grateful to every person who has donated, shared the campaign, or offered words of encouragement and support. Your kindness has made a real difference during an incredibly challenging time in my life. I cannot fully express how much it means to me and my family to feel this support from our community. We’re so close to reaching our goal. Thank you for standing with us, for your generosity, and for reminding me that compassion and community truly matter. With heartfelt gratitude, thank you all. ❤️
Hello everyone! We're only $900 away from the 12k goal which will help me and my family through this incredibly challenging time. I appreciate all your help in this. I'm incredibly grateful for every donation, kind word, and overall support. This has been the most difficult time in my life. If you feel you can help with an additional donation, I'd appreciate it very much. Every little bit helps immensely. If you can't help with a donation, could you please share the campaign? Thank you again for all your help. You've helped to make this a success. Much love, Richard
A Heartfelt Thank You ❤️ I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to my GoFundMe campaign, shared my story, or reached out with words of kindness and encouragement. When I first began this journey, I never imagined how much generosity and compassion I would experience from so many people. Your support has helped carry me and my family through an incredibly difficult chapter of our lives. After months of serious illness, surgery, pain, financial uncertainty and the challenges of trying to rebuild my health and stability, your kindness has made a very real difference. I am truly grateful to each and every one of you. We have now reached $11,073 of our $12,000 goal! We are so incredibly close, with just $927 remaining to reach our goal. If you have already contributed, please know how much I appreciate your generosity. And if anyone who hasn't yet had the opportunity to contribute feels they are in a position to do so, even a small donation would help us cross that final stretch. Sharing the campaign is also an enormous help and deeply appreciated. Thank you for standing beside us during a time when life has been particularly challenging. Your generosity has reminded me that compassion, kindness and human connection are very much alive in this world. From my heart, thank you. ❤️
Over these past months, I have experienced some of the most intense physical pain, uncertainty, fear, and upheaval of my life. There have been moments when I genuinely did not know how I was going to get through the next hour, let alone the next month. Severe illness. Surgery. An open wound requiring ongoing care. Loss of my ability to work normally. Financial instability. Housing uncertainty. Changes within my family. So many of the structures that once created a sense of predictability have shifted at the same time. And yet, somewhere within all of this, something profound has been happening. My spiritual practice has taught me for many years about witness consciousness. Witness consciousness is not detachment in the sense of becoming cold or indifferent. It does not mean pretending that pain does not hurt or that difficult circumstances do not matter. It means allowing everything to arise within awareness without immediately turning it into an identity. Pain is present. Fear is present. Grief is present. Uncertainty is present. But beneath all of these changing experiences remains the quiet awareness that knows them. In the yogic traditions, we speak about samskaras. Samskaras are the impressions left within the mind through previous experiences, actions, reactions, attachments, fears, and conditioning. They influence how we perceive and respond to what happens around us. When difficult circumstances arise, these deeply rooted patterns can come rushing to the surface. The instinct is often to resist them, grasp at something for security, or construct another identity around what is happening. I have been learning something different. Observe. Allow. Do what needs to be done. Do not cling. Do not make another self out of suffering. There have certainly been moments when I have cried. Moments when I have been frightened. Moments of exhaustion and moments when everything seemed overwhelming. Witness consciousness does not remove our humanity. It allows us to experience our humanity without becoming imprisoned by every passing state. In that sense, this period of my life has become an extraordinary spiritual practice. And there is another realization that has become impossible for me to overlook. I have not travelled through this alone. Every person who donated to this campaign became part of this process. Every person who shared it. Every nurse who cared for my wounds. Every person who sent encouragement. Every person who listened when things became overwhelming. Every person who helped physically, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, or financially. You did more than help me survive a difficult period. You helped create the conditions in which healing could occur. You helped provide enough stability that I could remain present with what was happening rather than being completely consumed by survival. And you have helped my children and me move toward a life that is more grounded, stable, peaceful, and balanced. I cannot adequately express how grateful I am for that. There is something profoundly beautiful in realizing that although our lives appear separate, our actions continually enter one another's lives. Someone gives twenty dollars. Someone shares a link. Someone offers a kind word. Someone shows up when another person is exhausted. And suddenly the trajectory of another human life changes slightly. Those small movements ripple outward into families, communities, and lives we may never even see. This is how compassion becomes something tangible. We are now approaching another important threshold. I still need approximately $3,000 to get myself and my family over this final major hurdle and into greater stability while I continue recovering and navigating the transition ahead. So I am asking once more. If you are able to contribute, even a small amount, it would genuinely help us. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign is also an enormous act of support. It may simply place this story in front of the person who is able to help. And to everyone who has already carried some part of this journey with us, thank you. Deeply. There has been suffering here. But suffering has not been the whole story. There has also been love. There has been generosity. There has been surrender. There has been an extraordinary lesson in allowing life to move through this human form without grasping at every experience and calling it "me." Perhaps this is one of the deepest things suffering can teach us. Everything changes. Everything moves. Everything arises and passes away. Yet something remains quietly present through all of it. And sometimes, when another human being reaches out a hand, we are reminded that we were never moving through any of it alone. Thank you for being some of those hands. ❤️
I want to begin by thanking every one of you who has already contributed to this campaign. Your kindness has helped my children and me through an extraordinarily difficult period of our lives. I don’t take a single donation, message, share, or act of support for granted. You stepped forward when we genuinely needed help, and I am deeply grateful. Before becoming ill, I was working as an Ayurvedic practitioner, teacher, therapist and counsellor, as well as teaching meditation and Traditional Tantra. I also serve as an appointed Bhukti Pradhan, by a group of yogic and traditional tantric monks, which is a community leadership and service role entrusted with helping support the spiritual and practical welfare of the local community. Earlier this year, my health changed dramatically. I became severely ill with what was eventually diagnosed as Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS). For months I lived with extreme pain, significant bleeding, difficulty walking and sitting, and very little sleep. After initially being misdiagnosed, I eventually required surgery and extensive debridement, followed by infection, antibiotics, wound packing and ongoing nursing care. The recovery has been long, and I am still receiving care while dealing with the chronic nature of this disease. I simply became unable to work reliably. That is why I had to turn to Ontario Works. I am now in the process of transitioning to ODSP because my health continues to significantly limit my ability to earn a dependable income. Asking for this kind of assistance ~ and asking publicly for help ~ was never where I imagined I would find myself. But right now, my priority is my children. We are trying to take the next major step: finding a safe, stable, long-term home where we can begin again. I have been actively viewing homes and submitting applications, and the money raised through this campaign is helping make that possible. It provides a bridge for first and last month’s rent, moving expenses, replacing belongings that cannot safely come with us because of the bedbug situation, and keeping our family financially stable while I continue healing and the ODSP process moves forward. This is where I am asking for your help once more...not necessarily financially, but by helping our story reach further. If you would be willing to share this campaign again, please do. Share it with a friend, your community, or anyone you think might understand what our family is trying to get through. Sometimes one share is all it takes for a story to reach the right person. And if you have already donated and genuinely feel drawn to contribute again, even a small amount would be received with tremendous gratitude. But please know there is absolutely no obligation. You have already helped us, and I will never lose sight of that. We have come a long way from those frightening months when I could barely function because of the pain. There is finally some light ahead of us. What I want now is remarkably simple: to get my children into a safe home, continue healing, and begin rebuilding our lives. Thank you for helping us get this far. Thank you for believing our family was worth helping. And if you can, please help carry our story just a little further. With love and deep gratitude, Ram (Richard) ❤️
I want to take a moment to say thank you. Because of the kindness and generosity of so many people, my GoFundMe has reached approximately $9,000 of the $12,000 I need. That is incredible to me. The past several months have been some of the most difficult of my life. Living with immense pain, surgery, being diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, continuing wound care and nurse visits, being unable to work, and now needing to find a new home for myself and my four children has been an enormous amount to carry. But because of you, I am not starting from nothing. You have carried us 75% of the way there. I have approximately $3,000 left to raise. That final amount will help me secure housing, move, replace some essential belongings, and keep my children and me stable while I continue recovering and wait for longer term financial support to begin. If you are able to contribute $10, $20, $50, or whatever is comfortable for you, it genuinely helps. If you have already donated, please consider sharing my campaign with a few people. Sometimes one share reaches exactly the person who is able to help. I am so close. I just need a little more help getting my family across the finish line. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, messaged me, prayed for us, or simply reminded me that we are not walking through this alone. With all my heart, thank you. Richard ❤️
Namaskar Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing amazing. I appreciate everything you've all done; the donations, the conversations, the messages, the phone calls, the support has been incredibly uplifting There's $3000 left to go for the campaign. $3000 means I can move my family, take care of all the necessities required for a family my size (5 of us!) and support us until MY ODSP (Ontario Disability support) comes in around January 2027. If you happen to know anyone who may be able to assist, please share the GoFundMe campaign with them, I would deeply appreciate it ❤️ If you feel drawn to assist with another donation of any amount, that would also assist greatly and my family and I would be in deep gratitude for your generosity. Thank you all for helping make this all possible. It's been a very dark and constricting process and with all of your support, it's been expansive and uplifting. Your generosity and kindness has warmed my heart immensely. Richard
