 On October 11th, I got into an accident while out with my daughter and ended up breaking my humorous bone closer to the elbow side. Not to give too many details, but the bone was close to popping out of my skin. The doctor said I’m going to need an operation to reassemble it and keep it together with screws and sheets. From the looks of it, I’m going to be out of work for a few months to recover. Luckily I didn’t have any shows or tours planned this winter, but I’m trying to get back in shape as soon as possible. I happen to be the main provider in my household, covering the rent and bills ,so being unable to work will cause financial strain at home.
</div>
<div>
 This gofundme is to help cover our living expenses while I recover. The money from this will go towards my monthly expenses, lost wages, paying any leftover amount from this hospital visit, and possibly paying for physical therapy. I do have medical insurance , but I’m not entirely sure how much they can cover, and I am worried that being unable to work, this will sink me under.
</div>

Support My Recovery After Serious Arm Injury

<div>
 I was recently selected to travel to North Carolina for a writing workshop with one of my favorite writers and thinkers, Alexis Pauline Gumbs. I applied as an absolute moonshot, and I'm in disbelief about this opportunity to work on my ancestor writing project in a sacred container. I leave in just two weeks and am seeking some help to cover the $2500 tuition and travel expenses.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 For the past few months, I've been digging through the archives to find and map the path my ancestor Dempsey Spencer took on the Underground Railroad. Working on this project and writing about it on my <a href="https://lazarusletcher.substack.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Substack</a> has absolutely fed my soul. Interrogating my ancestors' survival and brave flight for freedom feeds my soul as a Black trans person navigating the ripple effect of surviving a lynching. I can't wait to learn and grow in this community and to deepen this project.

Support My Journey to a Sacred Writing Workshop

<div>My name is Alex &amp; I’m fundraising for a car. In 2024 I was in a car accident which totaled my car &amp; the person responsible had no insurance. Even though the court granted me restitution I haven’t received any money from him so I haven’t been able to get a replacement vehicle and have been struggling ever since to get back on my feet.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I started this gofundme specifically because I’ve recently developed very severe allergies that prevent me from working consistently &amp; I need a mode of transportation to get me to my doctors appointments for the treatments that will be 2-3 times a week every week for the next 2 years.

</div>

Alex Needs a Car for Vital Allergy Treatments

<div>Jorge Sierra and David Barfield are raising funds to support one of our own—an engineer, colleague, and friend—who recently suffered a serious injury after a fall while leaving a bar.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What initially appeared to be a different situation has since been clarified, but the outcome remains the same: he is now facing a difficult road to recovery. This includes significant medical expenses, ongoing care, and time away from work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As members of the same team, we’ve seen firsthand the dedication, character, and work ethic he brings every day—and now he needs our support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are coming together to help ease the financial burden on him and his family during this challenging time. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward medical bills and recovery-related expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping him and his family in your thoughts is deeply appreciated.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your support, compassion, and for standing with one of our own when it matters most
</div>

Easing the Burden for Our Injured Engineer

<div>Shearing season is here and lasts all through April and May. This is also a time of planting, wool washing and processing, repair and many other ongoing tasks such as sheep herding. Resisting families will gather with locals and pods of supporters to work on these things in the busy buzz of spring.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Where does the money go?</strong>
</div>
<div>The majority of funds raised will go directly to families who are resisting relocation. The funds will be distributed in the form of cash and necessary seasonal supplies. We also use these funds to buy raw wool from our hosts. We then resell this wool (mostly raw), which allows us to generate more funds to recirculate back into the community through our ongoing mutual aid fund that supports resisters year round. Any funds not used during this camp will also move to our mutual aid fund for Black Mesa resisters.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A small portion of funds raised will go toward camp expenses, primarily shears and shearing related supplies. Nearly all of these supplies are gifted to resisting families after shearing is complete.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Who are we and what do we do?</strong>
</div>
<div>Black Mesa Solidarity Network (BMSN) is a decentralized all-volunteer network from across Turtle Island that works year-round to respond to Diné families resisting relocation laws. Each year, BMSN organizes a Spring Shearing Camp with Diné families resisting relocation pressures throughout Big Mountain / Black Mesa and surrounding communities. BMSN supporters are hosted by Diné families, strengthening relationships with resistance through mutual aid.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why does this matter?</strong>
</div>
<div>Elders and families of Big Mountain / Black Mesa continue to sustain their traditional Diné lifeways in the face of the devastating effects of colonial land theft and coal mining. The 1974 Navajo-Hopi Land Settlement Act redrew the boundaries of the Hopi and Navajo Reservations, which displaced hundreds of Hopi and 10,000 - 15,000 Diné. These borders reflected the colonial government's collusion with massive resource extraction.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, hundreds of families refuse to leave their ancestral homelands, which span 900,000 acres across 20 Diné communities. More than 50 years later, the coal mines are defunct, but the pressure to relocate remains. These pressures include: livestock restrictions, threats and intimidation from law enforcement and government agencies, lack of running water and electricity as well as the impacts of climate change.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

<div>Kristin is a beautiful person. A beautiful soul. She would do anything for anyone and never ask for anything in return. Always smiling, loves to dance, to have fun. The life of the party. One of the best people I know. The best daughter, sister, auntie, fiancé, friend. Our hearts are beyond broken
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She passed away while on vacation in Mexico with the love of her life/her fiancé, Justin, who she was so happy and excited to be marrying this April.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her passing is sudden, unexpected and unfair. We are still waiting to see what exactly happened. This has been a nightmare.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All donations will be used to help bring her remains back home to New Mexico and help give her the celebration of life she deserves.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Trying to navigate and figure out all of this is insane and overwhelming.
</div>

Help Bring Kristin Home for a Final Goodbye

<div>My daughter, Sunshine Jewel Snider, was a bright light in our lives and in the lives of everyone she met. She had a deep love and passion for helping and saving animals, and her laughter and smile were truly contagious. Sunshine was incredibly talented in her art, and she loved performing and putting on shows for her community. She always encouraged her friends to love who they were and never judged anyone, always wanting to see both people and animals cared for and loved.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sunshine’s passing was sudden and heartbreaking. She took her own life at her favorite hiking place in the mountains, a spot that brought her peace and comfort. The loss has left our family and her friends devastated, and we are struggling to come to terms with her absence. We want to honor her memory and the kindness she showed to everyone around her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are raising funds to help cover the immediate costs of Sunshine’s funeral and memorial services, as well as other related expenses. Any support will help us give her the loving farewell she deserves and ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for helping us remember and celebrate Sunshine’s beautiful spirit.

<div>Ya'at'eeh/Hello, My name is Siihasin
</div>
<div>I created this GofundMe to support my little sister Keana who is an unsheltered Dine' (Navajo) <strong>Trans woman facing homelessness</strong>. She has spent this year working two jobs while living out of her car due to housing insecurity. She has not been able to secure housing due to experiences of gender discrimination (transphobia) and financial strain. Unfortunately, she had to quit both her jobs after a horrendous car accident left her without a safe place to sleep. Her vehicle is an extension of home and she needs support covering vehicle repairs and housing expenses. Her insurance has refused to cover any of the damages
</div>
<div>She has <strong>NO</strong> relief options in the immediate area and her closest friends reside over two hours away, which forces her to endure this alone.
</div>
<div><strong>These funds will be utilized to cover vehicle repairs, storage costs, transitional housing, and living expenses. </strong>Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for more information directly. We can provide documentation for transparency purposes upon request as we move forward. We will share updates on the gofundme.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is incredibly difficult to ask for support when struggling to juggle multiple hardships. Keana and I are very grateful for any and all mutual aid/support and solidarity. Ahe'hee (Thank you)

<div>Catalina “Xóchitl” Santiago, a beloved community member, DACA recipient and long-time community organizer, was detained by Border Patrol on Sunday August 3, 2025 at an airport in El Paso, TX.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Xóchitl was accosted by two Border Patrol agents around 4:00 AM MST as she was about to board a domestic flight for work. Despite presenting a valid DACA work authorization card offering proof of her protection from deportation in the U.S., Border Patrol abducted and detained her without warrant or cause.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She has been transferred to a processing facility in El Paso, and these funds will help to support her as we coordinate with her legal representation. We will share more updates soon on how to show your support and demand her immediate release.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know that Xóchitl has made such a profound and powerful impact on so many loved friends and community members from Florida to Texas and beyond. Xotchitl has been working for over a decade for the dignity and respect of the immigrant community. She was a long-time volunteer organizer with Movimiento Cosecha and currently works supporting families in El Paso.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we need to show up for her. Immigrant communities have been targeted for decades, and the Trump Administration is taking these fascist tactics to unprecedented levels.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This unexpected and cruel detainment will likely result in high legal fees alongside immeasurable emotional impact on her, her partner, and her family. <strong>We are asking for support for her legal funds and post-release care and healing. </strong>Please give what you can to ensure that Xotchil has the resources needed to fight for her case, her ability to stay in the US with her family and community, and can take the time needed to recover from this traumatic experience after she is released. Thank you for your support!

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Xóchitl ha sido trasladada a un centro de procesamiento en El Paso, y estos fondos ayudarán con su representación legal y otras necesidades. Muy pronto daremos más información de cómo puedes apoyar y exigir su liberación inmediata.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ahora, tenemos que apoyarla. Las comunidades de inmigrantes han sido blanco de ataques durante décadas, y la administración Trump está llevando estas tácticas fascistas a niveles sin precedentes.
</div>

Free Xóchitl: Support DACA recipient detained by ICE

<div><strong>Help Timmi cover their grad schools fees!</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Discrimination at NMHU School of Social Work has snowballed, and the School is withholding $3000 in state funding that Timmi needs to pay for their summer coursework and continue in the program.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Timmi is a queer, non-binary community-builder of color. They are getting a social work degree to serve non-traditional folks and families. They also have a vision of helping to build a robust, diverse network of care beyond heteronormative family systems and commodified models of healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite navigating neurodivergence in tough institutional setting, Timmi has a 3.1 GPA. Without the funds to pay for summer session, the School will soon unenroll Timmi from their fall courses, jeopardizing their ability to complete the program.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ironically, the School of Social Work -- which should support healthy relating -- has ignored Timmi's attempts to repair relationships and address harm in non-punitive ways. This has pushed Timmi into emotionally-draining and time-consuming legal processes to address the discriminatory actions by one instructor (and the complicity of an institutional framework which enables harm and discrimination).
</div>

Help Timmi Fight Discrimination and Cover School Fees

<div>Hanna Colm (they/them), who is an avid reader, loving dog parent, talented photographer and hiker, needs community support to receive urgently needed gender affirming care: top surgery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hanna has been waiting for years to get this care. This procedure will have a huge positive impact on Hanna's day-to-day life by relieving the constant anguish of dysphoria. The need is extremely urgent for their mental health, especially now with the impending transphobic MAGA government taking power next year. And they finally had a consultation and have a surgery date scheduled for August 2025!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But, while this news of a possible surgery, after waiting so long, is ecstatic, we still face financial barriers to accessing this care. Out of pocket costs for the surgery and recovery will be significant and we don't have a lot of time to save for them. So we are asking for help raising $3,000 that, when combined with personal savings and insurance, will help cover the cost of their surgery and recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any support means the world to us; sharing included. There is no amount too small to make a difference, and every share supports Hanna in getting closer to getting their surgery.
</div>

<div>Since the pandemic, we've been struggling to get back on our feet. We haven't been able to make up our losses from having to close indoor dining for over a year. Our rent continues to increase while foot traffic has slowed down tremendously. After an issue with the gas pipe in our building that the landlord chose not to fix, we were forced to overhaul our entire kitchen for more than $40,000. Your generous donations would help in paying the rent that we owe, past due ConEdison bills, commercial liability insurance, payroll taxes, and escalating food costs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We've watched many great friends and colleagues in our neighborhood fall to the pressure of rising rents, residual Covid stress, and big corporations popping up to oversaturate the market. It is very tough right now for small businesses, especially those that are minority owned, women owned, and queer owned like ourselves. We would benefit greatly from <em>any</em> help that you can provide so that we do not become one of the fallen small businesses.
</div>
<div><br />

<div>With your help, we hope we can continue to serve the vegan community.

<div>My mother Louise got diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer and stage 4 non-alcoholic cirrhosis in December of 2024. She has been living with my family and I since June 2024. We noticed a decline in her health in September and urged her to go get seen my her primary. They sent her for test after test. They finally sent her to a liver specialist because of a low white blood cell count. They did an MRI of her abdomen and weeks later informed us that she had cirrhosis. This was a shock to see that it was already at Stage 4. They continued to run other tests and imaging to make sure there wasn't anything else. In November they found a mass on her pancreas. We went to UNMH and they did a biopsy on the mass. Shortly after the appointment we got a call from a cancer specialist and they told us that she had Pancreatic cancer. It was a waiting game for almost a month to be seen by an actual cancer specialist. When we finally were seen on December 17th, the doctor told us that she was at Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Unfortunately for my mother, there is no cure for her cancer. The Doctor suggested Chemotherapy to try to lengthen her life by as much as possible. She is 2 treatments in to Chemo. The first round caused her to lose 6 pounds in just 2 weeks. We had to take a break in between treatments to give her time to gain her strength back. Due to her cirrhosis and her cancer, her diet is very strict so she's not really able to eat many things. This makes it extremely hard for her to keep the strength she needs and to put any weight back on. Before she was diagnosed she weighed 180 pounds, now she is 142. She's lost over 40 pounds in just a few months.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I hate to have to think about this but I know her time is very limited. I wanted to start pre-planning her funeral arrangements ahead of time so hopefully I can have them paid off and taken care of before her time actually comes. My dad passed away in 2022 and that came as a surprise, the cost to give him his funeral was ridiculous and left a financial burden on us. I don't want that to be the case this time around. That's why I'm asking for any help that we can get during this hard time.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>This would also help cover other expenses for things that she currently needs that her insurance doesn't cover. Things such as adult diapers, Ensure drinks (These are one of the few things she's able to consume), things to help her get around our house/bathroom more easily. Our house isn't Handicap accessible so we have to find other ways to help her with getting in and out of our shower/tub. Also co-payments for her Chemotherapy and other doctors appointments.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>My family loves my mom endlessly, we will always do everything in our power for her. Sometimes everyone needs a little bit of help so that's why I'm making this gofundme. We appreciate anything and everything that we can get, even if it's just a share. Anything helps!

<div>Hello, my name is June, and I am trying to raise money to pay a retainer for an attorney to get my son back. I lost my son on a default judgment back in May of this year. I froze out of fear, and hoped his father would change his mind and it would all go away. It didn’t. I ended up losing my son to a father who hadn’t so much as text to check on his child in an entire year. To add to this, my son is trans and his father doesn’t approve; which is part of what started him taking me to court to begin with. In May of last year (2023) I got my son back from his father with a head full of lice. Upon telling his father that I was going to cut my sons very thick hair to make it easier to get the lice out, he proceeded to threaten me and tell me if I cut my sons hair he was going to take me to court for full custody. I cut his hair. My son reached out to me on social media after being taken away, and got in trouble for talking to me and I haven’t heard from him since. My son wants to be with his mama. He needs his mama, and I need my son. Please help me. I need an attorney and I can’t afford it. My son wants to talk to a judge. Please help me. Thank you for ANY donation you can help me and my family with. His brother and sisters miss him and I am falling apart. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Please help me get my son back.

Help Garcia Family After Tragic Loss. Past Due Bills

<div>Ian Taylor is a farmer at Chispas and a terrific part of our community of herbalists, healers, and change-makers. They're due to have a complex and invasive surgery on Dec. 16th, addressing an ankle joint which has been plagued by a tumor attacking the tendon sheath and eroding bone. Yikes!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The surgery will correct this reoccurring problem, but it will have a lengthy recovery time. Ian will be out of commission and unable to work for 8-10 weeks, and will need to wear a walking boot for up to 3 months. They are looking forward to rejoining the crew at Chispas Farm as soon as they can, and as for us crew members, we want Ian back asap! (They're one of the best wranglers of Sokka, one of our most rascally goats!)

<div>Last night, the beloved community art spaces at the 1400 block of 4th street SW—fourteenfifteen gallery, Alpaca, and the Minnow—were impacted by a fire. While most of the structures are intact and homewise is covering structural repairs, many important tools, items and artifacts were damaged.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>These spaces are part of the rich fabric and history of DIY art and music in Albuquerque. Volunteer and collectively run, the 1400 block on 4th street is an essential part of freedom of expression and creative flourishing in our city. Our community is our backbone!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While we don’t know the full extent of the damage, we estimate that we will have to replace a fair amount of equipment, including cultural mainstay Basement Films equipment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please consider helping us return to cultivating forward thinking, challenging conceptual art that is openly accessible!

<div>Hi my name is Siobhaen and I’m one of the owners of Peachy Keen Salon located in Albuquerque, NM.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My salon caught fire and flooded on Saturday Oct 12. Nobody was hurt which I am grateful for but I am devastated. This has been my first business and I put everything into it. As of right now it is inoperable and I’m not sure when we will be up and running.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am lucky that multiple people reached out to help and even offer a chair for me to temporarily work at. My tools seem to be ok but my product can’t be touched until after insurance figures it out.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I won’t know more about what’s going on with my salon and not sure how long it will take to get back to business and I appreciate everyone that has reached out.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So, what I do need help with is buying a new blow dryer because that is now unusable due to smoke damage, and some product to continue working and loss of wages to help with bills. If you are able to donate to my cause.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you

<div>Hello everyone, I am Marwan, Judy's uncle. I am studying veterinary medicine in Egypt, specifically at Zagazig University. Before the war, I had a simple dream: to graduate, work, and support my family. But after October 7, everything changed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My story begins with my family in Gaza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We lived a modest life, but one filled with hope.
</div>
<div>My brother Ahmed holds a master's degree in communications engineering, and my brother Louay holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Despite their hard work, they were unable to find work.
</div>
<div>My brother Nour did not complete high school after his school was destroyed.
</div>
<div>My sister Lana lived peacefully with her husband and their young daughter, Judy.
</div>
<div>I was pursuing my university studies, hoping to return to my family as a veterinarian.
</div>
<div>But the war tore everything apart.
</div>
<div><br />

<div><br />
</div>
<div>My sister's husband was martyred before her eyes.
</div>
<div>Little Judy became an orphan, unable to understand anything except that she had lost her father's embrace forever. As if that weren't enough, she was injured again in the bombing and continues to suffer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our house was destroyed, and we lost everything.
</div>
<div>My family fled east of Khan Younis to Rafah, then returned to the destroyed house because there was no other place.
</div>
<div>Today, they live in tents without electricity, water, or food.
</div>
<div>They told me today in a short call:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>&gt; "Death is all around us... We don't know if we'll live until tomorrow."
</div>
<div><br />

<div>We stand in line for hours for water. Food is a luxury, medicine is unavailable. Clothes? We barely get by on used ones.
</div>
<div>Even leaving Gaza is very expensive. Thousands of dollars, and we can't even afford bread.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I appeal to you from my heart: Help me.
</div>
<div>I'm not asking for charity. I'm asking for a chance for my family to live in dignity.
</div>

<div>The future has become uncertain for my family and siblings. The war has plunged them into an unimaginable crisis. In an instant, we lost our family, friends, homes, possessions, and livelihoods, and their lives have become a living nightmare. Words cannot express the depth of our despair. They lack basic necessities—food, medicine, and clothing. Children have had their innocence taken away from them, and they are surrounded by pain and death. Escaping Gaza is their only hope, but they cannot do it alone. They urgently ask for your help. Your donation, whatever the amount, will be a lifeline, helping them escape this horrific situation. Your support is not just financial; it is a beacon of hope in their darkest hours as they look to rebuild and start their lives. This war and previous attacks have deprived him and his family of everything. You have all given me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I want him to do his best to build a life that will make him as proud of himself as anyone else. These funds will cover transportation costs through the Rafah crossing only if it is open, assuming this is possible given changing prices and increased demand. Furthermore, the total cost of travel includes airfare and basic living expenses such as housing, food, and clothing. Please help.

Help Baby Judy And Her Family Survive in Gaza

<div>Hi All,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This campaign is a lifeline for Ahmed, 24, and his family, that includes his parents (Dad, 58, and Mom, 50), his grandfather (85), and his siblings Mohammed (32) and his wife Haya (27) with their daughter Mila (2), Tarek (30) and his wife Fatime (23) with their son Zeiad (2), Abd Alwahab (22), Shady (20) and Omar (15), the youngest of the family. For the past eight months, thanks to your help, the funds have been used to rent a small house and purchase essential supplies each month, helping the entire family survive through these difficult circumstances. Additionally, the support is crucial for possible evacuation ensuring the family’s safety in case of an emergency.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Aileen Hiralal and I'm a Dutch citizen living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. My friend from Gaza is trying to raise funds for him and his family. The donation money will be used for basic necessities and living expenses such as food, water, medicine and the high rent of the small house. In addition, if it is possible and when the borders open again, the donation money will be used to help evacuate his family from Gaza. Due to his geographical location and restrictions from GoFundMe I am stepping in to help launch this campaign. All donations will go directly to Ahmed. Please support if you can, any amount, however small can bring him and his family to safety.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Below the story of Ahmed Massoud:</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello world!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is Ahmed speaking in front of your courteous presence, and this is a Gazan “me” as an epic story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Once upon an October, a time when once turned to be forever, there was a very particular moment when I believed my life, our lives, would never be the same again. Little did I know that every single coming second would bear anything but joy and peace.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Here, in Rafah, from our fifth displacement, we barely have the luxury to choose which of those five displacements was less cruel, nor could we dare to whisper this word : home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Five months ago, the narrative could have been so different. This graduation photograph below must tell a lot about that. The best about it is that it truly defines me in just three words: cheerful, ambitious, and a dreamer. Yet, war always has its way of stealing your light with a trice.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/78288195_1707950058462442_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Luckily, I still remember my name: Ahmed Masoud (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/ahmad_masoud__/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Instagram</a> ) and 23 years of being a Gazan. A term which used to be a perfect synonym for siege, aggression, war, massacre, loss, pain, agony as well as death. The "death" that life here forces you look to in the eye.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I can also recall my profession, a law graduate and a dedicated human rights activist who is fed up with all these ridiculous lectures about humanity and has a million terrifying thoughts spinning in his mind.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As October approached, the catastrophic chapters of this story dramatically unfolded. It fills my heart with darkness every moment I open my phone gallery scrolling up to that promising life where I no longer belong. I used to work at Oxford, one of the leading English and training centers in Gaza, mixing commitment with pleasure to dream of a better future. Pursuing my education through a decent scholarship was always the ultimate goal I believed Oxford would secure. I started my "IELTS" preparation when the war knocked on my door with a massive "Hello"! Once Oxford was a target, my work as well as my dreams were shattered, leaving me without a heart and soul.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/78288195_1707950195440715_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Yet, I can’t deny that I still consider myself lucky when I bear in mind my older brother's tragic loss. From the very beginning of the war, particularly on October 8th at 1:00 am, we were forced to leave, with empty hearts, our first displacement as Tarek's apartment was harshly annihilated. I can never forget his tears of bitter and deep grief especially when I lately figured out how much it meant to him. He told me that, regardless of his household goods, there was a special room left as a warehouse where he practically had lost his all investment as a newly respected merchant.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/78288195_1707951522519689_r.jpeg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This war didn't forget to show her ugly face to the rest of my family as the latest horrible news and photos arrived. After its military operation in Al-Remal, Israel has completely burned out two apartments: one is the family home, while the second belongs to another brother, Mohammed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The war has stolen much more than walls and doors, it has also deprived us of that sacred sense of being safe and peaceful. It left us with a pathetic feeling of loss and despair. During our exhaustive journeys between places that look like anything but home, we ended up with a poor tent where experiencing any simple daily life routine is a challenge. It takes hours to make bread and dozens of kilometers to find drinkable water. In simple words, life here is unbearable hell.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why I'm fundraising?</strong>
</div>
<div>This campaign is only meant to secure a temporary departure to Egypt to seek safety that since October the 7th and under all these relentless bombings, turned out to be a myth in Gaza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Expenses cutdown:</strong>
</div>
<div>Egypt fees: $60000: Travel cost for each one of my 12 family members (as $5000 for 1 person) to pay to the proper legal Egyptian authorities

Help Ahmed Masoud's Family in Gaza!

<div>Hi you all, this is Sarah, Nate's partner. On Wednesday, August 28th around 7:30pm, Nate was in a car accident on his way home from work. Some high schoolers were not paying attention and hit the back right side of his car, pushing him into the concrete median. Nate was not seriously hurt, but he did suffer some whiplash and minor injuries. His car is also totaled.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, Nate had only bought this car about 2 months ago, and it was already old with a significant amount of wear and tear and structural damage. He will not receive much money from the insurance company due to its pre-accident condition, so I am humbly launching this GoFundMe to ask our community to support him with funds to purchase another car that is reliable and safer to drive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you know Nate, you know that he is an exceptionally talented and driven individual who generously gives to his community and rarely asks for anything in return. Now is our time to support him and show him that his community has his back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I know it's hard out here for all of us, so any amount helps! And of course, no donation is too big ;)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you from the fullness of our hearts for your care, love &amp; support!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Much love,
</div>

<div>Hello community!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are here to ask for help in supporting our friend Rin’s top surgery fund, so that they can access quality, gender-affirming care at the Gender Confirmation Center in the Bay Area this coming August. That’s only two months away!
</div>
<div><br />

<div>Top surgery is super exciting, and also expensive! Even with health insurance, Rin has already received a $3,000 medical bill due in early July. We are raising funds to pay for these medical costs, plane tickets, rental car, Airbnb, pet care, and importantly, community-funded paid time off so Rin can have a restful recovery. Funds to cover income lost during their recovery is especially important, since Rin will be missing a number of Filipino cultural events in August and September where they would normally be selling their ceramics (check out their work at @rin.ceramics on IG!) and making a bulk of their income.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you know Rin, you know that they give so much to their community––from helping to put on Queer Pool Party and QTease, teaching introductory ceramics classes, and selling beautiful pottery at Queer Mall. They’ve shown their dedication to mutual aid by organizing events that support ABQ Mutual Aid, TGRC, Indigenous Women Rising, Operation Olive Branch, and more. We are so lucky to be in community with them. Rin creates so many spaces for queer and trans people in ABQ to feel free and joyful––and we want the same for them! Let’s give back to Rin by supporting their top surgery journey!

<div>On June 22nd Daryn Ladabour and Alhelí Caton-Garcia were heading home to the South Valley on their motorcycle when they were struck from behind by a hit-and-run driver who then fled the scene on foot. Although Daryn and Alhelí were thrown from the bike, wonderfully and thankfully they both survived and will make a full recovery. However, each of them sustained significant injuries and were immediately taken to the emergency room. Daryn sustained a fractured wrist, a cracked rib, and internal bleeding. Alhelí sustained a broken hand and pelvis. Both have extensive "road rash" and lacerations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Daryn has been discharged, but continues to experience intense pain and difficulty moving. Alhelí remains hospitalized and will likely require many more days of hospital care and in-patient physical and occupational rehabilitation. Medical bills and loss of income are two things we can help them with while they heal and recover from this traumatic and terrifying event.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know times are tough, so please know that any amount helps, and that your good thoughts and kindness are just as valued and appreciated. If you know Daryn and Alhelí you know that they are the first people to help anyone anytime. Please help us get them back to good.

Help Daryn & Alheli Heal & Recover after Hit-and-Run

<div>Hello friends! Some of you may know that <strong>this year I was diagnosed with kidney cancer (stage 2 clear cell renal cell carcinoma of the right kidney)</strong>. Luckily, it was caught and in time and surgery prevented from spreading to my other organs. However, the burden of being sick and injured has been a costly, painful, and entirely too long road, a road I'm afraid will get harder especially since I find myself unable to work my previous career due to medical restraints.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In the meantime, while trying to find something new, I decided to ask for help by creating this GoFundMe. <strong>All funds will go towards recovery, medical bills, and other necessary expenses</strong>. I wouldn't ask if the need wasn't dire so thank you for liking, sharing, or donating. Every single bit helps and counts. Thank you for investing in my survival, David

David's Kidney Cancer Recovery

<div>Hey everyone, Andrew writing here at Jessica’s request as she’s pretty overwhelmed at the moment. Last week, her mother Kim suffered a stroke which caused her to lose her speech and mobility, and placed her in Jessica’s care. This also came amongst a home foreclosure for her mom. The stroke caused her to return to a childlike state, sometimes speaking incoherently but sometimes whispering coherent words, with half her body being numb. The treatment the hospital recommended was for Kim to receive a bed at a speech therapy clinic, but without health insurance she was denied.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’re not sure what the overall cost of recovery is going to be, but because the hospital released her mom with nowhere to go Jessica has to come up with money immediately to care for her. Jessica is currently staying in the guest room of a friend, and is now responsible for finding an assisted living facility that will house her mom (seems to be close to $4,000 a month depending on facility), paying for speech/physical therapy, and fitting housing as needed for a fall-risk patient until she can be placed in a facility, while also dealing with the foreclosure of her mother’s home and moving belongings. Anything you can give is much appreciated, and we’ll try to update with actual costs as it becomes known.

Medical care needed for Jessica's mom

My older brother Gabriel Silva tragically passed away during the early morning hours of June 1st, 2024. Just hours after the difficult decision was made to cease medical treatment and transition to hospice care to prioritize his comfort. <br /><br />I’m so heartbroken. My father died 18 years ago and our mother suffered from addiction for her entire life. Gabriel was one of the only constants in my life, and he was always trying to take care of me. Even as we’ve grown older and he moved to Arizona, he’d always be calling me asking if all my bills were taken care of, or if I needed money for gas or fun or anything. <br /><br />Gabriel grew up with our older brother Lawrence who was diagnosed with cancer and passed away four years ago in 2020. Gabe took care of him on hospice and was there until his final moments. Lawrence’s death destroyed Gabe and his drinking began shortly after. The final straw was the death of our mother just a few weeks ago. I knew when I saw him when he came to say goodbye to our mom before she died that his drinking had spiraled and I regret not trying harder to get him help. <br /><br />Four years. That’s how long it took for alcohol to take my brothers life. Many of us have parents who’ve spent our entire lives drinking, and we foolishly fall into believing that our bodies can tollerate the same. They can’t. <br /><br />Gabriel dropped out of high school to join the work force to keep the bills paid and food on the table. He worked every single day from ages 15-27, rarely ever taking time off for holidays or vacation. I know that if the pressures of capitalism didn’t exist, If all our basic needs were met and he didn’t have to stress about rent or bills. My brother would have never picked up the bottle and would be alive right now. We have so much anger and rage. This empire of exploitation has robbed our family of so much. We will overcome this, and the pain will fuel our fight to make change. To positively impact the lives of young people who we never want to see fall down the same path as my brother.<br /><br />With tears in his eyes, one of the last coherent things my brother asked me was to put up a fundraiser in his honor. Not to help give him a beautiful funeral or reception or anything like that. But to help take care of me since he can’t anymore. Because that’s how selfless and caring he is. Even in his dying days he’s more worried about his family than his own fate. <br /><br />As selfless as his wish is, this fundraiser is to help cover the costs of laying him to rest. This the the third death our family has experienced in less than two months, over $10,000 in end of life expenses already exhausted. Any contribution or share is greatly appreciated.

<div>Adel has been staying in a trailer for the past few years while working on their house; unfortunately on March 26 their entire trailer burned down. Luckily Adel and their 3 animals are unharmed, but they need help buying supplies to finish building and to replace household items that were lost in the fire.
</div>
<div>If you know Adel you know the love, excitement, and determination they bring the community; rockin’ our world and our hearts in a million and one different bands! Let’s help them get back on their feet, and get their home livable and comfortable. No donation is too small, all help is appreciated.

<div>Dear Friends and Family,
</div>
<div>It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister and Friend, Katie Johnson. She left us unexpectedly due to a brain aneurysm on January 14th, 2024. In addition to many loved ones, Katie leaves behind four beautiful children. The oldest Kaylie is at Columbia University in New York on a full scholarship. The three younger children Kaden(17), Kelis (12), and Kleo(10) are students in Frederick, Maryland.
</div>
<div>Katie was a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her family, and unfortunately, she did not have the financial means to have a life insurance plan or savings to prepare us for the costs of her funeral or raising her young children.
</div>
<div>The burden of funeral expenses and the future well-being of her children now rests on the shoulders of those who loved her.
</div>
<div>In this challenging time, we kindly ask for your support. Any contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference in helping us give Katie the farewell she deserves and providing a stable future for her children.
</div>
<div>Any donations you are able to make will be gratefully received by our family.
</div>
<div>Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this sorrowful time.
</div>
<div>With heartfelt thanks,
</div>

<div>Ren’s Den was founded in February of 2023. Inspired by the local Albuquerque music scene, DIY ethics and local artists, Ren’s finally opened its doors on April 1st 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The building is ran out of the famous “Christy Records” and “M.E.L. Music” building in the Barela’s neighborhood which has been a staple spot in Albuquerque’s music scene since 1966.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Originally opened by Dale Porter, later GG Hardin in 1974, then officially taken over by mariachi musician Eralico “Eric” and his partner Marcella Perez. The unit that Ren’s Den currently occupies was the famous music store known as “Cristy Records”. The record store was best known for its selection of Spanish and most importantly New Mexican music, including a recording studio in the unit next door to Ren’s, for important artists such as Al Hurricane.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In 2002, Eracilo Perez passed away. His partner, Marcella then closed the business. In 2008, she reopened Cristy as “M.E.L. Music” to keep local music alive. She passed away in 2019 and M.E.L Music officially closed its doors.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ren’s was created without knowing any of the history behind this space but now knowing what it was, it’s not a surprise that this space will always have music inside its walls.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Everything made a full circle and that’s what makes Ren’s a special place. This place was meant for music.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ren’s opens its doors to the community hosting events catering to musicians/ groups mostly in the realm of punk rock, heavy metal, goth, hardcore, noise, post-punk, grindcore, horror fanatics and anything in between for the small community of New Mexican misfits.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ren’s prides itself in providing a safe place for all ages to enjoy underground local or traveling musicians, local and traveling artists through vendor events and hosting events that give back to the New Mexican community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Within the time Ren’s has been open, we’ve lost very important music spaces such as La Chancla, Fly Honey Warehouse which was the life line for our local underground music scene.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ren’s refuses to have its doors close in order to keep the local music scene alive and honor those who paved the way for us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As of today, I am asking for the communities help. My name is Santana Barreda and I started Ren’s out of my love for music and wanting to make Ren’s and Albuquerque a place for bands and artists to display their arts. I feel like Albuquerque gets neglected and forgotten by the music world but there’s a community here who thrives and creates beautiful music. With the help of Aaron Barreda and Angelo (Anjo) Garcia, they have helped create this space something amazing. We are now recording music out of Ren’s and providing the space for musicians to practice at as well.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As of December 1st I am 8 months pregnant. I realize I cannot do this by myself and there is nothing wrong asking my community for help. I am unable to provide for Ren’s financially (bills) as much as I want to for the first quarter of the 2024 year due to me going on maternity leave to raise my son. I will be out of work from December 23rd, 2023- March 3rd, 2024.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m just asking if anyone has even a penny to spare, come to a show, needing a place to practice or a place to record music at, please do. We are flexible with rates regarding these services. I cannot let this place die. Albuquerque and the future generation of musicians needs this space more than I do and I cannot see it go.
</div>
<div>Thanks
</div>

<div>Less than 2 weeks from our wedding, our blue boy, Hades, needed to go in for emergency surgery after they found a foreign object in his small intestine.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We *were* asking loved ones invited to our wedding to contribute to our "honeymoon fund". But now, we are postponing our honeymoon, and hoping for help in paying off his medical bills and our now changed travel plans, since we will need to bring him to New Mexico with us. We are still hoping for a honeymoon in the near future, but have to prioritize this unexpected expense.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have been saving and spending a lot on our upcoming wedding, are taking extended time off from work to travel to and from the wedding, and now have a major vet bill on our hands. Anything you can contribute, or were hoping to gift us on our wedding day would be greatly appreciated!
</div>

Emergency Surgery for Hades

<div>Indigenous climate activist, artist, musician, and father Jacob Johns was shot in the chest this morning, Sept 28.2023, during a No Juan de Oñate statue peaceful prayer ceremony in Tewa territory (more commonly known as Española, New Mexico). Jacob put his body between women and children when the shooter charged towards the altar. Jacob prevented the shooter from harming women and children. The shooter attempted to fire again but his gun jammed preventing him from committing a mass shooting of indigenous peoples while they were in prayer and ceremony. He was air-lifted to a hospital in Albuquerque, and had surgery. The shooter, who was wearing a red MAGA hat, is in custody of tribal police. We ask everyone to please pray with us that he survives this surgery and doctors have’ the strength and wisdom to help him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jacob, who is Hopi and Akimel O'odham, has dedicated his life to Indigenous and climate justice. He is a skilled muralist and speaker, and specializes in non-violent, peaceful “artivism”. He has a teenage daughter, she and his other family are currently flying from Washington State to Albuquerque New Mexico to be by his side.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This inspirational man has put his life on the line over and over again to make a better world for his fellow humans, and now he and his family need your support to recover from this terrible hate crime. As you can imagine, being a climate activist is not lucrative work to readily afford major life-saving surgery. We are humbly requesting your donations to help cover his recovery, his medical bills, and to help support his family needs during what will likely be a very lengthy recovery period. This comes just two months before Jacob will be leading an Indigenous Wisdom Keepers Delegation at COP28 to advocate for Indigenous solutions to climate change. Please pray with us for his recovery and donate if you can.

Help Jacob Johns Recover from Terrorist Shooting

<div>Hey folks. So FRS started our spring tour with multiple fill-in horn players planned to round out the lineup and make the tour successful. All of them fell through, but with two weeks notice Eric of Los Mal Hablados and Mephiskapheles let us know he could fill the spot. The downside was that on such short notice it would be a few hundred bucks, but we bit the bullet. We booked two flights, and one would send him back home from Canada (we'd meet up with one of our horn players on the US side).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Fast forward to this week, and the Canadian airline went on strike the DAY Eric was to fly home. Multiple canceled flights, bookings, re-bookings, and a stressful period later we found a way to get him home - for over 1,300 DOLLARS. People were scrambling for bookings to get home with the strike, and the price gouging is bad. This also meant finding a way to get him into the US so he could fly from Buffalo NY and not Canada, while the rest of FRS headed to Montreal. We are posting this to attempt to recover that debt if possible - but we are otherwise all well and on our way. Thanks for reading.
