After dedicating 30 years of my life to caring for others, I never imagined I would find myself facing so many health challenges of my own. I have endured heartbreaking loss, cancer, ongoing pain, and now a heart attack. Through it all, I have continued to push forward, but today I need a little help getting back on my feet.
In June 2018, I lost my only son at just 14 years old. After spending 30 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, I found it too difficult to return to the hospital environment following his passing. I was eventually forced to retire on Social Security disability due to PTSD.
The following year, I was diagnosed with tongue cancer and underwent major surgery followed by 12 weeks of radiation. I continue to experience daily pain from the surgery.
After caring for a disabled senior in her home for the past four years, I sadly lost that opportunity when she passed away at the end of May.
This year brought further health struggles. After battling several infections and spending approximately eight weeks bedridden, I finally began recovering in September. Then, on October 11, I suffered a heart attack and required a stent. Now, I face another challenging recovery, but I remain determined to regain my strength and improve my health.
I am asking for help with outstanding medical bills and additional treatments, including functional medicine and supportive care that insurance does not cover. Living on a limited income while managing ongoing health issues has made these expenses difficult to afford.
If you are able to donate, any amount would make a meaningful difference and help me focus on healing rather than financial stress. If you cannot donate, sharing my fundraiser with others would be just as appreciated.
All my love,
Pattie
