<div>Recentemente a minha vida mudou de forma inesperada: fui diagnosticado com a Síndrome de Brugada, uma doença rara que afeta a parte elétrica do coração e pode causar arritmias fatais em pessoas jovens e aparentemente saudáveis.

<div>Este diagnóstico foi confirmado em hospital, após exames que mostraram o padrão típico da doença no meu coração. Desde então vivo sob vigilância apertada, com um aparelho de monitorização cardíaca instalado em casa (da Medtronic), que transmite diariamente os meus batimentos ao hospital para garantir a minha segurança.

<div>Apesar de todo o cuidado em Portugal, existe um centro de referência mundial em Milão (Itália), liderado pelo Prof. Carlo Pappone, que é pioneiro em tratamentos avançados para a Síndrome de Brugada. Lá realizam técnicas de ablação do substrato arrítmico, capazes de reduzir drasticamente o risco de arritmias fatais e melhorar muito a qualidade de vida dos doentes.

<div>O meu objetivo é ir até Milão para obter uma segunda opinião especializada e, se necessário, realizar este tratamento que pode salvar a minha vida.

<div>Hello, my name is Tiago Portela and I am 29 years old.
</div>
<div>Recently, my life changed in an unexpected way: I was diagnosed with Brugada Syndrome, a rare heart condition that affects the electrical system of the heart and can cause fatal arrhythmias in young and otherwise healthy people.

<div>This diagnosis was confirmed in hospital after tests showed the typical pattern of the disease in my heart. Since then, I have been living under close surveillance, with a cardiac monitoring device (from Medtronic) installed at home, which transmits my heartbeats daily to the hospital to ensure my safety.

<div>Despite all the care I receive in Portugal, there is a world-renowned reference center in Milan, Italy, led by Prof. Carlo Pappone, who is a pioneer in advanced treatments for Brugada Syndrome. There, they perform ablation techniques of the arrhythmic substrate, which can drastically reduce the risk of fatal arrhythmias and greatly improve patients’ quality of life.
