Faisal, my brother, has been battling Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) since late 2023. NHL is a group of blood cancers that originate in the lymphatic system, affecting lymphocytes (white blood cells), which are essential to the body’s immune defense. The disease causes abnormal cells to multiply uncontrollably, often forming tumors in lymph nodes and other parts of the body. Faisal is currently undergoing treatment in India at Tata Medical Center, one of the world’s leading institutions for cancer care. His treatment involves multiple cycles of chemotherapy along with continuous monitoring through advanced and costly diagnostic procedures such as MRI scans, PET-CT scans, and various pathological tests. He remains under followup to his doctors every three months. For nearly two years, Faisal has been courageously fighting this disease. During this period, he has experienced several complications affecting other parts of his body, making the treatment more complex and long-term. The overall medical process is both physically and emotionally demanding, as well as financially challenging due to the high cost of ongoing treatment and investigations.
