What they care about

I've been a member of Governors Club for many years. I care deeply about many things, but particularly the happiness and welfare of our entire community.

My name is Pat Elstro, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for a valued member of our Governors Club family. Jose Cabrera works hard every day to ensure your dining experience at the club is a great one. Now, he and his family need our help as they face a difficult time. Jose is a dedicated husband and father of two wonderful children who have autism and require constant care and attention. He works two jobs—one as a cook at the Governors Club and another as a warehouse associate at Amazon—to provide for his family. His wife stays home to care for their children, making Jose the sole provider for their household. On January 9, 2026, Jose underwent bypass surgery on his left leg due to a blockage that was preventing him from walking. Unfortunately, the first surgery did not go as planned, and doctors had to operate again the same day. In total, Jose spent approximately 19 hours in surgery. He is currently recovering, but the process is slow and delicate, and he is unable to return to work as he normally would. This has placed a significant financial strain on his family, while their monthly expenses—rent, utilities, food, and the ongoing needs of their children—continue. Any support you can provide will make a meaningful difference for Jose, his wife, and their children as they navigate this challenging time. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
