<div>Our beloved Salam has had a life-altering event that has rendered him completely and permanently blind overnight and forced him into retirement. Lucy, his wife of 28 years, has been his full-time caretaker during his recovery and hasn't been able to work since this happened in late February. We are all deeply saddened by what he’s had to give up and by the challenges he’ll face in re-establishing his independence, compounded by the loss of both incomes. This is not the retirement he or his loved ones envisioned.

<div>Salam built a remarkable creative life in the visual arts, ultimately dedicating 17 years to shooting dance videography. Salam has shot and edited 370 productions. In his free time, he’s written six feature-length screenplays and worked as a substitute teacher. His passion for the arts has deeply influenced his children’s interests and careers.

<div>Recently, Salam underwent an ocular outpatient procedure. Tragically, the next day, he experienced a rare and extremely painful complication known as an expulsive choroidal hemorrhage. Sadly, his vision cannot return. The following weeks were a blur of extreme pain from the hemorrhage and trying to navigate the next steps. He is facing another surgery and recovery, and the costs associated with that. Salam’s loved ones have been researching tools and home modifications to support his safety, independence, and creativity, but the estimated costs are daunting. Salam and Lucy need to cover their day-to-day living expenses and ongoing medical costs until Lucy can return to work. It will be a major adjustment to live without Salam’s income.

Support Salam After A Devastating Life Event

<div>Colton was taken to the eye doctor for a routine eye exam. They saw an issue with the optical nerve in both eyes. The eye doctor called the neurologist to do a MRI. Neurologist said to bring him to The Children's Hospital in Detroit for a MRI immediately.  He had a CT scan and they saw some abnormalities. Colton’s MRI confirmed that he does have a brain tumor on the Left side of his brain. They will be doing emergency surgery Tomorrow at 7:00 AM. Once the tumor is removed, they will then be taking it to be biopsied to determine exactly what it is. They said Surgery takes about 5-7 hours, and then 5-7 hours in ICU for recovery. They are putting in a drainage tube to release all of the fluids around his brain. After surgery, they will be transferring him to MRI to see if they got everything during surgery before the healing process begins. Please keep Colton and his family in your prayers! Our beloved sister, mother, daughter and wife loss her long fought battle with a list of illnesses. She fought for so many years with illness after illness leaving behind 2 teenaged children and a wonderful husband. Words can not explain the hole she has left in our lives and will forever be remembered and loved. <br /><br />After some complications from a heart attack she was unable to be revived with full recovery of the brain due to lack of oxygen after coding for so long. <br /><br />Although our hearts are grieved we must find a way to cover the cost of her funeral and the like. We reach out to family and friends with love and respect of those who are able to assist if at all possible. I know she is loved by many and by no means do we request if you are not able, but for those that are it would be imaginably appreciated from the family. <br /><br />Her memorial will be Thursday July 12 at Nelson Funeral Home in Owosso, MI. Friends and family will be received by the  intermediate family at 11 AM up until the service time of 1 PM. Everyone is invited to come and commemorate the strength and beauty of Tiffany Thompson .
