<div>Hi.  I'm James Bennett, and I was one of the co-founders of several of the early private space launch companies that founded the industry decades before SpaceX and Blue Origin.  I was heavily involved in both the business and regulatory sides of the industry, and participated in the legislation and policy that made the industry possible at all, and paved the way for today's industry.  But today this history is not well known, and many of the key founders have already passed away.  For example, of the three founders of American Rocket Company I am the only one still living.   It is my goal to capture this firsthand story while it is still possible.  I am a published author with two books by mainstream publishers, both well reviewed.  I have no ongoing  institutional support although I have had enough foundation support in the past to begin research and writing.  I am looking for further funding to support research, travel, and conducting interviews while writing and marketing the final products.

Commercial Space Launch History: The Unknown Story

<div>Over the past several weeks, Michelle Biller suffered two strokes related to a rare mitochondrial disease called MELAS— a disease she shares with her 14 year old son, Trey. Despite every effort from her medical team, Michelle experienced another stroke and passed away on Christmas morning. Her family is heartbroken, and the weight of this loss is immeasurable.

<div>At the same time, Trey is hospitalized in Knoxville, 75 miles away from where his mom was receiving care, after experiencing another stroke‑like episode. This is his fourth since August. He has been battling severe headaches, vision loss, and reduced motor skills, all symptoms of the same devastating disease. Trey faces a long and challenging road of recovery ahead, and the family is doing everything they can to support him through each step.

<div>Ben is doing everything he can to care for his family while continuing to work, and their daughter Emily has returned home from college for winter break to help. But the emotional, physical, and financial strain of losing Michelle while also caring for Trey in a separate hospital has been overwhelming.

Sergio needs a new Kidney 

<div>Those of y'all who know me, hey and cowdy! If you don't, I'm Lupi and I do spaceflight photography and outreach here on the Space Coast. I've been running LaunchRats.com since its founder's passing, providing launch viewing advice to tourists and their families, and I often take my bike out to Titusville's parks before a launch to lend people a hand, point out the pads, give rocket photos to kids seeing their first launches, and similar sorts of things. Few things bring me more joy than helping folk experience a rocket launch and have that experience like no other.

<div>Unfortunately,  that's going to be difficult for me to do for the next few months. On Saturday, February 11th, I was biking in Melbourne, FL, trying to grow more familiar with parts of the county I seldom visit, when I was struck by a vehicle. They clipped my left handlebar, which knocked me off the bike and threw me onto my left shoulder, breaking it.

<div>Fortunately the fracture isn't severe, and won't require surgery or intensive care, but when my only method of transport to support myself is a bicycle and the doctor says I can't ride it until April, and I'm <em>extremely</em> left-handed to boot, that puts me in a bit of a bind.

<div>Compounding that, I've been unemployed since last June and struggling to keep this roof over my head to begin with while applying to job after job. In that time, a lot of home repair problems have shown up that I can't handle without money or a viable left arm, like my kitchen plumbing getting clogged way deeper than I can route a snake myself.

</div>
<div>When you can't run your dishwasher, and you struggle to cook due to your arm being down for the count, problems start to mount, and it's hard to route around those. Disposable tableware only goes so far until you run out of clean pots and pans.
</div>

<div>And then, of course, there's the medical bills. I'm lucky that this happened before I was booted from my family's insurance, but there's still gonna be copays and stuff they don't want to cover, between the ambulance ride, ER visit, and the two appointments with the orthopedic surgeon. They had to do a second run of x-rays today because the ER never sent theirs over, for example.

<div>Any money I receive will go towards medical bills, and after that towards things to maintain/improve my situation so I'm able to put the best foot forward once I've healed:

<li>In the short term it can grant me a budget for getting food and groceries delivered, given my current difficulty cooking and running errands.
</li>
<li>I want to get my bike(s) checked over and repaired. They're both long overdue for some general maintenance, even before one got hit by a car, and the other run over by a fuel truck at my previous job.
</li>
<li>I hope to bring in a plumber and get my kitchen drain snaked, so I don't have to rely on delivery once my arm is healed enough to use for light household stuff, and so I can use my kitchen once this is all over. It is fundamentally impossible to use my bathroom for any dishes, the sink is too small and the shower has Issues from a roof leak.
</li>
<li>I need to cover general bills while I'm less capable of working, or even getting out of the house in general to do even volunteer outreach stuff.
</li>
<li>My insurance may lapse before I'm eligible for new glasses in June, in which case I may just try and pay for them out of pocket, if there's any left over.
</li>

<div>The long and short of it is, I would like to be able to hit the ground running when this is all over, and be in a slightly better position than I was when I got in the wreck. I've been through a lot these past few years, and I've never really been able to stop, catch my breath, or stem the bleeding.

<div>The house is in far worse shape than it should be, my bikes are run ragged, and I haven't been able to handle the pressure and stress of unemployment (and that brief fling with temporary, nightmarish employment at a shitty gas station) with any amount of grace.

<div>I would use this time to let more than just my shoulder recover, to heal some of the other ailing things in my world.

Help Lupi recover from getting hit by a car!

This GoFundMe is on behalf of a trans person in the community who needs to stay anonymous for safety reasons. We’ll call them X from here on out as a pseudonym.<br /><br />X discovered a lump in their pre-top surgery chest several months ago and after the lump grew to the point of causing pain and making it difficult to bind, X was sent for evaluation by a specialist. <br /><br />The specialists ruled out the lump being a cyst and diagnosed the mass as having abnormal growth that requires full removal and testing. <br /><br />While X waits for surgery, the mass continues to cause pain and makes X unable to bind in any way, leading to distress and dysphoria. Additionally, the experience of navigating breast specialist centers and ultrasounds has been difficult as X does not present as a woman.<br /><br />If the mass is benign (what we are all hoping for) then X is hoping to have top surgery soon after to avoid having to go through this again since the lumps may recur. The surgery alone can range from $3500 to $9000, not including additional expenses. X does not have insurance that would cover the surgery or the additional expenses. <br /><br />If they find that the mass is not benign, then there are further steps that X will need to take for that worst case scenario and X will need the funding to support themselves and their partner for what comes next.

Help Trans Person Afford Surgery

On April 21, 2020 I was in a nearly fatal wreck. With broken back, left leg and arm and a brain bleed. I then suffered a heart attack during surgery. My doctor MAY clear me for work in one year but in the meantime I'm having trouble getting disability, temporary or otherwise and need money for monthly bills and incidentals. Hello! My name is Ollie Vining (pronounced Vine-ing) and I'm a 25 year old trans guy. I've been on Testosterone for a year and a half now and am yearning for that next (very expensive) step in completing my transition and feeling like I can reclaim a bit of my person-hood back.<br /><br />I came out as trans when I was 18 and each day is another hill to climb and another trial to get over, but more and more I'm finally starting to feel like who I was meant to be, there's just the one thing missing, you know?
