Hi, my name is Randy Millis. I’m a journalist, advocate, and longtime Kelowna resident who is facing homelessness while an active BC Supreme Court judicial review remains unresolved.
On Friday, the court refused to cancel my temporary stay, but also refused to extend it further. My judicial review is still active, but my current legal protection expires Monday at 1 PM, after which an eviction order may become enforceable again. I do not know whether enforcement happens immediately or later.
Over the past several months, I’ve exhausted every available option through the Residential Tenancy Branch process and am now pursuing judicial review in BC Supreme Court.
The problem is that I’ve spent weeks trapped in emergency legal triage — urgent filings, short-notice hearings, court deadlines, service issues, and trying to preserve the status quo long enough to keep housing while the larger legal process continues.
Since January 6, I’ve documented roughly 374 hours dealing with legal preparation, evidence organization, transportation, housing searches, and survival logistics while self-represented.
I’m also dealing with mobility limitations and significant health impacts from stress, including severe migraines, exhaustion, and repeated illness.
Today I’m moving my belongings into storage because waiting until the last minute would be irresponsible. My belongings may be safe — but I currently do not know where I’ll be sleeping.
I do not have stable housing lined up. I do not have a credit card for hotels. I’ve been actively searching for housing and temporary accommodations and have come up empty so far.
Funds raised will help cover:
* temporary housing / motel costs
* storage costs
* transportation
* food/basic necessities
* keeping my devices operational so I can continue legal work and employment efforts
* emergency stability while I continue trying to resolve this situation
I’m incredibly grateful to the friends helping me move today and to anyone who shares this.

Thank you.
