What they care about

We're a new small dog rescue based in Merseyside. We have no kennels & need funds to get dogs in crisis safe in commercial kennels & get them vet care.

FAB NEWS ALERT! Please see Paddy's Facebook page to see latest video You might remember Zeus who Paddy's Dog Rescue took in on the day he was due to be put to sleep, for "aggression" against people and dogs. Whilst under our care he lost weight and investigations revealed he had a massive 30cm kidney tumour. He had surgery to remove it and biopsy results showed it was a Wilms' tumor, a rare, highly malignant cancer that can impact young dogs (he's only four). Whilst he was under Paddy's, Celandine Wood Animal Rescue kindly took him into their kennels since we don't have our own. Staff had been sensible given the history we were given and had a muzzle on him but he's been great with people and dogs! Perhaps he was in pain. And so the kennel manager Eve took him how a few weeks ago as she'd taken a shine to him to foster. And after proving he can get along with her dogs great, we have a failed foster! We are so grateful to Eve ❤️❤️❤️ Zeus would have been a difficult dog to rehome frankly because he has a 50% chance of the cancer returning and not many people will take on a dog that could cost thousands. Thank you again to all who donated for Zeus. As always, saving a dog is team work
Zeus has a massive 30cm tumour and needs an urgent CT scan and op We had an ultrasound scan done on Zeus after noticing he's had weight loss which discovered he has a huge abdominal mass. We urgently need to raise several thousand to try to save his life. He is a lovely boy and only 5 years old. We stepped in to save Zeus from euthanisation last month. His rescue is a joint operation between us at Paddy's Dog Rescue and Celandine Wood Animal Rescue. CWAR took him into their kennels as we don't have their own. Paddy's is a small rescue that currently has no reserves. We will have to make treatment decisions based on how much money we are able to raise. It's absolutely horrible but the reality of rescue. The ultrasound couldn't show which organ the tumour and he needs a more detailed CT scan. Our vet says she could operate if it's the spleen - and this is a cheaper option. But if it's a more complicated organ like the kidney he needs a specialist referral, which is the most costly option. The best option for Zeus for the highest chance of survical would be to go straight for a hospital referral, if we can raise enough
Yesterday Paddy's was involved in the rescue of four emaciated lurcher crosses from an address in Lancashire. Three boys - Bruno (black, aged 4), Dexter (tan, aged 1) and Blaze (tan, aged 1) - and a girl called Bambi (black, aged 4). The dogs have scars on them from fighting for food and Blaze passed a poo with plastic in, likely from eating anything he could to survive. We are now following a strict feeding protocol to gradually increase their food intake in small and frequent portions that will increase to avoid fatal refeeding syndrome. The dogs were petrified when rescued and Blaze was so scared he dived under a car and got his head jammed in the wheel area and we had to jack the car up to safely get him out. Bruno, Dexter and Bambi have been placed in emergency boarding and rescuer Danni Lou has kindly taken responsibility for these three. Blaze is under Paddy's care and is being fostered by our founder Claudia. We would really appreciate donations towards rescue costs. All dogs will be seen by a vet asap and may need treatment and there will be the standard costs of vaccinations, neutering, deworming, defleaing and microchipping. And there is then emergency boarding for the three dogs at around £450 a week. I'm sharing Paddy's GoFundMe page. Danni is also sharing fundraising posts and if Paddy's raises more than we need for Blaze we will transfer anything extra over to Danni for her costs. If you're interested in fostering or adopting one of the dogs please fill in an application form on our Facebook bio.
Hi We've just found out Zeus is being PTS today at 3pm. We have a residential dog behaviourist who can take him in. He's suggested 4-6 weeks with him. We are waiting to confirm costs, it will be several thousand. This would be the best place for him - we have nowhere else for Zeus to go, we don't have our own kennels. We're struggling to find emergency boarding kennel space and we haven't yet managed to assess him so can't place direct to a foster, not that we have a child free pet free foster come forward. Please help us get him safe today. This GFM has been put together quick. Here's the post we put up recently... CODE RED - URGENT RESCUE SPACE - EUTHANISATION BOOKED NEEDS SPACE BY SUNDAY Zeus is 3 year old and a Rottweiler x cane corso. Owner says she is becoming homeless and has struggled with his issues as she doesn't have the time to put into the training. She said he has grown up with other dogs however a few months ago started attacking her other dog who is elderly. He can be aggressive towards other dogs on a walk (he is muzzled). He has had multiple trainers and been sent away for training so he has all the basic training however owners have not been able to keep it up. Owner said "this dog is amazing if he has someone that knows what they’re doing! He has so much potential. Zeus needs to go to someone that is experienced with large reactive dogs, someone that is willing to walk him multiple times a day, and who ideally has no dogs / lives alone. When he was sent away for training he was walked in a pack and behaved perfect! He is a typical cane corso and very protective of his owner and house He needs someone that is going to put the work into him and give him the life he deserves." Based in Runcorn.
My name is Claudia Tanner. I’m an animal rescuer and the founder of Paddy’s Dog Rescue, based in Wirral. I am currently facing a charge of burglary in relation to an incident in December 2024, and I am due to appear in court on 20 February. I will be pleading not guilty. I have been given an estimate of around £6,700 for a Crown Court trial (I had previously wrote here it was £15,000 - as that's what my solicitor initially said, then she told me fees for a burglary charge is capped). As legal proceedings are active, I’m unable to comment on the circumstances of the case. This is a very difficult time, and I am seeking support to help cover my legal costs. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this, would mean a great deal to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you’re able to give.
Hi, We saved Lennie just two hours before he was due to be euthanised. He's settled well with our fantastic foster carer and now it's time to neuter him. We often struggle to raise funds for neutering with so many fundraisers for dogs in urgent situations. But neutering is a responsible thing that all reputable rescues should do. We are a new small rescue based on the Wirral and we have very limited funds so please donate if you can! Also Lennie urgently needs a foster or adopter... his current foster is going into hospital and can no longer look after him. Please get in touch if you can help, otherwise he will have to go into kennels which is stressful for any dog and will up our costs at a time when we are struggling financially. Lennie has come on so far with his foster and is very obedient, he's very food orientated so has learnt a lot of commands and tricks! While Lennie isn't bothered by other dogs on walks, he's never lived with another dog so will need a pet free home. He can be nervous around new people but soon warms to you when he feels safe. We would love to find someone with experience of dealing with dogs with difficult backgrounds who can continue to his training. Thank you from Lennie!
