Help Bring Better Coaching Tools to Youth and Community Sports Every young athlete deserves the opportunity to learn, improve, and feel like an important part of their team. Every coach deserves tools that make teaching and organizing easier—regardless of the sport, the size of the program, or the funding available. Playbook by AYCD is being created to help youth sports, middle- and high-school teams, recreational leagues, nonprofit programs, and community athletic organizations bring their coaching, planning, and team development together in one organized platform. Community sports are often powered by dedicated coaches, educators, volunteers, parents, and local leaders. These are people who give their time because they believe sports can make a positive difference in the lives of young athletes. But many of them are asked to do more with fewer resources. Coaches frequently manage their seasons using paper diagrams, spreadsheets, group messages, video clips, and multiple disconnected applications. Valuable time that could be spent teaching athletes, preparing practices, or building team relationships is instead spent searching for information and moving it between different tools. We believe useful coaching technology should not be reserved for organizations with the largest budgets. Playbook by AYCD is being designed as a practical home for the coaching process. Our vision is to help coaches organize their teams, communicate responsibilities, plan practices, build and present strategies, manage personnel information, review performance, and turn observations into clear teaching moments. Different sports have different rules and strategies, but coaches share many of the same needs. They need to prepare efficiently, explain ideas clearly, keep information organized, adapt to their athletes, and help every player understand how their role contributes to the team. Our goal is to create technology that is powerful enough to support experienced coaches but approachable enough for volunteers and first-time users. A community coach should not need a large staff or technical background to provide athletes with an organized, professional learning experience. This fundraiser will help us continue developing, testing, and responsibly releasing Playbook by AYCD. Contributions may support secure infrastructure, accessibility, mobile and tablet improvements, educational tutorials, sample materials, cross-sport development, device testing, and the work required to make the platform dependable for real teams and communities. This effort is about more than building an application. It is about giving coaches more time to coach. It is about helping young athletes understand what they are being taught. It is about supporting the families, schools, volunteers, and community organizations that make youth sports possible. Sports can teach preparation, accountability, resilience, communication, leadership, and teamwork. When coaches have better tools, they can create better learning environments—and those environments can have a lasting impact on young people.
