<div>We are deeply saddened by the passing of James “Jaime” Jimenez, a retired U.S. Forest Service Hotshot, devoted family man, and friend to all who knew him. Jim dedicated 35 years of his life to the Forest Service, with 23 years spent as the Superintendent of the Lassen Interagency Hotshots. However, his impact extended far beyond his firefighting duties. He was a reliable and compassionate person, always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was leading a crew through treacherous terrain or assisting a neighbor in need.

Celebrate Jim Jimenez's Life and Legacy

<div>Roger Conroy is in an urgent need of a medical procedure to help rapidly heal a pressure sore on his butt that he has not been able to heal for over 13 years. Insurance declined the procedure because the plan doesn’t cover care that is “not medically necessary”. After multiple appeals with insurance company and insurance spinning there wheels round and round, insurance has now officially declined the procedure. The skin graft is $40,000 out of pocket. Roger has already had multiple surgeries, and wound vac healing procedures that have not been successful. He has hadtwo bone infections, and a recent reopening surgery due to incorrect healing of the wound. Roger has currently been on bed rest for 17 weeks. The bed sore is not wanting to heal properly and doctors do not have a time frame of when he can be released back to work or to sit in his wheelchair for any extended amount of time. The new procedure that Doctor has suggested could cut the remaining healing time in half and help Roger get back to living his life and back on his feet. Roger has been unable to work since October and struggling with getting unemployment or disability, they have been forced to use their savings to pay for bills. Roger is a hardworking man and does not like a free ride or ask for a handout but I suggested that he do this. This is not easy for Roger. Asking for help has never been Roger’s strong suit but he is in desperate need of support so he can get back to work. <div>The purpose of this fundraiser is to help our friend, John Holovnia, pay for medical expenses while bouncing back from a battle with an infection that went septic.  John spent about a month in the hospital fighting this infection, while undergoing 5 surgeries in his wrists/hands, knees, and ankles.  While John is back in his apartment, the illness has left John with many new obstacles to face.  Making matters worse, John lost his job due to a slowing economy not long after.  He is transitioning into a new career but has had his options limited by his lack of mobility and physical setbacks.  Any aid that John may receive will go towards helping with doctor bills, living costs, transportation to P.T., and medication costs.  John is in a lot of pain and uses a cane to help aid with walking (a far cry from the sub 6 minute miles I remember him running during fire training), but he is ready to start on the long and difficult path to recovery and with your help maybe we can help get him there a little faster. He loved fighting fire, it was his passion and dream. No matter what it came down to, he always had a smile in his face and always had the best attitude. In and out of the fireline Jacob went above and beyond to achieve his goals. A loving son, brother, boyfriend and crew member to the Valyermo Hotshots, you will be missed. Frank has been with the United States Forest Service for over 20 years as a Wildland Firefighter. He has served in several roles over his career but the most notable is teaching those around him and sharing his knowledge. Frank is a friend, colleague, leader, mentor, and brother to many throughout his years as a public servant. Frank was recently en route to a fire assignment when he suffered a stroke while onboard an airplane. He is under medical care at a Dallas, Texas hospital and is scheduled to return via ground transport to Kaiser in Riverside, California when he is stable. <br /><br /><br />To help with the medical expenses of his family, We have created a GoFundMe. Help Frank’s Family with Medical Expenses

On Thursday, September 17, 2020, <strong>Charles Edward Morton</strong>, a Big Bear HotShot and Crew Boss, passed away fighting the El Dorado Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest.  The funds raised will be used to help pay for funeral costs and any other expenses to help support Charlie's family. <br /><br />As we continue to mourn the loss of a fiancé, father figure, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend; we want to honor him by creating a foundation in his memory.  Charlie was a selfless man and he gave so much to his family, friends, and community.  <br /><br />Charlie had big dreams and we would like to continue to fulfill those dreams for him.  I, Monica Tapia, Charlie's fiancé and his brother Allen Morton, will be using a portion of the proceeds to establish a foundation in Charlie's name. In loving memory of Wykin Harris who was a loving, hardworking man who had a 19 year old son, Wykin Jr., a brother Calvin, his mom Sonia and a fiance, Tanisha Moss. Wykin was a firefighter for 20 years. He loved his job and loved helping and saving people. He was tragically hit by a drunk driver on  Saturday,  October 13, 2018, while actually saving someone's life on the 215 freeway in Riverside,  California.  He was the sole supporter of his household and had plans to marry the love of his life next month. They were in the middle of signing a lease to move on Monday,  October 15th, but due to this tragic accident,  his fiance does not have any means to move nor transportation because their vehicle was totalled also.  Tanisha's family is asking for donations to help assist her during this difficult time in her life.  Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

He was a funny, enthusiastic, outgoing and all around an amazing human being. His fellow Arrowhead Interagency Hotshots would say he was a great leader who was an iconic Hotshot and was more than just a friend, he was a brother, mentor, and motivator. Brian tragically passed away in the line of duty on July 29, 2018 while battling the Ferguson Fire in Mariposa County. He is survived by his parents, sister, and fiancé who is 3 months pregnant with their first child, as well as their 2 dogs Zephyr and Taco. He was excited and nervous to be a father and would go around asking the other fathers on the crew for some fatherly advice. He loved Paige and his family very much. Brian is a hero who not only gave his life fighting fires but gave back to our country by saving lives and property countless times through his 15 year career. Brian worked all around the country doing what he loved, Alaska Fire Service, Monterey Hand Crew, Rosevelt Hotshots, Midnight Sons Hotshots, and the Larimer County Yellow Jackets to name a few. The Arrowhead family would now like to ask the community to come together to help support his family. All donations will be given directly to his Fiancé Paige and their unborn child to help with anything they might need in their future.

Brian Hughes

Eric Rice is a career wildland firefighter for the United States Forest Service. Previous to his current position as a Division Chief he spent eighteen years on the line with the Tahoe Hotshots. Unfortunately, Eric is now home indefinitely on sick leave. Years of service fighting fires in the woods exposed him to western black-legged ticks. Eric has been struggling with chronic Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections for the past ten years.<br /><br />Lyme disease is no joke. Symptoms include severe fatigue, brain fog, neurological and arthritic pain, insomnia, and depression. Blood labs and testing regularly fail to reveal the disease; therefore, doctors end up simply treating symptoms. The longer it goes misdiagnosed, the more difficult it becomes to treat.<br /><br />Eric has been able to work through the discomfort of this debilitating disease until recently. If you know him even a little bit, you know how much he likes to work! Treatment for advanced Lyme is quite expensive and the majority is not covered by his health insurance. Sadly, the Office of Workers Compensation Program (OWCP) is a cumbersome, contentious, and unresolving system that leaves many wildland firefighters with overwhelming medical bills to cover.<br /><br />Erics wife Celine has been elected as the sole beneficiary for funds gathered during the campaign. This decision is intended to streamline domestic logistics so Eric can pull back during the days when he suffers the most.<br /><br />Please consider joining us to back our brother and his family.
